Don't worry, guys (girls), they're just drabbles.

Title: Frequency (1-14/14)
Huh? A collection of drabbles in a series. Haven't done drabbles before, so bear with me.
Disclaimer: Yeah, this happened, I own Dom and Billy, and I am making money off of this like you wouldn't believe (I have it on film!). In my (very best) dreams.
Warnings: Eh, the usual. Bit of angst, bit of fluff, tiny helping of schmoopiness. Not beta'ed. Is it even possible to beta drabbles? Rated PG-13ish.
Summary: Dom never has to tell Billy how he feels, but he does.

Never.

Dom never has to tell Billy how he feels, but he does. “This sucks” and “that blows” make Billy roll his eyes and ask how much time Dom has been spending with Elijah. “I love Thai food” elicits a nod, as does “Life of Brian is the best film ever.” “I love lesbians” earns a raised eyebrow and a secret grin.

Occasionally Dom says things of consequence, such as “I am going to cry if Orlando fucks up this scene again” and “I'll rub your feet if you rub mine.”

But Dom never tells him how he feels about Billy.

Seldom.

Billy seldom allows himself to entertain dangerous thoughts. They will only end up hurting him and who knows how many others.

For example, when Orlando has the (admittedly exciting) idea of going bungee jumping, Billy declines automatically. He associates heights with fear and fear with danger. Or maybe danger with fear. Anyway, Billy declines.

But when Dom suggests that they go surfing, Billy can't say no. In fact, he agrees immediately. Billy can't really help himself when it comes to having dangerous thoughts that involve Dom.

Like thoughts about kissing Dom. Billy really wishes he could stop thinking about that.

Rarely.

Dom is rarely completely candid. He has layers; perhaps, as Elijah jokes, like an onion. With Billy there are just two: the layer that's in love with Billy, which Dom barely acknowledges to himself, and everything else.

The first part of him doesn't come out to play often, even when he's alone. Mostly it comes up in dreams so painfully vivid Dom wakes up with a smile like he's expecting a kiss before the warm fuzz of sleep erodes and cold conscious reality sets in.

Around Billy, Dom can share everything else.

Sometimes he even convinces himself that it's enough.

Sometimes.

Sometimes Billy wonders what Dom would do if he kissed him. Sometimes Billy likes to imagine wide stormy eyes closing and elegant fingers grasping. Sometimes he catches Dom looking at him and sometimes he catches himself looking back, a kiss held captive just behind his tongue.

Usually Billy decides that Dom coud never understand this, the blurred rush of emotion that swells in Billy's chest when they're together, the way his skin tingles when they touch, even accidentally. When that happens Billy bites his lip and swallows the urge.

The rest of the time Dom turns away, deciding for him.

Usually.

Usually, Billy is the person Dom goes to when he has a bad day. Usually, Billy will distract him with Monty Python or guitar and some kind of takeaway until the ache- loneliness, regret, loss, self-pity, anger over missing his cues, agony over spats with other, lesser friends- subsides. He is really very good at it, carefully mentioning nothing until Dom brings up whatever is wrong. Sometimes Dom completely forgets what was bothering him.

Usually, Billy makes everything better. Dom doesn't know what to do when the other aches start because most of the time, he aches for Billy.

Most of the Time.

Most of the time when Dom comes over Billy can sort out what's wrong with him. Most of the time Dom isn't difficult to read; generally speaking, he's an open book.

Today, Billy can't even open the cover.

Shooting had gone well; Dom hadn't missed any cues and he'd only one flubbed line. Purposely, Billy suspects. No fights, no disagreements. One of the makeup girls, Billy remembers with a sharp pang, even agreed when Dom asked her out for dinner.

So he doesn't understand why Dom is here, on his sofa, hugging his knees and sniffling into his own trousers.

Always.

Dom has always been very stubborn. He is far more stubborn than most people, and is therefore also very used to getting his own way. Maybe this is why being in love with Billy bothers him so much: he cannot stand to always be faced with the one thing he cannot have.

He takes a deep breath, looks up at Billy, who makes him feel better, who makes everything so much worse. Bites his lip.

Dom is surprised when Billy pulls him into an easy hug, but not as surprised as he is when he feels Billy's lips on his.

Always. II.

Dom never tells Billy how he feels. Well, he always tells him how he feels about other things, like filming, food, Monty Python, lesbians, filming, Feet, filming, and Billy's guitar (memorably, “I want to shag it!”). He simply never tells Billy how he feels about Billy.

Not aloud, anyway. But every touch, every glance, every bitten lip: Dom is always telling Billy how he feels.

And even though Billy doesn't get the verbal cues, it turns out he has always had the capacity to guess, or, barring that, to hope. As it turns out, most of the time, he's right.

Most of the Time. II.

Most of the time Dom likes surprises. He is generally a spontaneous guy, and as such he is subjected to a variety of whims. Whim: jump off a bridge with Orlando. Whim: half-drown himself (and Billy) learning to surf. Whim: drop everything and run off to New Zealand to play a three-foot-six running gag.

These whims and surprises suit him.

Most of the time, Dom likes surprises. Not today.

Today, Dom loves surprises. He wishes he got this surprise a long time ago. Usually, he would have had reservations about snogging his best friend. But not today.

Usually. II.

Usually, kissing does not have this effect on Billy. He likes control and doesn't let it go easily. One might say he's something of a cold fish.

In fairness, Billy is not usually kissing Dom, who makes the world spin backward and gravity reverse itself and liquids burn like gases. At least, that'swhat Billy thinks he must be doing, because the world is certainly spinning and those aren't butterflies in his stomach and his blood feels like it's on fire.

Before, Billy sometimes forgot where he was or who he was with. Today, the only thing Billy remembers is Dom.

Sometimes. II.

Dom is pretty good at anticipation. Things don't, as a rule, take him off-guard. He is proud of this, among many other things, such as his lack of modesty.

But sometimes (like when Billy touches him) he is so surprised that he makes an embarrassing squeaky noise into Billy's mouth and presses closer without thinking about it, pushes his body up against Billy's in the hope of being surprised.

Dom knows Billy very well, and thus Billy surprises him very rarely. So rarely, in fact, that Dom decides he had better reward him well. Dom wouldn't mind a bit.

Rarely. II.

Rarely - the word for how often Billy has felt like this. He's more content than happy, a little (a lot) exhausted, completely fulfilled. Dom twitches in his sleep, which should be annoying, but Billy can't bring himself to bother with any negative sentiments.

After all, Billy has known all of Dom's faults from the beginning (skittishness, pride, immodesty- well, maybe that's not actually a fault) and he has fallen in love with him anyway. Despite Dom's veritable catalogue of flaws and bad habits, Billy thinks 'seldom' is probably the word for how often he'll let Dom out of his sight.

Seldom. II.

Dom is seldom as still as he is when he watches Billy. Billy inspires a calm that he doesn't entirely understand. Sometimes, around Billy, his restless behaviour disappears, is absorbed by an intense concentration When he's really watching Bill- a treat he seldom allows himself- he fades into the scenery: Billy is the star of the show.

He's not terribly discreet, and Elijah and Viggo inevitably notice. The teasing isn't bad enough to make him quit, or even make an effort to be less obvious.

He never realizes that Billy does the same thing to him when he's not looking.

Never. II.

Dom never has to tell Billy how he feels because that's just not the way their relationship works. Billy never pushes because he knows Dom could never resist if he tried, and he won't force him. Dom trusts Billy and Billy would never abuse that. He understands that sometimes people need to have privacy, though he allows none for himself.

It's because Billy trusts Dom, too, that Dom doesn't hold back. Ever. He doesn't need to.

Dom never has to tell Billy how he feels about him because Billy always knows.

But Dom always tells him anyway, just in case.

Wow. I just...I loved. I love these kinds of drabbles, the running concept...and as a writer who believes your first word/sentance is your most important, I appreciate this fic all the more. Wonderful job. Thank you.
