Title: Doppelganger
Part 2/2
Author:
darkfaery1
Pairing: Loanshark/Dom, Dom/Billy (unrequited)
Rating: R for language
Summary: After a visit with Billy in Glasgow, Dom feels lonely and terribly jealous of Billy's relationship with his girlfriend. He takes a walk and finds himself in the wrong side of town where he meets a young man who looks astonishingly like his beloved.
Spoilers: This is a weird little AU story in which Dom meets Billy's ultra-nasty Loanshark character from Urban Ghost Story. I'm fairly certain I'm going to hell for this one.
Disclaimer: This twisted little tale is just for fun. Don't know Dom. Don't know Billy or his girlfriend. I've never met a Loanshark either.
Both chapters can be found here.
"Get out," ordered the driver as he pulled up to my hotel. I had barely closed the car door when he sped off, almost knocking me on my bruised arse.
I managed to avoid the eyes of the concierge and stumbled up to my room. I noticed the little red light on the phone blinking angrily, indicating that I had messages, but I was too exhausted to listen to them now. I checked the clock; it was only five a.m. I filled the ice bucket and made myself an ice pack out of a hand towel. I pressed it to my throbbing face, then fell onto the bed.
A moment later, the phone rang. It was Billy.
"Where in the hell were you all night? Why didn’t you answer your mobile?"
"I lost it--it got stolen," I murmured weakly. "My wallet too."
"Oh my god, are you all right?"
"Fine," I lied. "I'm fine."
"You don't sound fucking fine."
I felt tears stinging my eyes and started bawling into the phone. "Don't say that word again. Don't say 'fuck' anymore."
"Jesus, Dom, you're scaring the shite out of me. I'm coming over."
Without saying goodbye, I hung up the phone and drifted into unconsciousness.

I woke to the sound of the phone ringing again. My muscles had stiffened painfully and I could barely move. "Yeah?"
"Mr. Boyd is here," the concierge said. "Shall I send him up?"
"Please."
A few minutes later, I heard a knock at the door and I struggled to my feet. I didn't want to turn on the lights. I didn't want him to see me like this. I opened the door and stood in the shadows as the light from the corridor streamed into the room. "Hi, Bills."
Billy stepped inside and immediately reached for a light switch. I covered my eyes against the brightness.
"Ah, Jeez, Dom." His gentle voice was beyond concerned. "What in the hell happened?"
I shrugged and turned away from him. "Wrong place at the wrong time."
He put a hand on my shoulder which I tried to shrug off weakly. "Did you call the police?"
"No!" I snapped. "No police. Just forget about it."
Billy took my arm and led me to a chair. I sat down and whimpered in pain. My arse was so sore. I doubted I'd ever shit again.
He pulled another chair next to mine and regarded me anxiously. "Are you going to tell me what happened?"
I looked away, unable to meet his gaze. "I let myself get picked up."
Billy sighed and shook his head. "Her boyfriend did this to you?"
"It wasn't a woman."
"But I thought--"
"You were the only man in my life?" I smiled even though it hurt to do so. "He could have been your twin, Billy. I couldn't help myself. He was just so bloody beautiful. Unfortunately, he wasn't very nice."
Billy reached out his hand and placed it gently on my arm. "Dom, how could you let anyone treat you like this?"
"I felt apart when he looked at me with your eyes," I explained, raising my head. "I would do anything you wanted me to do."
The pained look on his face made my Billy even more exquisite, if that was possible. "All I've ever wanted is for you to be happy."
"I should want the same for you, but I don't, selfish bastard that I am. I just want you to be mine." I laughed at myself, but Billy remained silent. He got up and went to the bathroom to make another ice pack. "I'm supposed to fly back to Hawaii in a few hours. I'm filming in three days. I can't go looking like this."
"Just tell them you have the flu," Billy suggested helpfully. He switched ice packs with me and started emptying the closet. "In the meantime, you're coming home with me."
"No, I can't--"
He knelt down and looked up at me with that earnest affection I tried to find in the Loanshark's eyes. Why wasn't it enough for me? "You could have gotten yourself killed. I'm not letting you out of my sight until I stick you on a plane for home myself."
I let him pack for me as I slowly rose from the chair and limped over to him. He put his arms around me in a platonic hug. "If we were--lovers, Dom, you know I would never hurt you like this."
I grinned, forgetting the pain for a moment. "I know. I love you, Billy."
"I love you too, Dom, you sod."
