Author's notes: This one's a bit weird - bear with me. In other news, the title has been narrowed down to: The Last Dance, Pretend to Adore, and Faking the Steps. Please vote in your comment! Also, I'm trying for daily updates, but I'm not sure if that's too often. Thoughts? Billy heard something and turned toward it, but he couldn't see anything. The first thought that ran through his mind was that he was blind -- something he'd find otherwise ridiculous.

He heard Dom swearing to himself in a thick, dazed voice. Billy started to sit up, but didn't open his eyes in time to stop his forehead connecting with the still-buckled seatbelt that stretched across the seat. Billy realized that Dom had fallen asleep, then pressed the car's horn.

"Morning." Challenge. Dom said this to him with his eyes.

"Afternoon." Rebuttal. "Why are we in the car?" Challenge.

"Didn't want to wake you." Sidestep.

"Can we go inside now? I'm hungry. Thirsty. Everything. And I have to go." Sidestep; perfectly synchronized movements.

"Sure."

So they did, Billy untangling himself from the seatbelt and arranging various articles of clothing, Dom wiping at his eyes again, both trying to wake themselves up.

"Did you want some coffee? Or I'm sure I have some leftover tea around here." Was this another challenge from Dom? Billy wasn't sure, couldn't be sure.

"No, m'fine, thanks."

Dom wanted to ask Billy why he didn't look fine. And why he wasn't hungry, or thirsty, or anything anymore. Billy had ceased to be Billy. He was now Man Who Looks Like Billy. Man Who Looks Like Billy and Danced With Dom.

"Oh, alright then."

"Could you bring me a pen and some paper? Need to write something."

"Yeah, hold on," Dom said, fetching the aforementioned items, glad for something to occupy him, if only for a moment. He walked back to the couch where Billy had settled himself.

"Thank you. Now. Sit." And he did. Challenge?

"What's this now?" Sidestep.

"You are going to tell me why you got stranded in Arizona." Challenge.

"Car broke down. You always said it was a piece of shit, and you were right."

"I don't think you quite got my point, Monaghan. I meant that you were in Arizona of all places. What I should have said is, you are going to tell me why you drove to Arizona." Definite challenge.

"Told you already. Can't think in this place. Too loud. Can't you hear it, Bills?" Rebuttal. Dom crossed his arms around his chest and looked toward a nearby window.

"Don't hear anything. This place seems pretty peaceful to me." Challenge.

"So then you don't understand me. At all." Closing argument. He got up, partly because he couldn't look at Man Who Looked Like Billy anymore, and partly because the situation didn't feel right.

Dom was right. The situation wasn't right. That might have been related, he decided as he started to feel his pants weighted down, to the fact that he had a chair cushion super-glued to his rear.

Billy's face was unreadable. He threw down the pad on which he had been scribbling on and went into the bathroom to turn the sink on; the sink was doing a very bad job of masking his very loud laughter. Dom sat down on the couch, considerably higher than normal, and read the sheet from where he sat.

The sheet held only six words: Hope you didn't like those pants.

Goodbye, Man Who Looks Like Billy.

Welcome back, Billy Who I'm In Love With.

Twas cute. :)

Faking the steps? Faking..what steps? Sidesteping? The steps to a relationship? Billy trips on the steps? lol Not sure I understand that title, but I like Last Dance, just because I can see the theme in that with the Billy Dom Danced with and such. For me it fits. And Pretend to Adore is kickin too.

BTW that was really clever the way you put in the Challenge and Rebuttals in there. Nice. *nod*
