thailainthesky + bottle of wine + monaboyd = mess. Please forgive me if I act a little strange. Part I, Part II
Dom was due to arrive today. For the last few hours he had been planning what to say to Billy. He hadn't been able to face him before, as things would have just been worse. Dom wouldn't have been able to meet those traumatized eyes, no matter how perfectly dazzling they might have been. Dom felt himself become more and more doubtful of whether this was a good idea, but it was too late. He was an hour away from meeting Billy at the airport. This was going to happen.
Billy arrived at the airport an hour before Dom was supposed to arrive. In his mind, everything that Dom had said was whirring around.
'Why couldn’t Dom talk to me? What’s happened to our friendship? Why does this hurt so much?'
Billy slouched in the hard, plastic seat and sat waiting for Dom, watching every plane land out of the window, wondering if each one that landed was the aeroplane.
And soon enough, there it was. Right on time.
Billy's heart leapt at the sight of every person who entered the airport. His eyes desperately searched for Dom. He had missed him so much. It had just been too long since he last saw him.
Dom walked towards the seating area. He so desperately wanted to turn around and fly back to New Zealand, but he knew that this was what he had to do. He had to tell Billy, despite knowing what his reaction would be. It wouldn't be good.
And suddenly, green blended with grey. Immediate eye contact. They both stood in silence. A million words rushed through Billy's head, but his brain didn't seem to connect with his mouth. Suddenly the silence was broken by a hysterical twelve-year-old who had spotted Dominic from afar.
"Oh my God! Oh... is it really you? I, like, soooo have to get an autograph. Please, Mr. Monaghan? Please?" The voice shrieked out and hung in the air. Dom winced.
"Sure," said Dom in the most cheerful tone of voice he could muster up. He was not only tired, but extremely nervous about being stood in front of Billy. Half of him wanted to just run up and hug Billy; he'd missed him that much. Yet, the other half was almost too shy to even say a word. Dom signed the girl's notepad and gave her a hug. "There you go." And with that the overjoyed girl ran off, and left the two men in silence once more.
Billy couldn't hack it anymore. Something had to be said or done. But he could only manage to utter one word in this panic-stricken moment;
"Missed..."
Dom grinned, and pounced on Billy. They stood there for what seemed hours, clutching onto each other as if it was the last time they'd see each other again. Billy's cheek was squished against Dom's, his arms wrapped around Dom's slender torso, with one hand resting on the back of Dom's neck, the other on Dom's lower back. He had needed this sort of cuddle for months.
Dom was the one to break the embrace.
"I hope you've cleaned your house, Boyd."
"As a matter of fact, Monaghan, I have." Billy smiled. "C'mon, let's get out of here."
