Summary: Dom and Billy celebrate for different reasons.
Note: This is my first posting on here. Realllly nervous -- especially as this is un-betaed and I just wrote it in five minutes. Reviews, both good and bad, are so welcome!

Billy rarely ever hugged Dom as tightly and fiercely as he was at this moment. Dom gripped him back just as hard, just as long. They were both laughing -- joyous and happy as they hadn't been in a long time. Dom was just happy to be in Billy's arms again. He buried his nose in Billy's hair and inhaled the wondrous scents that came off of it. A little bit fruity, a little musky. A combination of shampoo and cologne. He moved his arms over Billy's shoulder and felt all the muscles that were hidden underneath the jacket he wore. He imagined what it would feel like to run his hands over the naked skin as his eyes possessively tracked the muscles shifting underneath. He imagined waking up in this same strong, secure grip and he mentally laughed at himself.

Billy started to loosen his grip but Dom just held on. He needed to hold onto this moment for as long as he could as it just may be the last. Billy put his arms back around Dom and tilted his head towards him.

So close. So close! Soclosesoclosesoclosesoclose. The mantra repeated over and over in Dom's head until it came to a conclusion: closeenoughtokiss.

They made eye contact -- and Dom let out a gasp. He knew the power of Billy's eyes but he had forgotten. He forgot what it was like to be in this position, with the full force of them boring straight through to his heart. He felt it. It was a yearningburning and spread all throughout his body, settling in his heart.

He had held his tongue during the ceremony -- well, truthfully, he'd been holding it a lot longer than that. There were too many close calls during drunken nights for him to count. But now, he was sober. Now -- now was different and he had to let it go. He knew it wouldn't change anything but he had to say something!

"Billy -- Bills I uh. You know that I love you, right?"

"I ken, Dom. And I you. You're my best mate and I plan on keeping it that way for a long time."

"Me too, Billy, me too."

With that, Dom let go of Billy. He watched him walk across the floor and talk to various members of the party. Celebration would be a more fitting word. This is a day to celebrate. New beginnings and all that. Dom feels like a bit of weight has been lifted from him as he knows that Billy and him would never be. Not in the way that Dom had wanted, at least.

He felt good. He told himself this -- over and over. His body started relaxing and he started to actually take in his surroundings. Not just Billyinakilt, Billyandhissmile, Billyandhiseyes. He spent a lot of time walking around talking to friends. People he had worked with on Rings and Billy's Scotland friends, as Dom had dubbed them long ago.

At one point, he tracked Billy's movements and thought about how good it would feel to be able to just be friends with him again. No more pining, no more aching, no more -- just, no more. He felt light, and airy, and whole. He felt like he could finally move on and find some of the inner peace that he'd been striving to obtain for years.

Then. Then, he watched Billy walk over to his new bride with a huge smile on his face and his heart in his eyes. They hugged and kissed, like the world was ending. Dom felt a familiar weight settle about his heart once again.

Fuck.

Dom wondered just how much liquor it would take to permanently erase that image from his mind.
