Title: Day Four

Summary: Billy, confused after the last day, decides to avoid Dom and everyone else on the cast, which leads to even more heartache.
Disclaimer: Fish are friends, not food- Erhm, I mean, all of this is purely from my imagination.
Billy isn’t exactly sure what happened yesterday. Dom kissed him. What did that mean? Did he kiss Billy just so Billy could shut up and have been kissed? Does he like Billy too? What in the hell was that?
Billy is actually nervous about seeing Dom and does not approach. He avoids Orlando, Elijah, and even Viggo while he’s at it. He’s feeling quite lonely, but after what he said to Orlando in his message yesterday and how he’ll probably react to anyone asking how he’s doing, perhaps it’s for the better that he’s not talking to them.
Dom has tried to come near him a few times but Billy has unfortunately given him the cold shoulder too, saying the bare minimum or not responding at all and Dom isn’t stupid, he’s gotten the message, and now Billy is starting to regret it because he misses Dom.
The fact that Billy is not talking to anyone helps him because he’s able to concentrate better on remembering his lines but it’s harder because he finds himself staring at people, especially Dom.
Dom is doing a very good job of pretending (or maybe not pretending) that everything is okay. He's not reacting at all to Billy's uncomfortableness. Maybe he's decided that he doesn't want to deal with Billy if Billy is going to avoid him. Billy doesn't like it because he doesn't want to have this tension between him and Dom and apparently he won't let himself get near Dom.
At lunch, Billy sits next to Astin and talks with him quietly. Elijah joins them and smiles at Billy, but it's a tense moment. Apparently Elijah isn't sure how to react to Billy right now either, which would make sense because Billy has been avoiding everyone. And Dom isn't even looking at him. Billy can't take it. He gets up and walks over to Dom, who sees him coming and looks at him calmly as he arrives. "Dom." He starts.
"Billy, can you make this quick? They need us back on set soon." Dom says before he gets further than that. Billy tries quietly to get Dom back.
"Dom." He says. He tries what Dom's done to him. Dom glances at him and says very slowly, almost in a way that belittles Billy, the reply.
"Billy." He pronounces both syllables very deliberately, looking at Billy with emotionless eyes. And Billy sees that there is none of the humour that usually rested there. He can't. And he shakes his head and walks away. When he glances back, Dom is eating again, Orlando looking concerned and Dom shaking his head angrily suddenly. Billy squeezes a fist until his fingernails dig into his palm and he winces. As he releases it, he sees deep red crescents that don't fade until the very end of shooting.
John offers to take everyone out to dinner and they agree, except for Dom, who heads home immediately, and Billy wishes he could follow him but it seems that nothing will repair the relationship right now. Which is why he finds himself seated between Viggo and Elijah, with Orlando next to Viggo. Elijah is oblivious and chatting across the table to Astin while Viggo and Orlando talk quietly to each other over something. And Billy is once again alone until Orlando speaks very clearly to him.
"What the fuck is going on between you and Dom?"
Billy glances up, startled. "He hates me." He replies. "Because I was stupid. And it's why you're mad at me and why Elijah's mad at me and why Viggo's probably mad at me for getting you mad at me."
Viggo glances at him. "Why would I be mad at you?" He looks so different out of costume, and yet completely and utterly Aragorn. And Billy feels a bit like Pippin. A bit in the way and making plenty of mistakes. Funny, wasn't Dom supposed to be more like Pippin? And Dom's like Merry, disappearing on him. And it hurts.
"Because I called up Orlando after confessing to Dom that I was in love with him and left a very rude message." Billy answers. "And now Dom hates me because apparently I insulted him somehow and I don't know what to think."
Elijah looks at him in surprise. Now all three have their eyes on him and he's preparing for thorough chewing out from Viggo. But Elijah surprises him and speaks. "Billy. Stop having a pity party." Billy turns to stare at him in shock. Elijah doesn't let him speak. "I'm mad at you because you've been acting like I'm your enemy all day. And I have had no clue why. And now that I know why, you need to really grow up and stop pitying yourself. You made a mistake with Dom, now don't take it out on me."
Orlando joins in. "And you've made a mistake at why I'm mad at you. I'm mad at you for treating Dom the way you are. You're avoiding him. All of us. And you know what? I don't really appreciate being called a wanking cunt on the phone and then not having a reason as to why."
Billy thinks back. Wanking cunt? Oh shit, I did say that. He winces. "Oh." He mutters. "Sorry about that."
Viggo looks at him very calmly. "After dinner, go see Dom. Try to talk to him. Maybe you'll figure out something. And at least find out if he hates you or not." He shakes his head. "I think you're blowing it out of proportion. Dom may have a temper sometimes, but the two of you have some kind of chemistry. Be it friendship or more. So don't let it get fucked up."
Billy stares at Viggo. "Can you all just stop giving me advice on my love life? Chemistry and whatever you told me, Orlando, and this is why I'm in this situation!" Viggo simply looks at him, and Elijah and Orlando simply look at Billy before turning to their dinners. Billy barely eats anything from his dinner before giving up and offering money to John who refuses it and tells him to go get some sleep because he looks out of it.
Billy doesn't exactly do that. Instead, he finds himself standing outside of Dom's door and knocking. It's eleven at night and he's probably the only person who would think of coming to see Dom at this time. He really hopes that Dom isn't going to ignore him. Thankfully, Dom doesn't. He opens the door and Billy looks at him.
"Billy." Dom says quietly. Billy bites his lip. Before he can reply, Dom opens the door and steps away. Billy follows him inside and to the couch, where Dom has two empty beer bottles and is watching television. Billy sits down on the couch and watches Dom ignore him very steadily.
"For chrissakes, Dom!" He finally says, frustrated. Dom looks at him and Billy gives him a furious glare. "Why the hell are you ignoring me?"
Dom raises an eyebrow slowly. "You wonder why I'm ignoring you? For the past four days, you've been acting completely different around me, making me uncomfortable, making Orlando and Elijah uncomfortable, making the cast uncomfortable because we weren't the usual Dom and Billy team. And then yesterday, you drop a bombshell on me and today, you still treat me, along with everyone else, like dirt even after I kissed you? And Orlando kept asking questions to me on set today about if I was still in love with you, and you're there and practically shooting daggers at me with your eyes-"
"What?" Billy shouts back. "Me? You were the one treating me like an infant! And what do you mean still in love with me?"
Dom looks stunned. "Are you really that dense, Billy? After what I said outside the club? And kissing you? What, did you think that I kissed you to make you happy or something? Or that I just wanted sex? How could you not notice? What did you think I wanted?"
Billy blinks at Dom and shakes his head, trying to form words. "I didn't.... I don't know. I don't know what I thought you wanted. I still don't know what you want." He finally says. Dom stares at him and there's finally something in those eyes, even if it's infuriation. Billy can't take it and he finally hears Dom speak.
"Billy." He sees something change. Sadness. But not anger. "How could you not?" And look at Dom. He's twisting his fingers together. A sure sign of nervousness. He tries to smile at Billy. And there's just something about that smile that's tired and scared that makes Billy release a breath suddenly.
"Dom." He whispers back. "Dom?"
Dom shrugs. "Yeah." He answers. He looks at Billy with those eyes that are questioning and Billy has very rarely seen this look for Dom. He gets up and shakes his head. "You leaving?" Dom asks. He nods. "What about... us? Are we okay?"
Billy looks at him. "I still love you, Dom. As a friend. And as more. But... what do you want?"
Dom is suddenly in front of him and kissing him quietly. His gaze says everything. You have to pick. Billy lets out a hard sigh and watches Dom for a moment.
"I'll see you tomorrow." He finally answers. "I'll try to have an answer for you."
Dom watches him leave. When he turns around, Dom is still watching. He offers a smile, but it's desolate. Billy understands it perfectly.
