Title: “I Love You, Mate…” (F.K.A. Something Clever That I Haven’t Thought Of Yet) (3/?)
Author:
anewlife92385
Pairing: Monaboyd
Rating: PG-13 for language?
Disclaimer: This is all made up. Sort of. Well, it never happened to them. As far as I know. But we can always hope, right?
Feedback: Would love it, as this is my first fic ever and have no beta. If anyone would like to beta the future chapters, I would gladly welcome the help!!
Author’s Note: I feel I must mention that this scenario is not made up. I used something that happened in my real life and applied it to the monaboyd situation. So, maybe I’m not that creative, but it still makes for a good story! :)
here are link to chapters 1 and 2
and this is chapter 3:
That night, when the doorbell rang, I nearly jumped out of my skin. I bounded to the front hall, and threw the front door open, a little too eagerly.
“Jesus, Dom! If you had pulled that door any harder, it would have come off it’s hinges!”
I must have frowned slightly when I realized that the figure in the doorway was not Billy, because Elijah’s voice said,
“Sorry to disappoint you, Dom. Who were you expecting? Did you forget about tonight?”
Shit, that’s right. It was Wednesday night. I had promised Lij we’d get together for dinner, music, and beer. Damn. Now what?
“Uh, geez, Lij, I’m sorry, I guess I did forget…”
“No big deal! I got all the provisions here!” he said, nodding at the six-pack in one hand and the bag of take-out in the other, cd wallet tucked neatly under his arm. “We’re all set, as long as you haven’t made other plans.”
“Erm, well, Lij, that’s the thing…” I shifted uncomfortably. “Billy sorta invited himself over and didn’t really give me a chance to say no…” Then, I realized, this was a perfect opportunity to get out of having to tell Bills a single goddamn thing tonight! “But I could always give him a ring and tell him I’m sorry, but I already had other plans…or, or that I’m sick and don’t want any company…or-“
“Aw, Dom! You don’t have to do that for me! I’m surprised! You usually jump at any chance to spend time with Billy, and now you’re acting like you’re trying to avoid him…I’m tempted to think that something’s up between you two, but I won’t pry. However, you have no reason to tell Billy not to come one my account, seriously, the more the merrier, right? It’ll be an impromptu hobbit-party or something!”
Well, there went my chances of escape out the window. Thanks, Lij, great to know I can always depend on you. I gave him a weak smile and ushered him through the door and into the living room. We plopped on the couch and flipped on the telly, voraciously digging into the take-out and beer, not really caring if there would be enough for Billy when he arrived.
Elijah was just polishing off his second beer and I starting on my third, when the doorbell rand for the second time this evening. Again, I jumped nervously at the sound and said,
“Erm, I’ll get it…” and I walked briskly to the door. Oh, God, I thought. Here we go. I opened the door to see Billy’s small frame standing on the front stoop.
“Hey Bills.” I said as calmly as possible.
“Dommeh!” said Bill. “Sorry, I’m later than I thought I’d be! Had to pick up a few things at the store earlier, and then got a phone call from my aunt, and she wouldn’t shut her trap long enough for me to tell her I had to go. Anyway, I’m here! Now, let’s have a drink and get whatever’s bothering you off your mind, shall we? He smiled, and my heart nearly skipped a beat.
“Um, well…” I began, but there was no need for me to continue, because Elijah appeared in the door behind me, making his presence known without needing an explanation from me.
“Oh! Hello Elijah!” said Billy. “Didn’t expect to see you here!” He sounded surprised. Not upset; just genuinely surprised.
“Yeah, uh, I forgot we had made plans for tonight ages ago. Lij doesn’t mind if you join us though-“
“That is, if you can stand me being around for the evening!” Elijah jumped in. “Whad’ya say, Bill? Let’s make a party of it!”
“Fine with me, long as Dom doesn’t mind the both of us making a ruin of his nice home.” He grinned, knowing full well that my house was always in a constant state of ruin, cheeky bugger. I couldn’t help but smile back. I began to relax a little. God, I loved the man.
“Oh, no! Not at all!” I replied, giving him back his own cheek. “Provided you leave it in the same state you find it in! This way to the beer, boys!” I said, and led them both back to the living room.
