Author's notes: Title is now Faking the Steps. Thank you for your votes, everyone! I'm amazed at the reaction I'm getting. Having only two people comment on my first mini-fic/prequel was rather disencouraging. I'm surprised at how many people are reading this, though the small number it is. Are you working for the goverment or something? Because that is believeable. ALSO: I accidentally responded to some comments under the account ohfeeleeuh. Just in case you're weirded out, yes, that is me. Thank you for general inspiration and poking with sticks:

This is the dumbest television show they had ever seen.
"Where's the challenge? The skill? The sense of accomplishment?"
"Honestly! Are you going to go home and tell people that you won a million dollars by jumping on lit squares on the floor?"
"It's not even really a dance. Why do they call it a dance?"
"I could do a better job than them, and I'm a horrible dancer."
Dom wants to tell Billy that he is a wonderful dancer.
Instead, he announces that he’s tired and makes his way into the guest room.
But Billy’s confused. He expected to sleep there. So he opts to sit on Dom, who is now trying to fall asleep on a hard, unused mattress.
“Bills, please don’t tell me you’ve now super-glued yourself to me.”
“No, but I’ll do it next time.”
“Well then, what are you doing? Go to sleep. It’s late.”
“Don’t want to take your bed.”
“Just go on now, okay? This room’s got no character, haven’t had time to decorate it. I know you don’t want to sleep here.”
“Who says?” Billy is putting up a fight, even though he knows Dom is right. He also knows that Dom doesn’t want to sleep in The Boring Room either.
“I do. Don’t want to seem moody, but I have to get up early tomorrow.”
“No you don’t.”
Dom doesn’t know how Billy knows this, but gives up anyway.
Or at least pretends to.
Dom gets up and shoves Billy toward his own bedroom, deciding that if he’s around him any longer his heart might burst from just seeing him after a long separation.
Dom goes back into The Boring Room and tries to sleep, immersing himself so much in the tick-tock-tick-tock of the clock that he doesn’t hear Billy’s shuffling footsteps.
He does, however, notice when he slips in next to him.
“The room’s not boring with you,” Billy says. He’s wide awake, this Dom knows, but has put on a fake sleepy accent.
Dom thinks he heart does burst, right then and there, so he gets up and wanders into his own bed, falling into the welcoming smell of familiarity and the warm spot where Billy was.
Dom decides he won’t tell Billy why he went to Arizona. He won’t tell Billy that he couldn’t see him after all that time apart because he’s in love with him and he knew that Billy would just go away again. He won’t tell Billy that he’s been trying to fall out of love with Billy.
He tries to forget how just a few seconds ago, Billy was thisclose and how he’s so far away now.
He hopes that Billy comes out of The Boring Room and visits Dom.
He thinks about how hard it was to leave Billy there.
Billy thinks about how hard it was to go.
Dom keeps on thinking how hard it is to fall out of love with Billy, just when Billy keeps on thinking how hard it is to get Dom to fall in love with him.
The sun rises red the next morning.
Dom thinks it’s because his heart’s burst.
Billy thinks it’s because his heart is near broken.
They both bury their heads deeper into their pillows.
They can still smell each other.

Jeez girlie! You're story's tugging at my heart now! I must be a little more emotional than usual, cuz my eyes are all teary! Dunno, it just struck a special chord with me. Probably my favorite chapter...definitely my favorite. Sorry, I'm incapable of writing complete sentences lol.

It's funny how sometimes people can't see what they want is the most obvious thing they have.

I must say though, I'm a sucker for unhappy endings, or many struggles with an unexpected happy ending. I'm very morbid like that and this did it for me, so BRAAAAAAVO!! *claps excitedly*
I want to know what happened before Dom hopped off to Arizona! I'm sure you'll tell us, but I'm waiting for a juicy, tasty pre-prequel. *grins*
They can still smell each other. Now that's the way to end some angst. *dies*
