Title: Erotes
Author:
ceartas
Pairing: BB/DM implied
Summary: Longer than drabble, not quite ficlet. 300 words exactly. Bitter-sweet.
Disclaimer: What is "not true", Alex?
Feedback: I AM A FEEDBACK WHORE!
A/N: This is actually an amended version of Anteros, I filled it out to make it feel more complete. To me, mostly. Basically, I included all the Erotes, not just Eros and Anteros.
Himeros was perched atop my left shoulder when you walked into the room, pointing my gaze to places that I should never have looked upon during our first meeting. But I couldn’t help myself. I wanted you. You, with your mischievous smirk, shining eyes and lollipop satisfied oral fixation. You, with your boyish charm, quick wit and boundless energy. You, with your leather wrist cuffs, tight muscle tanks and no apparent sense of shame. Soon after, Pothos joined him, taking up residence on my right shoulder. That’s when I knew that it was no longer just needwantdesire, but that I loved you with my whole heart and soul. You, with your infectious laughter, fierce determination and iridescent spirit. You, with your not-quite-snoring sleep, always talking with your mouth full and touchy-feely affection for everyone. You, with your soft words, kind heart, and sensitive soul. Hedylogos made his appearance then and was with me every step of the way. Every day, I mercilessly subjected you to not-so-anonymous love notes and pretend-drunken confessions of adoration whispered sweetly in your ears. One day, as you again spurned my advances, I was quite sure that I had played this game long enough. I loved you and knew that I would be happy with no one else. I loved you more completely than I had ever loved anyone before, and so I asked Eros to bring you to me. I asked for feather adorned arrows filled with love, affection and lazy Sunday afternoons cuddling on the sofa. I asked for better or worse, sickness or health devotion, “you and me against the world” and surprise breakfasts in bed. I asked for everything and maybe in the end, I asked for too much. Because it was Anteros who answered instead, with only his arrows of lead.
