thailainthesky
Pairing: Billy/Dom, hints at another pairing (but don't want to spoil the surprise... muahaha.)
Rating: G
Summary: "I take it that he's coming over?" Billy tried to sound as cheerful as possible.
Disclaimer: This is all very not true. So don’t believe it.
Author’s Note: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV. Thank you all for the fantastic feedback.
Billy watched as Dom hung up the phone.
"No answer," sighed Dom. "I'll try later."
Billy was breaking up inside. An hour ago, he was worried about his best friend. Fifteen minutes ago he was contemplating at what point he was going to kiss him. But now, he felt alone. He had never felt this way around Dom. He always felt a sort of warm fuzzy feeling when Dom was with him, as if his energy crackled in the air and settled onto Billy. But not this time. There was an empty pang creeping through his body. He took a swig from his beer and reached for the remote.
"Y'alright, Billy?" Dom realised Billy hadn't really said anything since Dom put down the phone.
"Yeah... I just..." Billy didn't want to talk. He didn't know what to say anymore. Everything he had known, everything he had thought, had all disintegrated. He was clueless. And he still had no idea who Dom had feelings for.
"What?" Dom sat back down next to Billy and nudged him with his elbow. "C'mon, tell me. This is me, for crying out loud."
Billy wasn't sure whether to tell Dom what he had been thinking. That he thought Dom was talking about him. That he wished Dom was talking about him. It could ruin everything.
"Ah, nothing. Its just..."
A pause.
"...well, you've still not told me who this guy is."
Dom chuckled. He didn't even realise that he'd not told Billy who it was. He had been so busy worrying about telling Billy, that he'd forgotten one of the important details. He took another gulp from his beer.
"Sorry, Bills! I should have said!" He nudged an unimpressed Billy.
"Well?" Billy grew impatient.
"Well, this guy has stunningly blue eyes..."
"Oh." Billy didn't even need any more description. The mention of the eyes gave it away immediately. "Elijah."
Dom looked confused. There was a hint of anger in Billy's voice. Billy had been alright before he told him who it was. Dom knew that this was a mistake.
"Look, should I just stop talking about it?" Dom felt the air thicken with uneasiness. He felt like leaving, but he had nowhere else to go.
Billy saw the saddened, grey eyes look attentively at him, and his heart melted. How could he be like this to Dom? He had just opened up to him, and now he was pushing him away. Billy shook his head.
"No, Dom. I'm sorry. It's just a little weird, that's all. I didn't see it coming."
"Well, it's here. And it's not going away. Trust me, I've tried not to think about it, but I can't help it." Dom covered his face with his hands and rubbed his eyes. Billy threw an arm around the troubled Dom. He wasn't being very supportive, and loathed himself for it. He pushed aside what his heart was screaming, and listened to Dom.
"Don't worry, Dommie. I'm here for you. And I'm sure the rest of the guys will be." Out of the blue, Billy's phone rang. Both men jumped, and Billy answered the phone.
"Hello?" Billy looked at Dom, who was already walking towards the kitchen for another beer. He smiled.
"Hey Billy Boy!" It was Elijah. Billy froze. His smile dropped, and his tone of voice changed.
"Elijah. What d'ya want?" Billy felt himself cringe at the way he was talking to Elijah. It wasn't his fault that he felt this way; he was blameless in all this.
"Uh, I was just telling you that I'm at the airport and deciding whether to come to the Land O' Scots or not."
Billy frowned. He knew that if Elijah came over to Glasgow, Dom would tell him how he felt. What if he felt the same way? Billy shuddered.
"Its your choice, 'Lij. Dom is here too."
"Fantastic, a threesome." Elijah's innocent laugh irritated Billy. He had no idea about what would happen if he came over.
During this, Dom walked in carrying a beer and a bag of popcorn. He seemed impressed with the popcorn as he already had a mouthful of it. He sat down and looked over to Billy. There was a slight sparkle in Dom's eyes. Billy mouthed the word 'Elijah' and pointed to the phone. Dom sat up straight, and the sparkle fizzled away. Billy looked at Dom hesitantly, as if to ask whether he should give the phone to him. Dom nodded and reached out for the phone.
"'Ello, mate." Dom's voice imitated a cheerful tone to override the nervous one. He was always a good actor, on-screen and off.
"Hey Dom. You guys want some entertainment in the form of me?"
"Uh..." Dom hesitated, but decided the sooner, the better. "Yeah, why not."
"Great, I'll see you soon." He hung up.
Dom threw the phone onto the sofa and looked at Billy, who already had a whiskey in his hand.
"I take it that he's coming over?" Billy tried to sound as cheerful as possible.
"Yep."
Billy downed his whiskey and poured himself another one.
