"I Know Why the Caged Hobbit Sings"

Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not reality. Wah.
Summary: Damn, but Billy can sing.
Notes: This is partially a response to what
sheselectric has written lately. She's such a- um- GOOD influence.
Why the fuck had Billy never told him he could sing like this?
Of course Dom had heard Billy sing before, when they were learning hobbit drinking songs or when he just broke into a Scottish ballad between shots. But he had never heard him seriously sing, not like he was now.
For a moment Dom felt jealous that this Billy was the cameras' and not his. Then again, when had Billy ever been his? He shouldn't think of him like that anyway; Billy was his own hobbit, so to speak.
If it were up to him, nobody else would get near Billy, ever. He would have a little room in his apartment where he would just sit and watch Billy sing like this all day long. Except of course that it would make Billy unhappy and eventually both of them would want a beer and they would end up dancing in a bar somewhere and Billy would escape out into the world again, and Dom didn't want that. He wanted a Billy who didn't need to escape from him.
Billy always did escape, somehow, no matter what Dom did to pin him down. When they had interviews Dom always made sure to say how much he loved Billy, so that he would have to say it too, or attacked him with hugs in public. And of course Billy would hug him back and joke around and say all the wonderful things Dom had hoped he might in response. And then they would get back to the trailer, losing Lij and Sean somewhere along the way, and Dom was sure if he could catch Billy in that one moment it would work.
And before he knew it Billy was heading to bed with a sleep "G'night, Dom," that made it clear he would not be awake by the end of the sentence.
Dom knew Billy did love him. He loved him enough to laugh with him and make horrible jokes and spend every moment of his waking day with him. They drank together and danced together and went over lines together. They were DomandBilly, one person, everyone on the set knew that. But he couldn't pin him down.
And Billy had never sung for him.
