"Completely out of your league, mate," Billy smiled at Dom while picking at his script pages.

"Now, why do you say that?" Dom asked feigning sadness all too convincingly.

"Not up to par."

"You have no point of reference to judge that against."

"You're not experienced enough—"

"You haven't even let me try" Dominic interjected.

"I'm not going to, either." Billy gazed into Dom's eyes while continuing "It's not a personal thing, Dommie, you must understand that."

"How can it not be personal?" Dom asked increduously.

"You cannot be the one, Dom. You're going to have to move past this," Billy sighed. He had known that having this discussion was going to be hard, but he hadn't known that Dom would take it so badly.

"It's your first time! It should and would mean more if it was me." Dom reasoned. Surely Billy could see that.

"Dommie, don't make me say things I'll regret later."

"I've never known you to be anything but truthful with me. Tell me why."

"It will ruin what we have now. I'm not discussing this further."
Billy's tone rose higher than he had anticipated, and when he looked again to Dom, he knew what was coming.

"Why are you so desperate to keep me away?" Dom looked at the floor.

Billy sighed, knowing the next words he said could possibly seal his fate. "Because everybody already can't say my name without yours ... or seperate our careers, or know which of us is which ..."

Dom interjected, "Billy, people already talk, they expect this out of us, out of you ..."

"No, Dom. You expect this out of me. I will not tell you again. You are not my Hamlet in my directorial debut."

Well that ending threw me! Definitely not what I was thinking!!!

Heh, that ending took me totally by surprise - I actually had to go back and reread everything to make sure that I hadn't overlooked anything the first time around. Brilliant - you seriously had me thinking "and this is supposed to be fluff?!" :D
