Pairing: BB/DM
Rating: PG-ish
Summary: Billy can’t sleep.
Feedback: Would be greatly appreciated as it's my drug of choice.
Disclaimer: Not at all true in reality. This is my imagination at work.
A/N: Posted because
Shifting for the fifth time in just two minutes, Billy punches his pillow into a lump and tries again to settle in for a good night's sleep.
The phrase is enough for him to snort and shake his head, rubbing a cheek against the cotton pillowcase. Billy knows the last time he had a good night's sleep, quite possibly the best in his life, and why his resting hours have been less than stellar ever since.
It was an innocent evening of Thai takeaway and running lines, then settling in to watch a DVD. The level of exhaustion for both men became clear when Dom gently nudged Billy awake, the comedy they'd selected long over, and the moon high in the sky. It was so late Dom insisted that Billy stay the rest of the night, the pair holding onto one another as they stumbled sleepily down the hall to Dom's bedroom.
After being cramped up on the couch, stretching out on a bed of cool sheets was nothing short of heavenly, and when Dom fit himself into Billy's side, he was utterly content. He was too tired to care that he was curled up with his best mate; Billy simply pulled the coverlet over their bodies and fell asleep. The weight of Dom's arm across his waist was a welcome feeling, tousled hair tucked under his chin and warm breath wafting across his t-shirt clad chest. It was comfort in its purest form. As usual, the alarm for Feet rang far too early, but despite that, Billy found himself rested and refreshed, for the first time since filming began.
The nights since then have been anything but. Billy's tried everything; warm milk, a boring book, a long soak in the bath, even a wee dram of whiskey. Nothing compares to that night, where he was so relaxed and comfortable, wrapped up in soothing warmth. If Billy had known how amazing that night of sleep was going to be, he would have appreciated it more.
Dom seems to be sleeping just fine, filled with seemingly endless energy and enthusiasm. Sometimes just watching Dom exhausts him. Part of Billy wants to ask what Dom's secret is, how he manages to sleep so soundly, night after night. What he wouldn't give for just one more night like that, so perhaps he could figure out the magic, and he'd hold the truth close, hide it in his heart, and take it to the grave. It was that good.
Refusing to spend another night starting at the ceiling and tossing and turning, Billy kicks back the coverlet and reaches for his trousers. If he can't sleep, he may as well get up and do something. He has to do something or he'll go mad. Perhaps a walk will tire him enough, and the fresh air will help him fall asleep. Scooping up shoes and a jacket, Billy opens the front door of his flat and looks out, keys clutched in his free hand. It a pleasant enough evening, quiet as his neighbors are evidently enjoying the sleep that currently eludes him.
Ten minutes later, Billy looks up from the path he's been walking along, not all that surprised to find himself in front of Dom's flat. Exhaustion overrides his pride, and Billy reaches into his pocket, thankful that Dom entrusted him with his spare key. Within two minutes, Billy is moving stealthily down the hall, shoes, coat and keys discarded in the foyer. All he can hope now is that Dom doesn't mind a visitor at this hour.
The door to Dom's bedroom is ajar, and it's when Billy slowly eases it open a few inches so he can enter, a low groan from the hinges shatters the silence, causes the sleeping man on the bed to stir.
"Huh? What?" Dom mumbles sleepily, head rolling on the pillow towards the door and lifting up a wee bit. "Bills?"
"Sorry," Billy whispers. "Didn't mean to-"
"What's wrong?"
"Can't sleep. I shouldn't have-"
"C'mere," Dom interrupts with a yawn, shifting over on the mattress and patting the place he's just vacated. "It's warm."
Trousers and socks are quickly discarded, and then Billy is stretching out on Dom's bed, clad in a t-shirt and his boxers, just like that night.
"Want to talk about it?" Dom asks, so close that his breath is warm on Billy's neck.
"Just want to sleep," Billy replies wearily. "So fecking tired."
A long arm slides across Billy's waist, and it's as Dom starts to fit himself into Billy's side, sharing his body heat, that a familiar peace begins flow through Billy's limbs.
"Go to sleep," Dom murmurs. "It's late."
Billy's rests his cheek against Dom's mussed hair and closes his eyes, falling asleep to the sensation of Dom's hand gently stroking the shallow groove of his spine between his shoulder blades.
With a muttered curse, Billy's hand silences the alarm clock on the night stand with a halfhearted slap, curling back into the comforting warmth under the coverlet.
"Five more minutes," he mumbles.
"Time for Feet?" Dom's voice is low and hoarse from disuse as he rolls onto his back and stretches his arms over his head.
"Aye."
Hearing the uncertainty in the single word, Dom looks over at Billy.
"How did you sleep?" he asks, turning to settle on his side, cheek resting on the pillow they share.
"Good." Swallowing hard, Billy feels a blush start to spread across his cheeks. "I'm sorry about-"
A finger is pressed to Billy's bow-shaped lips to quiet him, and a long moment passes as they two men gaze at one another in the low light.
"What took you so long?" Dom asks as he withdraws his hand, fingertips tracing the line of Billy's jaw.
He's rewarded with a warm, tender smile, and then strong arms are drawing him close, a chuckle wuffling his hair.
"I have no idea," Billy replies, relaxed and content, and quite confident that his sleepless nights are finally over.

Oh the story was so wonderful! I always love the Monaboyd stories that have the boys crash together in bed!! So this was just perfect for me! Poor Billy - least he went to the only one who could help...aww and Dom was just so adorable. Oh and the way Dom says 'Bills' - it always to me his most affectionate name for him - well in public that is - hehehe
So thank you again and again...and will be happily waiting for letter 'B'!
<3 muah! Love ya!!

Little typo. Unless I'm seeing things, shouldn't that read "Billy'S side" right before the comma there?
