Bad news.
As of 3:17pm Sunday, my laptop is a coaster, taking with it, my ability to post a fic update today.
There are no words to express how upset I am about this, as I've always prided myself on someone who kept my word. I can only offer my sincerest apologies that I am breaking my word today. There is, however, some good news. Or it's what I keep telling myself so I don't burst into tears. Again. The fic is not gone. It's in my gmail account, albeit in an unbetaed sense. So, I can recreate it, once I get a new system, if in fact the old one cannot be repaired.
Please believe me that I will do everything I can to get back online and back posting as soon as possible. Any good thoughts would be appreciated. Once again, I am so sorry.
ETA: 12:50pm - Laptop is at computer store. Hopefully will know if it's repairable in a few hours. Thanks so much to all for your kind words. *hugs you*

But no need to apologize. It's really not your fault. My laptop is also quite difficult at time. Just yesterday all my bookmarks disappeared.
You can be glad that you still have the fic on your gmail account.
And who knows, maybe your laptop can be restored? *crosses fingers for you*
Take your time to sort everything out and don't worry about us &hearts

i know how frustrating this can be, going through something similar myself about 3 yrs ago now. my hubby's best friend is a published sci-fi writer, and he'd encouraged me to write a book (different genre, regency) after he'd read some of my short stories. it took me about 3 years (and a million excuses for not working) and i had a fully outlined story, and just over eight completed chapters. then one fine morning i woke up, and my computer didn't. i'd lost all my emails, saved drafts, emails sent. everything everything was just gone. i wasn't smart like you. i didn't have any sort of back up. i lost it all. even after taking it in to the local computer god, there wasn't anything that could be done. it had been so severely infected, they had to wipe the memory clean. it broke my heart. i couldn't walk by my office without crying, and i couldn't bear to even go online for about a month. i still haven't gotten my stride back, and i have to wonder if it's not contributing to my writers block, because anytime i get close to getting something good down, i freeze up, and i just lose the flow.
do not worry about this little delay. you'll be up and running before you know it. in fact, it's given me a terrific reason to go back and read again from the start. :) (like i need an excuse to read this) *snicker*
there was one thing i discovered this weekend that i thought might make you laugh (or be slightly skeerd). here i was believing that the weekends with no updates wouldn't be too bad, because i'd be too busy. wrong-o! i still thought about it quite a bit. in fact, i think i've thought of a way that i can "redeem" Coach Holms. *snort* See, it's not really him that's being the bastard, it's the owner. He doesn't want to pay Dom's salary, so he's trying to force away out of the contract. Coach Holms, on the other hand, knows how valuable Dom still is to the team, so he's trying to prove to the owner that Dom's worth every pound of his contract, by just how hard he can work at practice. :beamy smile:
see??? (yeah, it's ok. i scare myself.)
all will be fine soon, sweetie. don't sweat it!
*hugs*

Don't worry about the not-being-able-to-post bit...while the Fatherhood, Football etc fic is one of my two favorite Monaboyds (the other one being Western Lovers) the anticipation will make the next episode that much sweeter.

That said, I hope lil lappy makes it through. And whatever happens, I eagerly await more of this fic, however long it may take. :-)

And I don't feel like you should be apologizing, I feel like I should be grateful for what you've given us so far. I so with I could write creatively as you have done.
Wish there was something I could do to help. If you end up having to buy a replacement, I'd be glad to help you out on the tech-speak and tech details.
