Second half! Series stuff.
Title: Learning To Love (1/?)
Author: Sonata Night
Rating:
Pairing: DM/BB
Summary: Billy starts noticing Dominic's ways and gets confused.
Notes: Ahem. First ever DM/BB fic so c+c, but gently! Rather short first chapter, I do expect the next ones to be longer. Unless they aren't any good.
Accents
It's just the little things. The way that Dominic's fingers will clasp Billy's for a moment while they're doing commentary for "The Fellowship of the Rings" and nobody says a word. But then, that's Dominic for you. He's like that with everyone.
Or the way he looks at Billy with a smirk/smile, demanding that Billy join him, be it dancing, shopping, and to simply be themselves on set or in the trailer during Feet and makeup. The two of them up late talking, drinking (more often that not), and it's them. Their crazy ideas that just demand to be done.
It's accents. Dom's got one that's not as noticeable but there. It distinguishes him even more from Elijah and Sean and Orlando.
Billy's own accent is warm and when he gets drunk, his way of words running together quickly become even faster and more thick, but Dom can still understand perfectly.
Always being able to understand each other. All their jokes, that fluid connection, and that wonderful friendship.
But now Billy wasn't sure. Dom seemed to be... different. He couldn't explain it.
Dom's laughs seemed different. More... constricted. No longer easy and free. Like Dom was sometimes watching Billy for his reaction first.
And the way they accent each other seemed to be changing. Just a bit.
~~~
They were at a club when it first began to be apparent that Dom was different. That Billy himself was different.
It was Elijah, Orlando, Dom, Sean, Viggo, and Billy at a club. A song was playing in the background and Dom looked at him with his smirk-smile and his sparkling eyes. "Let's dance." He said. He got up, opening his arms to Billy, slightly gyrating his hips.
I sit and wait, does an angel contemplate my fate? And do they know the places we go when we're grey and old? `Cause I've been told that salvation lets their wings unfold, so when I'm lying in my bed, thoughts running through my head, and I feel that love is dead, I'm loving angels instead.
Billy got up and let himself be drawn into Dominic's arms, letting the music's beat carry him on it. They moved out away from the table, bodies lightly bumping, and Dominic met Billy's eyes and they both smiled as someone whistled. Billy turned to let his back brush Dom's chest.
And through it all, she offers me protection, a lot of love and affection, whether I'm right or wrong, and down the waterfall wherever it may take me; I know that life won't break me, when I come to call she won't forsake me, I'm loving angels instead
Dom's fingers ran up his side, causing Billy to laugh and move away slightly until Dom drew him back and tightened his fingers around Billy's hips. Billy turned his head. “Isn’t it surprising that we’re not dating?” He teased gently. Dominic winked at him.
When I'm feeling weak and my pain walks down a one-way street, I look above and I know I'll always be blessed with love, and as the feeling grows, she breathes flesh to my bones, and when love is dead, I'm loving angels instead
Dominic tightened his grip and dipped him playfully, although it didn't work for the situation at all. Billy chuckled again and wrapped his arms around Dom's neck loosely and Dom brought him up to spin him around. "You look good when you dance." Dominic said. "Very free, very seductive. I'd shag you."
Billy burst into laughter. "Thanks, Dom. I'm glad to know that I always have you if all else fails."
Dominic shrugged. "No problem." He answered cheerfully. Then he leaned in to kiss Billy's lips lightly and Billy smiled and kissed back without embarrassment or thinking a second thought.
And through it all, she offers me protection, a lot of love and affection, whether I'm right or wrong, and down the waterfall wherever it may take me; I know that life won't break me, when I come to call she won't forsake me, I'm loving angels instead
Billy let go of Dom and stepped away. "But let's go sit down and reconvene with the others. It's too hot out here to stay for long. As much fun as I'm having, I'm already sweating. This place is packed tonight."
Angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead (Oh, I'm gonna find me a man yeah) Angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, (yes, yes, yes) Angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, I'm loving angels instead, I'm loving angels instead (stead, stead stead)
Dom nodded and asked with a grin, "Are you sure I wasn't the one to get you all hot and bothered?"
Everyone knew Dommie was gay. And Orlando too. And sweet `Lijah was bi, just like Viggo. Sean and Billy were the straight ones. But Billy still danced more than willingly with Dom because that was just another one of their accents. They could do that.
Dominic did it to everyone. They all did, the hugging and kissing with no sexual urges behind it. Actually, that was a blatant lie. Sean and Billy were safe(st) from it, since the others knew there wasn't a chance with them. As for the others, undertones swam rich in almost every conversation. Especially Orlando and Dom. Those two could compete for slut of the group. But Billy didn't know who would win. Orlando didn't want a relationship necessarily, while Dommie was looking for one but unable to find it. He flirted with everyone and Billy didn't always understand why.
When Dommie slept with Bean, Billy was there to comfort him. Because it was that night at the club that it happened. Well, actually, it was the night before that the event occurred, but not until that night did Billy end up comforting Dom. Dom was leaning on his shoulder and was on the road to being brilliantly pissed. "I let him." Dominic mumbled. "He fucked me. I didn't even want it that much. I mean, it was sex, yes, but I didn't want it that much."
Billy sighed and leaned his forehead to Dom's gently. "Daft bloke." He said warmly, squeezing Dom's shoulder. "You'll be fine. You've got me, don't you?"
Dominic raised his head. "Yea." He answered. But it was there. It was different. His reply seemed different than usual. Orlando was eyeing Viggo with a slightly feral expression that Viggo was matching, obliging Orli with his own small, dangerous smile and locked gaze that was filled with heat. He was going to shag Orlando tonight. Billy raised his drink to his mouth and almost spat it out as Dom slumped against him. Obviously, Dom had not recovered a bit.
Dom tried to steal Billy's drink from him, frowning when Billy resisted. "You're a bad friend." He said, all serious. But Orli and Elijah began to snicker at him.
Sean rolled his eyes. "You should take him home."
Billy nodded and stood Dom up. "Hey, Dommie, we're going to the trailer, okay? You'll need some rest before tomorrow."
They took a cab and as Billy helped Dom up the stairs into the trailer, Dom leaned onto him. As Billy was tucking Dom into the bed, sighing at Dom and whispering to him that he was an idiot, but that he would find someone someday, Dom grabbed his wrist and pulled him to the bed. "Stay."
Billy nodded. "You need anything?"
Dom moaned something that was an affirmative, 'Yes, get a garbage can in case I need to vomit so that you don't become my target" kind of thing.
So Billy got up and went into the bathroom to get the can and bring it back in. Then he lay down and Dom rolled over to hug him again. Billy rubbed Dom's back as best he could, seeing as they were lying face to face and he only had one arm to use, in all actuality. "I'm sorry, Dommie." He said.
Dom lifted his head to kiss Billy again, lingering a moment too long, the alcohol on his breath evidence enough as to why. Billy smiled at him and shook his head. "I know, don't worry, Billy. I understand you and you understand me. That's why we're perfect for each other."
"That's why, Dommie. That's why." Billy answered in agreement softly, lying there, his heart going out to Dom. But at the same time, he was tired of having to do this with Dom, comfort him over and over. He just wished that Dom could find someone or stop doing this to himself. But at the same time, he knew that Dom was right when he said that they were perfect for each other.
Accent. He thought, before joining Dom in slumber.
Summary: Dom gets drunk at a party and Billy takes him to a room where he can sleep. But then Orlando enters the picture.
Notes: Writers Block sucks.
Tensions
"Ugh." Dom told Billy. Of course, it wasn't a clear ugh. It was more of a groan that sort of sounded like a noise. And Billy understood. It said to him, "I'm completely smashed so take care of me, please, because that's what we do for each other."
So he lifted Dom off his lap and chest, where he had two seconds ago collapsed, and helped him through the house, thank you Orlando for holding the party and having completely too much alcohol, until they got to a bedroom. He helped Dom lie down and sat down next to him. "You okay?"
"Mm." Dom answered. Which Billy knew was, "Let me sleep."
So he stole a pillow and walked over to a chair that he could never remember what they were called, but they were comfortable and he tucked the pillow behind his head and watched Dom idly as he drifted closer and closer to sleep in the early morning hours, making sure that Dom was okay.
He woke up to the sound of kissing. He knew the sound well. Kissing and hard, hot breaths. Murmurs. "Shouldn't...might wake..." "Don't care...need..." "Why me?" "Why not?" "...You'll get what you want..." "Love...blind. And so..." "Might not...be true..." And then the murmurs faded and Billy opened his eyes, recognized Orlando, watched through half-closed eyes as Dom sluggishly undressed himself, Orlando, and then Orlando reached between them and began to stroke. Breathing became ragged and although they tried to keep quiet, small moans were able to be heard. Billy didn't make a noise through it all, not even when Orlando cried out and went to kiss Dom but Dom turned his head and Orlando got his jaw instead.
And Billy couldn't say anything. Couldn't move. He couldn't do anything. Just waited until they fell asleep. And he was able to sleep too, their sounds in his head.
When Billy woke again, it was because he could hear Dom's soft muffled sobs. "Dommie?" He asked, getting up and walking over. Dom turned over to look at him, biting back his tears.
"I let him fuck me. Or at least wank me off." Dom said. "Orli. And that's still shagging in its own sense."
Billy crawled into the bed and Dom pressed his cheek against Billy's chest. Billy touched Dom's soft hair and began to stroke it. "Why? Why do you do it?"
"Because I want something that I can't have. And I keep hoping I can get it."
"But Orli isn't going to ever love you." Billy replied. "That's not what he wants."
Dom gave a bitter laugh. "No, it's not."
"Then why do you do it?" Billy asked gently. Dom looked at him with sad, tired eyes, still hazy from the alcohol. "I can't always help you, Dommie. You have to stop. I can't be the one to take care of you."
"Then why do you do it?" Dom asked, mimicking Billy. Billy sighed.
"Because I keep hoping you'll wake up and see how wrong everything is. But you don't." Billy answered. Dom gave another harsh laugh. "What?" Billy questioned him.
"Wake up. You're pretty funny, Billy." Dom answered. "I know exactly what I'm doing."
"Then why are you still doing it? Sean, Elijah, Orlando, Viggo, and now Orlando again. All within the last month. Why? You just keep running back to me and screwing yourself over." Billy said. He hated to be mean to Dom, but he was honestly sick of dealing with this. And Dom wasn't even seeing things clearly. "So, do whatever you want, Dom. But don't come to me with it anymore. I don't want to deal with taking care of you just to have you go back out there and screw yourself over again. That's something I won't do."
Dom looked at him angrily. "That's what best friends are for. To be there for each other, so that when they can't have one thing, at least they can have a best friend!" He shouted. Billy stared at him quietly, but his eyes were furious. "Don't look at me like that, Billy, because that's just not fair. You don't understand this at all."
"Well, from what you've said, we've gotten a pretty different fucking perspective on it!" Billy angrily replied. They were shouting loud enough to wake anyone listening. But he didn't care. "So, either grow up, Dom, and get over this, or don't come crying to me each time you get your dick yanked around, both figuratively and literally."
"Fuck you, Billy. I thought you might understand." Dom answered. Billy stood, pushing Dom not too gently onto the bed.
"I'm going to find another room to sleep in until we have to go. You can do whatever you want." Billy said.
~~~
The next two hours were Billy struggling to fall asleep, failing miserably, and going to shower before heading over to Feet. Apprehension really tore through him as he approached Feet. Opened the door. Dom was staring at nothing quite determinedly and Sean was reading, while Elijah was reaching to crank up the music.
Dom rubbed his eyes. “Christ, last night really was hell. I’ll have to thank Orlando for letting me get the supreme hangover of hangovers.”
Billy was quiet, watching him. But Dom continued to determinedly ignore him. Elijah and Sean exchanged glances. This was quite possibly the longest that Billy and Dom had gone without talking in the entire time. However, neither Sean nor Elijah commented on the silence.
Billy finally heaved a sigh. “So, how was everyone’s night?” He asked, pushing Dom on purpose.
Dom ignored him but a moment later, muttered something that sounded like, “Wanker.” Billy snorted softly an turned around. Let him be like that.
The anger of a few hours ago had returned but Billy finally realized that he had to push it aside. He had said things earlier that had been rather hurtful, even if they were mostly true. It would be a smart idea to maybe be nice, because he didn’t want to lose Dom, even if he was pretty angry at the moment. At the both of them.
Finally he spoke. “I was an asshole last night. How about you? Anyone else here act in a way that they’re not proud of? Because I did, and I’m sorry I did.”
Dom glanced at him and Billy did his best to give him puppy eyes. Dom smiled slightly and Billy made a small whimpering noise and wiggled a bit. By now, all four of them were close to laughing and when Billy softly asked, “Sblomie?”, Dom sighed, leaned over, ripped off the corner of his revised script, and balled it up before flicking it at Billy.
”Wanker.” He informed Billy. Billy laughed and watched Dom’s face relax. “I guess I got what you mean.” He said.
And just like that, it was all okay again. The music’s beat was strong, laughter rang out between the four, and somehow Billy felt relieved that he hadn’t lost Dom.

Summary: Billy notices that Dom has cute habits, and one night, finds himself in a rather surprising predicament.
Apples
Billy mused with a grin that perhaps charging Dom for all the apples he was eating would be smart because he was going through at least five a day. Was it possible to become addicted to fruit? He wondered this while watching Dom pick up another apple.
Dom wandered over with the apple that had spawned this thought. “Hey.” He said cheerfully.
”Hey.” Billy replied, leaning over for a bite. Dom didn’t let him, yanking back his arm. “Hey!” Billy repeated in protest. Dom took another bite, crunching happily, giving Billy a cheeky grin.
Billy had to laugh. Dom, if it wasn’t too cliché, was positively merry with delight at pissing off Billy, his eyes sparkling. Billy moved close and walked him backwards until he forced Dom to sit and pinned him in the air, his legs sliding under the arms, effectively pinning Dom. He caught Dom’s hand and pulled it back so that he could taste the apple. As he was chewing a light appeared in Dom’s eyes as he began to struggle slightly.
”Oh, no, you don’t.” Billy argued, trying to force Dom back. However, all he succeeded in doing was knocking them both over. He was trying to get up off Dom when Dom smacked him. “Ow! That hurt!”
”And that didn’t?” Dom replied indignantly. As Billy wiggled free, Dom followed and pinned him. “First you steal my food and then you try to kill me.”
Billy managed to escape from Dom and sat up. Dom was staring at him, on his knees. They hated kneeling for shots. It certainly didn’t make balancing fun. Sure enough, Dom wobbled and then promptly lost his balance and fell over. He looked up at Billy from on his back and Billy smiled.
”You look very cute like that, Dom.” He said. “Like a puppy.”
”I’m puppy cute?” Dom asked in mock annoyance, sitting up and pouting. He looked cute in a different way now, in a little boy didn’t get his way kind of thing.
”Would you rather I didn’t say you were cute and go back to trying to kill you?” Billy asked.
Dom paused. “No, I suppose that works better in my favour. Though it certainly doesn’t help reinforce your saying that you’re straight.”
”Idiot.” Billy said, pushing Dom over again. Dom grinned and got up before walking away with a cheeky grin still on his face. But when he turned around to wink at Billy, they held gazes and the smile turned strange.
~~~
It was a few days later when they were both at Dom’s house and relaxing that Billy had another interesting incident. They had managed to avoid getting totally drunk, only drinking two beers, three in Dom’s case, but they were good still, just slightly buzzed.
They’d been watching television, Billy sitting on the couch, Dom stretched out on the floor so he could annoy Billy, apparently, by poking at his feet and legs whenever he pleased. Finally, at two-fifteen in the morning, Billy muttered, “What say we go to sleep and get maybe a half decent night’s worth of rest?”
Dom poked his kneecap. “We’ll be getting two hours rest. How is that half decent?”
Billy swatted at Dom. “Fine, but it’s better than an hour’s worth.”
”I’m not getting up. Too tired. You come down here or carry me.” Dom said, flopping on his back. Billy looked at him. Dom was definitely acting strangely lately. But he shrugged and slid off the couch, taking with him a couple pillows and the blanket off the back where he’d thrown it earlier.
“Happy?” He offered a pillow to Dom, who took it and flipped over to face Billy, who was curling up on his side.
”No. This blanket is not big enough for both of us. Nor are these pillows. They were never intended to be slept on. I wasn’t thinking practicality, I was thinking matching them to the couch because the old ones were damaged.”
”If you call ruining two of the four in a pillow fight damage, that’s putting it lightly. There wasn’t a feather left in those things, and there were holes everywhere.” Billy snorted. He was lying on his right side, Dom on his left, and he could see Dom smile a little. Dom reached over and took Billy’s left hand to drape it loosely over his shoulders. “What’s this for?”
”Told you, blanket isn’t warm enough or big enough. I’m stealing you too.” Dom replied.
”Well, it’s not very comfortable.” Billy replied.
“Get comfortable.” Dom suggested, sounding a bit like Billy did sometimes to Dom, telling him not to steal the golf balls and what not. Billy glared. Dom glared back. He wasn’t really angry, Billy knew. So as he wiggled closer and stretched his other arm out to make himself more comfortable, he found that the closer he got, the more his arm could slide down and relax his muscles. Dom had actually curled up against his other arm, so that Billy could feel Dom’s hair brushing against his arm.
Billy was trying to ignore the slight stabbing pains that were arriving in his arms a few minutes later and so he opened his eyes to focus on something else. First thing he saw was Dom’s face about three inches away from him. The slight shadow of stubble, the gentle fluttertremble of his eyelids, and his sweet face relaxed into contentment as he drifted in sleep was a sort of beauty. Billy examined further, seeing lips parted slightly, feeling the soft breath of Dom against his face, and smiling as Dom gave a little yawn.
And then suddenly, the situation was rather strange, seeing as Billy was noting something else. He had a definite erection. He froze. Thankfully, Dom was pulled against him only on top. His lower half was not near Billy’s and so Billy was safe. But his arms were killing him so he pulled away gently. As he moved the blanket over to Dom and got up, he decided to go lay down in Dom’s bed.
As he found the soft, fluffy covers, he snuggled into them and began to wonder what had happened. After all, he had been noting Dom’s attractivities, which wasn’t a word but he was making it a word now, and there had been sensations too, that he was noting, so it was only natural that he got aroused. Even if he wasn’t a girl, his body didn’t care, apparently.
Billy wrote it off as exhaustion and the slight buzz letting his brain and body work in strange ways. Then he glanced at the clock. Three fifteen. Okay. Needing to sleep now. He had about an hour and fifteen minutes before he had to get up.
And sure enough, a few minutes later, he was close to sleep, warm and comfortable, his problem gone.
Title: Day One
Author: Sonata Night
Rating: G
Pairing: Dom/Billy
Fandom: LotR RPS
Theme: #1, Look Over Here
Summary: Billy discovers he’s in love. Dom confuses him a little.
Notes: There will be 29 more of these, a series. Each fic is a day. Yes. Anyways. Disclaimer now.
Disclaimer: Fish are friends, not food- Erhm, I mean, all of this is purely from my imagination.
Dom seems to call to Billy just with his movements. He doesn’t even need to raise his voice, although it is loud as he talks. He laughs with that intense sparkle in his eyes and gestures wildly as he tells a story. And his eyes flick over to Billy’s and he jerks his head a bit, saying Get back over here, you’re missing a great story.
And Billy does return, his hands carrying this round’s set of drinks and setting them down in front of respective owners, said owners being Orlando, Elijah, Viggo, Dom, and his own empty spot that he slides into as Dom gets up to let him pass. “What did I miss?” He says, looking at them expectantly.
”A hell of a great story!” Dom exclaims, his face full of that aching brightness and Billy wonders when Dom started calling him without even trying.
Dom’s become Billy’s best mate and they practically share a mind at times. But best mates don’t cause a shot of fuzzy warmth to climb up and down the spine and settle in the stomach and groin, giving that nervous excited crush feeling. The kind that makes thinking about his lips completely normal.
Looking at Dom again, Billy finds that he can look at those lips, and easily picture kissing him. What’s more, the idea is not all that unfathomable. In fact, it’s quite accepted and now that Billy thinks about it, a pretty good idea at that. Billy never knew this.
He focuses on Dom’s face. Green eyes that burn and shine with life practically every minute (unless Dom has passed out on a chair of some sort). When did they go from Dom’s eyes to ohgod, Dom’s eyes? Billy wonders as he notes the second feature now beautiful.
Dom’s hair is absolutely mad, as usual, but still looks as if a caress over it would be soft and thrilling. Billy almost reaches over to touch it, but pulls his hand back before it starts moving. He continues to look at the hair, however. Number three.
Dom stands with a grinning, “I’ve got to visit the loo.” Billy notes that his voice is anything at any time, low and enticing, loud and frantic, daring and lightly teasing, or just soft and warm. Each voice brings a different shiver into Billy’s belly. Number four.
Billy survey’s Dom’s body on a whim. Slim but still nicely muscled and how did Billy never notice that Dom’s arse is not an eyesore at all? Oh boy. Number five.
Of course, it’s more than physical features alone. It’s his entire personality and pretty much everything about him. Billy doesn’t know why he’s never really noticed this before in the three months he’s known Dom. Maybe because it’s always been there and he just realized it. Number six.
So, Billy concludes, I’m not exactly thinking about him in a best mate-ish way anymore, am I. It’s more of a crush, and it’s more like fucking love.
With that settled, Billy is now more confused than ever. Mostly because he’s never fancied a bloke before and because he doesn’t exactly know how Dom feels about him.
Orlando snaps him back to reality. “What’s on your mind?” He asks, leaning against Viggo comfortably while the older man raps an arm around his chest.
”Just, y`know, ordinary everyday thoughts. Normal stuff.” Billy lies.
Orlando nods and winks at him. “So you’re interested in Dom, pretty much.”
Billy blinks in surprise. “How-what-who-me-Dom-erhm?” He manages to get out, annoyed for sounding like a complete idiot, proud that he managed to make that much sense with his brain doing the confused thing right now, and suddenly worried that he’s obvious and he didn’t even know it, considering he’s just figured it out now.
”Don’t worry.” Orlando reassures him. “He didn’t see you checking him out. Don’t know how, actually, you were pretty much ogling him and drooling about an inch from his lap.” Viggo pinches his arm lightly. “That hurts, filthy human.”
”Be good, elf-boy.” Viggo replies against his ear, low and warning. Orlando cranes his neck back.
”If I’m bad, will you punish me?” He murmurs against Viggo’s mouth. Viggo’s lips curve into a smirk and he breathes softly against Orlando’s mouth.
”Yes…but not in the way you’d like.” Viggo whispers back, his lips hovering only a millimeter from Orlando’s for the longest second. Orlando leans in and Viggo pulls back, leaving Orlando to half slide into his lap.
”Fuck.” Orlando says from his new location. “Thanks a lot.” But he sits up again and looks at Viggo out of the corner of his eye. Billy can see love in his eyes and a wicked glint, and he knows that Orlando will be paying Viggo back for that. “And I’ve noticed that you’ve always looked at him differently than the others. Just wondered when you were going to figure it out.”
”I was-erhm-I mean-oh-“ and Billy knows he’s not going to get better at denying so instead he says, “Does he know?”
Orlando shakes his head. “Doubt it. Don’t see how he couldn’t notice, but he hasn’t, I don’t think. But-ah, shit.” He stops abruptly and Billy glances to his left.
Dom has returned and as he slides back into his seat, he says happily, “Billy.”
Billy looks at him. “Dommie.”
Dom nods, as if having found the correct answer. Then he finishes his beer. “I say we all turn in so that we don’t look like we’re auditioning for the next ‘Night of the Living Dead’.” And with that he repeats, “Billy.” His voice is much more solemn.
Billy continues to stare at him, becoming more confused by Dom. “Dom.” He reiterates. He feels like a parrot.
Dom nods again, his eyes still locked on Billy’s. “There’s madness behind my reason.” He says. Billy groans at his joke.
”You don’t have reason to begin with, Dommie.” He mutters, closing his eyes and shaking his head. He feels a light brush of lips on skin and realizes that Dom has kissed his nose.
Orlando is biting his lip, swallowing snickers that would emerge if Viggo was not whispering in his ear again, warning him. Elijah’s eyes are laughing as well and he winks at Billy, mouthing, “Lucky you.”
Billy frowns at him, watching as Dom leaves, still saying Look over here all the while.
”So.” Orlando manages to get that far as he raises his glass to his lips and takes a sip, then promptly sprays the table as he cannot hold it back any longer and cracks up. Beside him, Elijah has also dissolved into laughter and only Viggo is holding out a straight face, although Billy suspects that once he leaves, that will change.
Billy touches his nose slowly. “Yea, I think I’ll be leaving now too.” He says to the still laughing duo and the ever police third who nods at him.
As Billy steps outside, he glances about and there is Dom, still saying Look over here and leaning against a bench about ten feet away. Billy walks to him. “You going too?” Dom asks.
”Yeh.” Billy replies and Dom grins.
”Right then. See you around.” Dom tells him. “Oh, and Billy?”
”Dom?” Billy asks for the third time in five minutes.
”Billy.” Dom agrees. Although a fluorescent light burns above them and throws shadows in odd angles across his face and casts a yellow glow to him and although he is slightly inebriated and disheveled, Billy still finds himself noting that Dom is looking incredibly good and this is not a wonderful situation to be in, alone with Dom. “Well, see you around.”
”Hey, wait, what’s the madness behind your reason?” Billy asks suddenly.
”You’ll find out. Eventually.” Dom laughs over his shoulder as he disappears into the crowd. His presence still lingers with Billy and Billy watches nothing under the dark night sky and notices he is smiling.
This is the first day of being in love with Dom. He understands finally.
Rating: PG-13 for language
Theme: #2, News, letter
Summary: Little notes start to make their way to Billy and Dom all throughout the day.
Disclaimer: Fish are friends, not food- Erhm, I mean, all of this is purely from my imagination.
Billy opens his eyes to find the post-it note plastered to his forehead and takes it off. Good morning.He sits now, staring at it. Scrawled in Dom’s handwriting, it’s a good wake-up. So apparently Dom stopped by. Which means-
”Shit!” Billy sits upright. “What time is it?”
”Go back to bed.”
Billy turned his head to see Dom next to him. “Wha-“ He managed to say before realizing that Dom that Dom was in bed with him. “How-“ He still wasn’t doing the think thing. Then he remembered what he’d gotten up for. What time is it?”
”I don’t know. But when I was ever so rudely woken up by Peter telling me that it was supposed to storm like mad and we weren’t going to shoot until possibly later this afternoon, I told him that I’d tell you and save you the exasperation of wanting to kill him too.” Dom explains. Billy cranes his neck to look past Dom and sees the clock reads seven after five.
”And you felt the need to put this on my head?” Billy asks, exhausted and well too aware of the fact that Dom is lying in his bed, in his fucking bed, and it’s suddenly completely different to him. His body is reacting in ways that it never did before. Oh boy.
Dom leans over and kisses his forehead where the post-it was. “Go back to bed, Bills.”
Billy lies there, and although they have done it countless times before, having Dom sleeping in his bed is definitely affecting him. He would get up, but Dom would doubtlessly see the issue he was having through his flannel pants.
So he lies there, listening to Dom’s breathing, the way it was steady and slow, and it lulls him into his own sleep, filled with hazy dreams of touching and closeness that drive him mad and yet fill him with pleasure.
~~~
When he wakes up about three hours later, Dom is up and he can hear him in the kitchen. Billy yawns and feels something sticky on his forehead. “Not again.” He mutters, peeling off another note.
Breakfast for you when you’re ready.
Billy stretches out, lying in bed and enjoying the feel of sleeping in. Then he rolls out of bed and pads into the kitchen, seeing Dom is cooking breakfast, as promised. Dom glances over and smiles and Billy wants to hug him and kiss his lips and see how soft they are.
Dom’s usually up for anything. He wonders if Dom would be up for kissing. And touching. Shagging would be nice, too. He shakes that thought from his head and walks up behind Dom to steal a piece of sausage and bite off the end. Dom turns suddenly and grabs his wrist and holds it inches above the sausage.
”Nope, wait, Billy.” He grins. Billy frowns at him, which only makes his tilt of his lips broader. Billy has trouble thinking of many times when Dom can’t smile. He pouts and tries to lean past Dom and get the food with straining fingers but Dom’s grip is firm.
He can smell Dom, and he knows that Dom recently showered because he smells like Billy’s shampoo and that’s a really good smell on Dom, Billy thinks. So he moves away and hunts down a post-it note from the drawer, wanting payback for waking up twice with the sticky paper on his forehead.
He scribbles down You smell like my shampoo, thief. Then he scribbles another note and ticks the first over it before walking over to Dom who is working on eggs now; Billy is lifting his shirt from behind and pushing the paper against his chest hard to make sure it stays. It is only after he drops the shirt that he lets the mental image of Dom’s shoulders and back muscles sear into his memory.
Dom raises an eyebrow at him as he pulls off the note. “Thanks, Bills, lost a few hairs with that. Stings a bit.” He scowls. He reads the first note. “Thief, indeed.” He says. “But a clean thief.” And then he reads the second. “But I smell nice.” He says, looking at Billy. “I’m glad you think so. Anyways, breakfast’ll be finished in about ten minutes. Mostly because I want pancakes.”
Billy shrugs. “Just be sure to replenish my shower supplies if you’re going to keep on stealing them. Make some pancakes for me.” He replies to Dom before going to the bathroom to shower quickly.
The shower releases some of the tensions that have arisen recently after discovering that he’s interested in Dom. By the time he gets out, he has a fairly good grip on the fact that Dom is no longer just a friend to him and he has figured out how to control his brain (he hopes) in situations that might otherwise be a bit iffy.
When he returns to the kitchen, feeling clean and logical finally, Dom is waiting for him. “You could have started.” Billy tells him, feeling pleased that he didn’t. It’s more couple-ish that he waited. Dom shrugs.
”I only finished a couple minutes ago and you have a microwave if it’s too cold for you.” He answers. He has already loaded his plate with pancakes and syrup, leaving the eggs and sausages for Billy. Billy makes his own plate, taking a couple pancakes.
”You don’t want one of my sausages?” He asks Dom. Dom, who has just taken a bite of his pancakes, starts to laugh and almost chokes. “Oh, for fucks sake, Dom, and you know I didn’t mean it like that!”
Dom ignores him, wiping at the slight dampness at the corners of his eyes, still chuckling in between bites. “No thanks, Bills.” And then he reaches over just as Billy is about to bite off the end of the sausage and steals the fork, bites off half of it, and returns the fork to a stunned Billy’s hand. “Thanks.”
Billy stares at him for a moment before finally eating what’s left of the remaining food on his fork. “You’re welcome.” He says after he swallows.
Their talk is light and easy, teasing back and forth about assorted things, discussing the day’s shoot, and plans for the next free day. After they finish, Billy does the dishes while Dom calls Peter to find out what’s going on.
As it turns out, they are shooting later that day. So for a few hours, Billy and Dom simply hang out and watch television before heading out to get makeup and feet and then salvage a few hours of daylight for filming. When they aren’t needed, Billy wanders over to Orlando and talk to him and the conversation turns to Viggo. Of course, Orlando proceeds to ask Billy about Dom and Billy has no idea what to say.
”Are you going to tell him how you feel?” Orlando asks. “Are you going to see if he likes you too? What are you going to do?”
Billy can only take so much of the questioning that he cannot answer and so he goes back to Dom, only to find out that Dom and he are needed on set. So he goes to join Elijah and Sean and finds Elijah looking at him with wide curious eyes. When they get a moment alone, Elijah whispers, “So what’s going on with Dom?”
”Christ, not you too!” Billy groans and then focuses on acting, not social drama. He also makes a mental note never to tell Elijah or Orlando anything.
By the time filming is finished for the day, he is more than ready to go home. So he heads back to the chairs to get his feet and makeup removed. But when he goes to sit, he sees another sticky note. He picks it up and reads it.
Elijah and Orlando are talking about something and I don’t know what. Do you?
He looks up at Dom a few feet away, who is looking back. He shakes his head. “Not a clue. But d`you want to get a movie and we’ll discuss it then?”
Dom nods agreeably and they settle into the process that is the ending of the day and the switching from Merry and Pippin to Dom and Billy. They head back to Billy’s place after grabbing a movie and Billy settles into the comfort of his couch. Halfway through the movie, he notices that Dom has something poking out of his shirt. “Dom, your tag’s sticking out of your shirt.” He says.
Dom stretches to reach. “I can’t get it. You do it, okay?”
Billy knows Dom is lying. But he leans over and goes to push the tag in, muttering, “Lazy.” He stops when he realizes that it is not a tag but a folded up post-it. “Where are you hiding the bloody things?” He asks as he unfolds it.
Billy.
He raises an eyebrow. This cannot be a continuation of yesterdays- Dom is looking at him, waiting. He stares back, reaching for a pencil and scribbling down Dom? on the sticky note. Dom nods happily and leans against the arm of the couch, returning to the movie.
Billy eyes him for a moment and then gets up to go to the bathroom. He also makes a stop to his bedroom, putting the post-it on his wall. Just a little reminder of Dom when he’s feeling a bit sad. He notes that he has the starts of a Dom wall with a couple pictures that he put up last night and now the post it. He wonders what it will look like in a month.
He returns to the couch and Dom leans against him as he sits down. “You make a good pillow.” He mumbles. “Your wife’ll be lucky. And your kids.”
Billy glances at him. “What?”
”Nothing.” Dom answers, settling more firmly against him. Billy moves his arm so that Dom is not digging into his ribs and hears Dom sigh. “You ever think that it could only be us that does this?”
”What?” Billy asks again.
”Just you and me. I mean, how many other people could you do this with and not feel at all uncomfortable?” Dom tilts his head back. Billy shakes his head. “None, right?”
”Right, Dommie. Now, be quiet and watch the movie.” He says gently. He can’t talk about this right now. It’s just painful to him. He needs time to figure out how Dom feels and if he has a shot in hell. But he drapes his arm over Dom’s shoulder just the same and feels Dom relax against him.
The night passes calmly, not much talking, and Dom seems to understand that Billy is sad. He finally turns and says, “What’s up, Billy?” Billy looks at him and shrugs.
”Dunno, just kind of out of it today.” He answers.
Dom stares at him. “You’re lying.” He mutters before getting up and storming out of the room. “And you’ve been lying to me all day. You know what Orlando and Elijah are talking about.”
Billy lets him leave, unable to stop him and not sure what he wants to think. It almost seems like Dom is being more than friendly with him and at the same time, he questions it. It is Dom, after all. When he goes to find Dom a few minutes later, he finds him lying on Billy’s bed.
”Go away. I don’t want to hear what you have to say. If you can’t talk to me about problems, then I won’t talk to you about mine. Or a problem about us.” He says. “Leave me in the dark, and I’ll do the same to you.”
”Dommie.” Billy whispers. He sits on the bed. “I’m sorry. But I can’t talk about it yet. Not even to myself. I wouldn’t leave you out of it otherwise.”
”What about Orlando and Elijah?” Dom asks. “You know what they’re talking about. I saw it in your eyes when you were talking to them and when you answered me earlier.” He turns to stare at Billy with accusing eyes.
”It’s part of the problem and they don’t even know it.” Billy says. It’s the truth and it’s not exactly giving away anything to Dom. If he said, “I can’t talk about that either”, then Dom would know that it was about him, or somehow involving him. So this was the best way to say it.
Dom stares at him. “You won’t tell me anything more, will you.” He was saying it mostly to himself but Billy answers anyways.
”I will. But not now. Just don’t hate me, Dom. Don’t get mad at me. I wish I could tell you. Come here.” And he holds out his arms, asking for a hug more than offering one, and Dom sighs and sits up and gives him one, squeezing tightly.
”You put the post-it up.” Dom says. Billy nods. “Why?”
”So when I’m depressed, I can smile.” Billy answers. Dom seems satisfied with that answer and he holds onto Billy for a moment longer. “Are we okay?”
Dom smiles. “Yea, we’re fine. Don’t worry about it. Just give me a few more hours to sulk that I don’t get to know and I’ll be fine.” He isn’t as hurt anymore, Billy can tell, and he leaves to stop the movie and turn off the television. Dom passes him to go home, and Billy wonders how forgiven he is if Dom is already leaving. Dom says before he leaves, “See you in the morning, Billy. Get some sleep, because Peter’s going to be running us hard after missing part of today’s shooting.”
Billy nods and goes back on lie down on his bed, staring at the ceiling. There are several post-its. “Dom.” He groans as he gets up. Billy, sorry for confusing you. I’m not mad at you. But this is more fun, right?
He shakes his head. “So he did know I’d be upset.” He reads the next. I’ll be here for when you’re ready to talk about whatever it is, no matter what it’s about. Billy moves to the third one. I hope I make you smile now, because I’m guessing you’re a little sad.
He does smile at this. He returns to his pillows. He’ll leave the post-its there. They’re more special that way. He picks up the phone and dials Dom’s cell. “You did, Dommie. You did. Thanks.” He says as Dom answers, and then hangs up.
He knows Dom is smiling slightly too as he drives home.

Pairing: Dom/Billy
Fandom: LotR RPS

Summary: Billy is surprised by Dom.
Disclaimer: Fish are friends, not food- Erhm, I mean, all of this is purely from my imagination.
Dom was right about one thing, Billy thinks. Peter is working us hard today. Not that Billy hadn’t expected it. But it meant that he was going to be too tired to really enjoy himself when they went out.
Dom, on the other hand, was still going strong on energy and it had been one of the roughest shooting days so far. Billy had come in ready to apologize to Dom again if necessary. Dom had slung an arm around his shoulder as soon as he’d seen Billy and practically shouted good morning directly into Billy’s ear.
Orlando is sitting next to him, quiet. He hasn’t brought up Dom yet. Billy knows he’s trying not to, but he wants to. Billy finally speaks up to him. “Go ahead. Say what you want.” He’s tired, but Dom isn’t around and he doesn’t have to worry about the man hearing him.
Orlando tilts his head back to look over his shoulder rather than turn around. “Have you figured out anything? What to do?” His brown eyes are honestly concerned, and Billy is surprised.
”Not yet, no.” Billy shakes his head. “He knows something’s up and he cornered me on it. I told him nothing was up, he got mad at me, and I told him that I was sorry but I couldn’t tell him right now. And that you and Elijah are part of the problem.”
”We are?” Orlando looks upset to hear this; Billy is quick to amend himself.
”No, not a lot. It’s just that you question me and I don’t know what to say or do. I’m still trying to figure out what to do with Dom myself.” Billy answers gently. Orlando nods. “So just let Elijah to know to calm down a bit, y`know?” He turns back to Dom, watching him move.
”That would take a miracle or a few elephant tranquilizers.” Orlando says quietly as Elijah passes and the two of them stifle snickers until he is a fair distance away. “No, but good luck figuring it out. Honestly, I’d say he’s worth a shot.”
Billy looks at Orlando in surprise. “Why?” He asks. Orlando’s eyes have that bright, devilish, “I know something you don’t know” shine to them. “What aren’t you telling me?” He queries, his voice soft.
Orlando shrugs. “Just…ever since you two met, watching you has always been entertaining. You two have something special where you get each other and I wonder if he might not feel the same way. You should go find out.”
Billy snorts. “And if he doesn’t, then I’ve ruined a perfectly good friendship?” He asks. Orlando winces. “Yes, that’s the other part of it that we both know about.”
Orlando doesn’t say anything else for a few more minutes and then just as Billy is about to leave, he says softly, “Good luck.” Like he knows something that Billy doesn’t know. Like he knows what Billy is going to do before Billy does.
Billy is so jolted that he forgets his first line, earning a “Been smoking too much pipeweed, Pip?” from Dom and an annoyed look from Peter.
~~~
Look around your world, pretty baby, is it everything you hoped it’d be
Billy is dancing with Dom, much to his surprise. Dom had grabbed him and hauled him onto the dance floor before he could protest, not that he would have been able to put up much of a stand. He was too tired from the day, and the idea of Dom and him dancing was not all that bad of an idea. He’d contemplated not coming from how tired he was, but this was definitely good.
The wrong guy, the wrong situation, the right time to roll to me, roll to me
So now there is some song that Dom is bouncing to and Billy is watching him, laughing slightly and trying to figure out where Dom is getting all this energy. He decides to ask.
”How are you able to keep yourself up?” He shouts to Dom. Dom turns to look at him with shining eyes, oddly reminiscent of the kind of shine that was in Orlando’s earlier.
”I don’t know. I’m just full of energy!” He shouts back. “So, I’m out here burning it off. How is it that you’re able to keep yourself up, since you look about ready to pass out?”
And look into your heart, is it aching with some aimless need
Billy shrugs. “I guess that I know you’ll catch me, right?” He means it as a joke, but it comes out a bit too serious for his liking. Dom pauses for a moment, also hearing it, but it doesn’t faze him and he nods.
”Right, Bills!” He says. Orlando is nearby with Viggo, and they’re nearly shagging on the dance floor. Billy looks away because that triggers thoughts of shagging Dom on the dance floor and he doesn’t need those thoughts screwing with his head.
Is there something wrong and you can’t put your finger on it, right then, roll to me
He pulls back from Dom and says something stupid. “I want to tell you something.” Because as soon as he says it, he knows that his mouth is running away from him and he can’t catch it. He doesn’t want to say what is going to be said, but he’s going to.
Dom, who has been dancing with his arms in the air and his hips lightly brushing up against Billy’s, lowers his arms and stops with the pelvic swaying. “D`you wanna sit down? Is it something important? Should we go outside?”
”Outside…outside would be … good, I think.” Billy says. If he’s going to do this and screw it up, at least let him screw it up right.
So he follows Dom outside and Dom waits for him patiently as Billy finally catches up to his brain. He can’t very well drag Dom outside for absolutely nothing. And then his brain takes off again, full of rambling thoughts that won’t slow down. His skin is burning but it’s cold outside.
”Christ, Dom, I’m sorry for all of this.” He says as an opening line. Oh, that’s wonderful, Bills. Scare him right away. His mind shouts. The music is still playing and he can hear it from the inside of the building faintly.
Dom glances at him. “Are you okay, Billy? What’s going on?” His eyes, that pleasant mixture of grey and blue that Billy has never been quite able to pinpoint down, search Billy’s. Billy feels that little shiver run through him.
”Yea. It’s just…y`know how I couldn’t tell you want was going on and everything with Elijah and Orlando and I don’t want you to hate me but then Orlando started saying something about our getting each other and I don’t know if he’s right or not and apparently he knows what I’m going to do and that’s why he told me good luck and now I’m telling you and making a fool of myself.” Billy rushes through his words and finally manages to inhale, feeling his abused lungs recover.
Dom raises an eyebrow. “You’re not making a fool of yourself, you’re just babbling nonsense. You can’t make a fool of yourself unless there’s someone else around, too, because I’ve seen you at your worst, Billy.” His entire face lights up with his laugh and Billy sighs. “Billy?”
”Dom?” Dom is silent and Billy realizes that he is calmer. “Oh. Thanks.” He mumbles, pink staining his cheeks. Dom looks at him expectantly. “Okay, let’s try that again.”
He tries to figure out where to start. “Three days ago.”
”Three days ago.” Dom nods. “More logical. You started acting weird three days ago. Alright, continue.”
Billy steels himself. “Three days ago, I started to think about you in a … not exactly friendly manner. And now I’m not sure what to do. And I don’t think I should be telling you.”
”Not friendly in which sense, Billy?” Dom’s face is much more serious now and Billy begins to worry about what he’s done.
”Not friendly as in the ‘He’s cute, I’d shag him, I’d like to hold him and be with him for a long time’ sort of fashion?” Billy’s voice squeaks out. Squeaks. He’s lost his voice because his throat is constricting. He coughs, swallows after producing a minuscule amount of saliva in his now cotton-dry mouth, and coughs again. Then he tries to speak up. “And Orlando figured it out and proceeded to bring it up with Elijah and Viggo nearby. Viggo, thankfully, is not teasing me and pestering me about you nonstop, but Elijah and Orli are and I couldn’t tell you that and I was worried that you’d hate me. And then yesterday when you got mad at me, I didn’t want you to hate me for not telling you but I was afraid you’d hate me if I did so I didn’t know what to do so I sort of compromised and lied while telling the truth.”
Dom is not talking. Dom is simply staring. His eyes are now dark, still that grey-blue that can’t be pinpointed. But they are dark, darker than Billy’s ever seen them, and he’s more frightened than ever that Dom hates him. Dom lets out a slow sigh. “Fuck!” He finally says.
It is Billy’s turn to be silent and listen as Dom suddenly turns on him. “And you didn’t fucking say a word? Don’t you think I’d have rather known than think it was something I was doing? I mean, yes I can see it was something I was doing, but that was because I was being myself and that was what it was. I mean, at least I’d understand why you were acting so weird! Jesus, Billy, did you really think that? Billy?” He glares at Billy.
”Dom.” Billy whispers. He takes a step away. He is pleading for Dom to forgive him without ever speaking and Dom is just staring at him. But now that he’s admitted exactly how he feels about Dom, that’s also there in his eyes.
”Billy.” Dom has taken a step forward to match Billy, and now he takes another step, longer and faster, pinning Billy against the wall. “You honestly thought that I’d hate you. And you never fucking noticed.” His laugh is harsh but surprised. As Billy takes in the thought that perhaps Dom doesn’t hate him, Dom leans in to kiss him.
Billy is so surprised that all other thoughts fly out of his head, abandoned and uncared for, as this single one starts to repeat. Kissing, kissing and it’s Dom, kissing.
”What-“He mumbles as Dom pulls away.
”Billy.” Dom murmurs against his ear before disappearing back into the club. And Billy is left outside.
”Dom.” He says. Suddenly he’s just as confused as before. And he can’t face Dom right now. Not after this; he’s too embarrassed, scared, and confused to try to understand tonight. So he calls Orlando, leaving him a message of, “I’m never listening to you again. I’ll see you on set tomorrow, and make sure Dom doesn’t do something stupid.” Well, that’s a nice version, as the real version is interlaced with furious curses, and not all are in English.
He gets home and lies down on his bed and tries to figure out what exactly has happened. After three hours, he gives up and instead, submits himself to a lack of sleep and a confused, depressed pressure on his heart.
Title: Learning To Love (1/?)
Author: Sonata Night
Rating:
Pairing: DM/BB
Summary: Billy starts noticing Dominic's ways and gets confused.
Notes: Ahem. First ever DM/BB fic so c+c, but gently! Rather short first chapter, I do expect the next ones to be longer. Unless they aren't any good.
It's just the little things. The way that Dominic's fingers will clasp Billy's for a moment while they're doing commentary for "The Fellowship of the Rings" and nobody says a word. But then, that's Dominic for you. He's like that with everyone.
Or the way he looks at Billy with a smirk/smile, demanding that Billy join him, be it dancing, shopping, and to simply be themselves on set or in the trailer during Feet and makeup. The two of them up late talking, drinking (more often that not), and it's them. Their crazy ideas that just demand to be done.
It's accents. Dom's got one that's not as noticeable but there. It distinguishes him even more from Elijah and Sean and Orlando.
Billy's own accent is warm and when he gets drunk, his way of words running together quickly become even faster and more thick, but Dom can still understand perfectly.
Always being able to understand each other. All their jokes, that fluid connection, and that wonderful friendship.
But now Billy wasn't sure. Dom seemed to be... different. He couldn't explain it.
Dom's laughs seemed different. More... constricted. No longer easy and free. Like Dom was sometimes watching Billy for his reaction first.
And the way they accent each other seemed to be changing. Just a bit.
~~~
They were at a club when it first began to be apparent that Dom was different. That Billy himself was different.
It was Elijah, Orlando, Dom, Sean, Viggo, and Billy at a club. A song was playing in the background and Dom looked at him with his smirk-smile and his sparkling eyes. "Let's dance." He said. He got up, opening his arms to Billy, slightly gyrating his hips.
I sit and wait, does an angel contemplate my fate? And do they know the places we go when we're grey and old? `Cause I've been told that salvation lets their wings unfold, so when I'm lying in my bed, thoughts running through my head, and I feel that love is dead, I'm loving angels instead.
Billy got up and let himself be drawn into Dominic's arms, letting the music's beat carry him on it. They moved out away from the table, bodies lightly bumping, and Dominic met Billy's eyes and they both smiled as someone whistled. Billy turned to let his back brush Dom's chest.
And through it all, she offers me protection, a lot of love and affection, whether I'm right or wrong, and down the waterfall wherever it may take me; I know that life won't break me, when I come to call she won't forsake me, I'm loving angels instead
Dom's fingers ran up his side, causing Billy to laugh and move away slightly until Dom drew him back and tightened his fingers around Billy's hips. Billy turned his head. “Isn’t it surprising that we’re not dating?” He teased gently. Dominic winked at him.
When I'm feeling weak and my pain walks down a one-way street, I look above and I know I'll always be blessed with love, and as the feeling grows, she breathes flesh to my bones, and when love is dead, I'm loving angels instead
Dominic tightened his grip and dipped him playfully, although it didn't work for the situation at all. Billy chuckled again and wrapped his arms around Dom's neck loosely and Dom brought him up to spin him around. "You look good when you dance." Dominic said. "Very free, very seductive. I'd shag you."
Billy burst into laughter. "Thanks, Dom. I'm glad to know that I always have you if all else fails."
Dominic shrugged. "No problem." He answered cheerfully. Then he leaned in to kiss Billy's lips lightly and Billy smiled and kissed back without embarrassment or thinking a second thought.
And through it all, she offers me protection, a lot of love and affection, whether I'm right or wrong, and down the waterfall wherever it may take me; I know that life won't break me, when I come to call she won't forsake me, I'm loving angels instead
Billy let go of Dom and stepped away. "But let's go sit down and reconvene with the others. It's too hot out here to stay for long. As much fun as I'm having, I'm already sweating. This place is packed tonight."
Angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead (Oh, I'm gonna find me a man yeah) Angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, (yes, yes, yes) Angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, angels, angels, I'm loving angels instead, I'm loving angels instead, I'm loving angels instead (stead, stead stead)
Dom nodded and asked with a grin, "Are you sure I wasn't the one to get you all hot and bothered?"
Everyone knew Dommie was gay. And Orlando too. And sweet `Lijah was bi, just like Viggo. Sean and Billy were the straight ones. But Billy still danced more than willingly with Dom because that was just another one of their accents. They could do that.
Dominic did it to everyone. They all did, the hugging and kissing with no sexual urges behind it. Actually, that was a blatant lie. Sean and Billy were safe(st) from it, since the others knew there wasn't a chance with them. As for the others, undertones swam rich in almost every conversation. Especially Orlando and Dom. Those two could compete for slut of the group. But Billy didn't know who would win. Orlando didn't want a relationship necessarily, while Dommie was looking for one but unable to find it. He flirted with everyone and Billy didn't always understand why.
When Dommie slept with Bean, Billy was there to comfort him. Because it was that night at the club that it happened. Well, actually, it was the night before that the event occurred, but not until that night did Billy end up comforting Dom. Dom was leaning on his shoulder and was on the road to being brilliantly pissed. "I let him." Dominic mumbled. "He fucked me. I didn't even want it that much. I mean, it was sex, yes, but I didn't want it that much."
Billy sighed and leaned his forehead to Dom's gently. "Daft bloke." He said warmly, squeezing Dom's shoulder. "You'll be fine. You've got me, don't you?"
Dominic raised his head. "Yea." He answered. But it was there. It was different. His reply seemed different than usual. Orlando was eyeing Viggo with a slightly feral expression that Viggo was matching, obliging Orli with his own small, dangerous smile and locked gaze that was filled with heat. He was going to shag Orlando tonight. Billy raised his drink to his mouth and almost spat it out as Dom slumped against him. Obviously, Dom had not recovered a bit.
Dom tried to steal Billy's drink from him, frowning when Billy resisted. "You're a bad friend." He said, all serious. But Orli and Elijah began to snicker at him.
Sean rolled his eyes. "You should take him home."
Billy nodded and stood Dom up. "Hey, Dommie, we're going to the trailer, okay? You'll need some rest before tomorrow."
They took a cab and as Billy helped Dom up the stairs into the trailer, Dom leaned onto him. As Billy was tucking Dom into the bed, sighing at Dom and whispering to him that he was an idiot, but that he would find someone someday, Dom grabbed his wrist and pulled him to the bed. "Stay."
Billy nodded. "You need anything?"
Dom moaned something that was an affirmative, 'Yes, get a garbage can in case I need to vomit so that you don't become my target" kind of thing.
So Billy got up and went into the bathroom to get the can and bring it back in. Then he lay down and Dom rolled over to hug him again. Billy rubbed Dom's back as best he could, seeing as they were lying face to face and he only had one arm to use, in all actuality. "I'm sorry, Dommie." He said.
Dom lifted his head to kiss Billy again, lingering a moment too long, the alcohol on his breath evidence enough as to why. Billy smiled at him and shook his head. "I know, don't worry, Billy. I understand you and you understand me. That's why we're perfect for each other."
"That's why, Dommie. That's why." Billy answered in agreement softly, lying there, his heart going out to Dom. But at the same time, he was tired of having to do this with Dom, comfort him over and over. He just wished that Dom could find someone or stop doing this to himself. But at the same time, he knew that Dom was right when he said that they were perfect for each other.
Accent. He thought, before joining Dom in slumber.
Title: Learning To Love (2/?)
Author: Sonata Night
Rating: High R
Pairing: DM/BB, DM/OW
Summary: Dom gets drunk at a party and Billy takes him to a room where he can sleep. But then Orlando enters the picture.
Notes: Writers Block sucks.
"Ugh." Dom told Billy. Of course, it wasn't a clear ugh. It was more of a groan that sort of sounded like a noise. And Billy understood. It said to him, "I'm completely smashed so take care of me, please, because that's what we do for each other."
So he lifted Dom off his lap and chest, where he had two seconds ago collapsed, and helped him through the house, thank you Orlando for holding the party and having completely too much alcohol, until they got to a bedroom. He helped Dom lie down and sat down next to him. "You okay?"
"Mm." Dom answered. Which Billy knew was, "Let me sleep."
So he stole a pillow and walked over to a chair that he could never remember what they were called, but they were comfortable and he tucked the pillow behind his head and watched Dom idly as he drifted closer and closer to sleep in the early morning hours, making sure that Dom was okay.
He woke up to the sound of kissing. He knew the sound well. Kissing and hard, hot breaths. Murmurs. "Shouldn't...might wake..." "Don't care...need..." "Why me?" "Why not?" "...You'll get what you want..." "Love...blind. And so..." "Might not...be true..." And then the murmurs faded and Billy opened his eyes, recognized Orlando, watched through half-closed eyes as Dom sluggishly undressed himself, Orlando, and then Orlando reached between them and began to stroke. Breathing became ragged and although they tried to keep quiet, small moans were able to be heard. Billy didn't make a noise through it all, not even when Orlando cried out and went to kiss Dom but Dom turned his head and Orlando got his jaw instead.
And Billy couldn't say anything. Couldn't move. He couldn't do anything. Just waited until they fell asleep. And he was able to sleep too, their sounds in his head.
When Billy woke again, it was because he could hear Dom's soft muffled sobs. "Dommie?" He asked, getting up and walking over. Dom turned over to look at him, biting back his tears.
"I let him fuck me. Or at least wank me off." Dom said. "Orli. And that's still shagging in its own sense."
Billy crawled into the bed and Dom pressed his cheek against Billy's chest. Billy touched Dom's soft hair and began to stroke it. "Why? Why do you do it?"
"Because I want something that I can't have. And I keep hoping I can get it."
"But Orli isn't going to ever love you." Billy replied. "That's not what he wants."
Dom gave a bitter laugh. "No, it's not."
"Then why do you do it?" Billy asked gently. Dom looked at him with sad, tired eyes, still hazy from the alcohol. "I can't always help you, Dommie. You have to stop. I can't be the one to take care of you."
"Then why do you do it?" Dom asked, mimicking Billy. Billy sighed.
"Because I keep hoping you'll wake up and see how wrong everything is. But you don't." Billy answered. Dom gave another harsh laugh. "What?" Billy questioned him.
"Wake up. You're pretty funny, Billy." Dom answered. "I know exactly what I'm doing."
"Then why are you still doing it? Sean, Elijah, Orlando, Viggo, and now Orlando again. All within the last month. Why? You just keep running back to me and screwing yourself over." Billy said. He hated to be mean to Dom, but he was honestly sick of dealing with this. And Dom wasn't even seeing things clearly. "So, do whatever you want, Dom. But don't come to me with it anymore. I don't want to deal with taking care of you just to have you go back out there and screw yourself over again. That's something I won't do."
Dom looked at him angrily. "That's what best friends are for. To be there for each other, so that when they can't have one thing, at least they can have a best friend!" He shouted. Billy stared at him quietly, but his eyes were furious. "Don't look at me like that, Billy, because that's just not fair. You don't understand this at all."
"Well, from what you've said, we've gotten a pretty different fucking perspective on it!" Billy angrily replied. They were shouting loud enough to wake anyone listening. But he didn't care. "So, either grow up, Dom, and get over this, or don't come crying to me each time you get your dick yanked around, both figuratively and literally."
"Fuck you, Billy. I thought you might understand." Dom answered. Billy stood, pushing Dom not too gently onto the bed.
"I'm going to find another room to sleep in until we have to go. You can do whatever you want." Billy said.
~~~
The next two hours were Billy struggling to fall asleep, failing miserably, and going to shower before heading over to Feet. Apprehension really tore through him as he approached Feet. Opened the door. Dom was staring at nothing quite determinedly and Sean was reading, while Elijah was reaching to crank up the music.
Dom rubbed his eyes. “Christ, last night really was hell. I’ll have to thank Orlando for letting me get the supreme hangover of hangovers.”
Billy was quiet, watching him. But Dom continued to determinedly ignore him. Elijah and Sean exchanged glances. This was quite possibly the longest that Billy and Dom had gone without talking in the entire time. However, neither Sean nor Elijah commented on the silence.
Billy finally heaved a sigh. “So, how was everyone’s night?” He asked, pushing Dom on purpose.
Dom ignored him but a moment later, muttered something that sounded like, “Wanker.” Billy snorted softly an turned around. Let him be like that.
The anger of a few hours ago had returned but Billy finally realized that he had to push it aside. He had said things earlier that had been rather hurtful, even if they were mostly true. It would be a smart idea to maybe be nice, because he didn’t want to lose Dom, even if he was pretty angry at the moment. At the both of them.
Finally he spoke. “I was an asshole last night. How about you? Anyone else here act in a way that they’re not proud of? Because I did, and I’m sorry I did.”
Dom glanced at him and Billy did his best to give him puppy eyes. Dom smiled slightly and Billy made a small whimpering noise and wiggled a bit. By now, all four of them were close to laughing and when Billy softly asked, “Sblomie?”, Dom sighed, leaned over, ripped off the corner of his revised script, and balled it up before flicking it at Billy.
”Wanker.” He informed Billy. Billy laughed and watched Dom’s face relax. “I guess I got what you mean.” He said.
And just like that, it was all okay again. The music’s beat was strong, laughter rang out between the four, and somehow Billy felt relieved that he hadn’t lost Dom.
Summary: Billy notices that Dom has cute habits, and one night, finds himself in a rather surprising predicament.
Billy mused with a grin that perhaps charging Dom for all the apples he was eating would be smart because he was going through at least five a day. Was it possible to become addicted to fruit? He wondered this while watching Dom pick up another apple.
Dom wandered over with the apple that had spawned this thought. “Hey.” He said cheerfully.
”Hey.” Billy replied, leaning over for a bite. Dom didn’t let him, yanking back his arm. “Hey!” Billy repeated in protest. Dom took another bite, crunching happily, giving Billy a cheeky grin.
Billy had to laugh. Dom, if it wasn’t too cliché, was positively merry with delight at pissing off Billy, his eyes sparkling. Billy moved close and walked him backwards until he forced Dom to sit and pinned him in the air, his legs sliding under the arms, effectively pinning Dom. He caught Dom’s hand and pulled it back so that he could taste the apple. As he was chewing a light appeared in Dom’s eyes as he began to struggle slightly.
”Oh, no, you don’t.” Billy argued, trying to force Dom back. However, all he succeeded in doing was knocking them both over. He was trying to get up off Dom when Dom smacked him. “Ow! That hurt!”
”And that didn’t?” Dom replied indignantly. As Billy wiggled free, Dom followed and pinned him. “First you steal my food and then you try to kill me.”
Billy managed to escape from Dom and sat up. Dom was staring at him, on his knees. They hated kneeling for shots. It certainly didn’t make balancing fun. Sure enough, Dom wobbled and then promptly lost his balance and fell over. He looked up at Billy from on his back and Billy smiled.
”You look very cute like that, Dom.” He said. “Like a puppy.”
”I’m puppy cute?” Dom asked in mock annoyance, sitting up and pouting. He looked cute in a different way now, in a little boy didn’t get his way kind of thing.
”Would you rather I didn’t say you were cute and go back to trying to kill you?” Billy asked.
Dom paused. “No, I suppose that works better in my favour. Though it certainly doesn’t help reinforce your saying that you’re straight.”
”Idiot.” Billy said, pushing Dom over again. Dom grinned and got up before walking away with a cheeky grin still on his face. But when he turned around to wink at Billy, they held gazes and the smile turned strange.
~~~
It was a few days later when they were both at Dom’s house and relaxing that Billy had another interesting incident. They had managed to avoid getting totally drunk, only drinking two beers, three in Dom’s case, but they were good still, just slightly buzzed.
They’d been watching television, Billy sitting on the couch, Dom stretched out on the floor so he could annoy Billy, apparently, by poking at his feet and legs whenever he pleased. Finally, at two-fifteen in the morning, Billy muttered, “What say we go to sleep and get maybe a half decent night’s worth of rest?”
Dom poked his kneecap. “We’ll be getting two hours rest. How is that half decent?”
Billy swatted at Dom. “Fine, but it’s better than an hour’s worth.”
”I’m not getting up. Too tired. You come down here or carry me.” Dom said, flopping on his back. Billy looked at him. Dom was definitely acting strangely lately. But he shrugged and slid off the couch, taking with him a couple pillows and the blanket off the back where he’d thrown it earlier.
“Happy?” He offered a pillow to Dom, who took it and flipped over to face Billy, who was curling up on his side.
”No. This blanket is not big enough for both of us. Nor are these pillows. They were never intended to be slept on. I wasn’t thinking practicality, I was thinking matching them to the couch because the old ones were damaged.”
”If you call ruining two of the four in a pillow fight damage, that’s putting it lightly. There wasn’t a feather left in those things, and there were holes everywhere.” Billy snorted. He was lying on his right side, Dom on his left, and he could see Dom smile a little. Dom reached over and took Billy’s left hand to drape it loosely over his shoulders. “What’s this for?”
”Told you, blanket isn’t warm enough or big enough. I’m stealing you too.” Dom replied.
”Well, it’s not very comfortable.” Billy replied.
“Get comfortable.” Dom suggested, sounding a bit like Billy did sometimes to Dom, telling him not to steal the golf balls and what not. Billy glared. Dom glared back. He wasn’t really angry, Billy knew. So as he wiggled closer and stretched his other arm out to make himself more comfortable, he found that the closer he got, the more his arm could slide down and relax his muscles. Dom had actually curled up against his other arm, so that Billy could feel Dom’s hair brushing against his arm.
Billy was trying to ignore the slight stabbing pains that were arriving in his arms a few minutes later and so he opened his eyes to focus on something else. First thing he saw was Dom’s face about three inches away from him. The slight shadow of stubble, the gentle fluttertremble of his eyelids, and his sweet face relaxed into contentment as he drifted in sleep was a sort of beauty. Billy examined further, seeing lips parted slightly, feeling the soft breath of Dom against his face, and smiling as Dom gave a little yawn.
And then suddenly, the situation was rather strange, seeing as Billy was noting something else. He had a definite erection. He froze. Thankfully, Dom was pulled against him only on top. His lower half was not near Billy’s and so Billy was safe. But his arms were killing him so he pulled away gently. As he moved the blanket over to Dom and got up, he decided to go lay down in Dom’s bed.
As he found the soft, fluffy covers, he snuggled into them and began to wonder what had happened. After all, he had been noting Dom’s attractivities, which wasn’t a word but he was making it a word now, and there had been sensations too, that he was noting, so it was only natural that he got aroused. Even if he wasn’t a girl, his body didn’t care, apparently.
Billy wrote it off as exhaustion and the slight buzz letting his brain and body work in strange ways. Then he glanced at the clock. Three fifteen. Okay. Needing to sleep now. He had about an hour and fifteen minutes before he had to get up.
And sure enough, a few minutes later, he was close to sleep, warm and comfortable, his problem gone.

Theme: #1, Look Over Here
Summary: Billy discovers he’s in love. Dom confuses him a little.
Notes: There will be 29 more of these, a series. Each fic is a day. Yes. Anyways. Disclaimer now.
Disclaimer: Fish are friends, not food- Erhm, I mean, all of this is purely from my imagination.
Dom seems to call to Billy just with his movements. He doesn’t even need to raise his voice, although it is loud as he talks. He laughs with that intense sparkle in his eyes and gestures wildly as he tells a story. And his eyes flick over to Billy’s and he jerks his head a bit, saying Get back over here, you’re missing a great story.
And Billy does return, his hands carrying this round’s set of drinks and setting them down in front of respective owners, said owners being Orlando, Elijah, Viggo, Dom, and his own empty spot that he slides into as Dom gets up to let him pass. “What did I miss?” He says, looking at them expectantly.
”A hell of a great story!” Dom exclaims, his face full of that aching brightness and Billy wonders when Dom started calling him without even trying.
Dom’s become Billy’s best mate and they practically share a mind at times. But best mates don’t cause a shot of fuzzy warmth to climb up and down the spine and settle in the stomach and groin, giving that nervous excited crush feeling. The kind that makes thinking about his lips completely normal.
Looking at Dom again, Billy finds that he can look at those lips, and easily picture kissing him. What’s more, the idea is not all that unfathomable. In fact, it’s quite accepted and now that Billy thinks about it, a pretty good idea at that. Billy never knew this.
He focuses on Dom’s face. Green eyes that burn and shine with life practically every minute (unless Dom has passed out on a chair of some sort). When did they go from Dom’s eyes to ohgod, Dom’s eyes? Billy wonders as he notes the second feature now beautiful.
Dom’s hair is absolutely mad, as usual, but still looks as if a caress over it would be soft and thrilling. Billy almost reaches over to touch it, but pulls his hand back before it starts moving. He continues to look at the hair, however. Number three.
Dom stands with a grinning, “I’ve got to visit the loo.” Billy notes that his voice is anything at any time, low and enticing, loud and frantic, daring and lightly teasing, or just soft and warm. Each voice brings a different shiver into Billy’s belly. Number four.
Billy survey’s Dom’s body on a whim. Slim but still nicely muscled and how did Billy never notice that Dom’s arse is not an eyesore at all? Oh boy. Number five.
Of course, it’s more than physical features alone. It’s his entire personality and pretty much everything about him. Billy doesn’t know why he’s never really noticed this before in the three months he’s known Dom. Maybe because it’s always been there and he just realized it. Number six.
So, Billy concludes, I’m not exactly thinking about him in a best mate-ish way anymore, am I. It’s more of a crush, and it’s more like fucking love.
With that settled, Billy is now more confused than ever. Mostly because he’s never fancied a bloke before and because he doesn’t exactly know how Dom feels about him.
Orlando snaps him back to reality. “What’s on your mind?” He asks, leaning against Viggo comfortably while the older man raps an arm around his chest.
”Just, y`know, ordinary everyday thoughts. Normal stuff.” Billy lies.
Orlando nods and winks at him. “So you’re interested in Dom, pretty much.”
Billy blinks in surprise. “How-what-who-me-Dom-erhm?” He manages to get out, annoyed for sounding like a complete idiot, proud that he managed to make that much sense with his brain doing the confused thing right now, and suddenly worried that he’s obvious and he didn’t even know it, considering he’s just figured it out now.
”Don’t worry.” Orlando reassures him. “He didn’t see you checking him out. Don’t know how, actually, you were pretty much ogling him and drooling about an inch from his lap.” Viggo pinches his arm lightly. “That hurts, filthy human.”
”Be good, elf-boy.” Viggo replies against his ear, low and warning. Orlando cranes his neck back.
”If I’m bad, will you punish me?” He murmurs against Viggo’s mouth. Viggo’s lips curve into a smirk and he breathes softly against Orlando’s mouth.
”Yes…but not in the way you’d like.” Viggo whispers back, his lips hovering only a millimeter from Orlando’s for the longest second. Orlando leans in and Viggo pulls back, leaving Orlando to half slide into his lap.
”Fuck.” Orlando says from his new location. “Thanks a lot.” But he sits up again and looks at Viggo out of the corner of his eye. Billy can see love in his eyes and a wicked glint, and he knows that Orlando will be paying Viggo back for that. “And I’ve noticed that you’ve always looked at him differently than the others. Just wondered when you were going to figure it out.”
”I was-erhm-I mean-oh-“ and Billy knows he’s not going to get better at denying so instead he says, “Does he know?”
Orlando shakes his head. “Doubt it. Don’t see how he couldn’t notice, but he hasn’t, I don’t think. But-ah, shit.” He stops abruptly and Billy glances to his left.
Dom has returned and as he slides back into his seat, he says happily, “Billy.”
Billy looks at him. “Dommie.”
Dom nods, as if having found the correct answer. Then he finishes his beer. “I say we all turn in so that we don’t look like we’re auditioning for the next ‘Night of the Living Dead’.” And with that he repeats, “Billy.” His voice is much more solemn.
Billy continues to stare at him, becoming more confused by Dom. “Dom.” He reiterates. He feels like a parrot.
Dom nods again, his eyes still locked on Billy’s. “There’s madness behind my reason.” He says. Billy groans at his joke.
”You don’t have reason to begin with, Dommie.” He mutters, closing his eyes and shaking his head. He feels a light brush of lips on skin and realizes that Dom has kissed his nose.
Orlando is biting his lip, swallowing snickers that would emerge if Viggo was not whispering in his ear again, warning him. Elijah’s eyes are laughing as well and he winks at Billy, mouthing, “Lucky you.”
Billy frowns at him, watching as Dom leaves, still saying Look over here all the while.
”So.” Orlando manages to get that far as he raises his glass to his lips and takes a sip, then promptly sprays the table as he cannot hold it back any longer and cracks up. Beside him, Elijah has also dissolved into laughter and only Viggo is holding out a straight face, although Billy suspects that once he leaves, that will change.
Billy touches his nose slowly. “Yea, I think I’ll be leaving now too.” He says to the still laughing duo and the ever police third who nods at him.
As Billy steps outside, he glances about and there is Dom, still saying Look over here and leaning against a bench about ten feet away. Billy walks to him. “You going too?” Dom asks.
”Yeh.” Billy replies and Dom grins.
”Right then. See you around.” Dom tells him. “Oh, and Billy?”
”Dom?” Billy asks for the third time in five minutes.
”Billy.” Dom agrees. Although a fluorescent light burns above them and throws shadows in odd angles across his face and casts a yellow glow to him and although he is slightly inebriated and disheveled, Billy still finds himself noting that Dom is looking incredibly good and this is not a wonderful situation to be in, alone with Dom. “Well, see you around.”
”Hey, wait, what’s the madness behind your reason?” Billy asks suddenly.
”You’ll find out. Eventually.” Dom laughs over his shoulder as he disappears into the crowd. His presence still lingers with Billy and Billy watches nothing under the dark night sky and notices he is smiling.
This is the first day of being in love with Dom. He understands finally.
Title: Day Two
Author: Sonata Night
Rating: PG-13 for language
Pairing: Dom/Billy
Fandom: LotR RPS
Theme: #2, News, letter
Summary: Little notes start to make their way to Billy and Dom all throughout the day.
Disclaimer: Fish are friends, not food- Erhm, I mean, all of this is purely from my imagination.
Billy opens his eyes to find the post-it note plastered to his forehead and takes it off. Good morning.He sits now, staring at it. Scrawled in Dom’s handwriting, it’s a good wake-up. So apparently Dom stopped by. Which means-
”Shit!” Billy sits upright. “What time is it?”
”Go back to bed.”
Billy turned his head to see Dom next to him. “Wha-“ He managed to say before realizing that Dom that Dom was in bed with him. “How-“ He still wasn’t doing the think thing. Then he remembered what he’d gotten up for. What time is it?”
”I don’t know. But when I was ever so rudely woken up by Peter telling me that it was supposed to storm like mad and we weren’t going to shoot until possibly later this afternoon, I told him that I’d tell you and save you the exasperation of wanting to kill him too.” Dom explains. Billy cranes his neck to look past Dom and sees the clock reads seven after five.
”And you felt the need to put this on my head?” Billy asks, exhausted and well too aware of the fact that Dom is lying in his bed, in his fucking bed, and it’s suddenly completely different to him. His body is reacting in ways that it never did before. Oh boy.
Dom leans over and kisses his forehead where the post-it was. “Go back to bed, Bills.”
Billy lies there, and although they have done it countless times before, having Dom sleeping in his bed is definitely affecting him. He would get up, but Dom would doubtlessly see the issue he was having through his flannel pants.
So he lies there, listening to Dom’s breathing, the way it was steady and slow, and it lulls him into his own sleep, filled with hazy dreams of touching and closeness that drive him mad and yet fill him with pleasure.
~~~
When he wakes up about three hours later, Dom is up and he can hear him in the kitchen. Billy yawns and feels something sticky on his forehead. “Not again.” He mutters, peeling off another note.
Breakfast for you when you’re ready.
Billy stretches out, lying in bed and enjoying the feel of sleeping in. Then he rolls out of bed and pads into the kitchen, seeing Dom is cooking breakfast, as promised. Dom glances over and smiles and Billy wants to hug him and kiss his lips and see how soft they are.
Dom’s usually up for anything. He wonders if Dom would be up for kissing. And touching. Shagging would be nice, too. He shakes that thought from his head and walks up behind Dom to steal a piece of sausage and bite off the end. Dom turns suddenly and grabs his wrist and holds it inches above the sausage.
”Nope, wait, Billy.” He grins. Billy frowns at him, which only makes his tilt of his lips broader. Billy has trouble thinking of many times when Dom can’t smile. He pouts and tries to lean past Dom and get the food with straining fingers but Dom’s grip is firm.
He can smell Dom, and he knows that Dom recently showered because he smells like Billy’s shampoo and that’s a really good smell on Dom, Billy thinks. So he moves away and hunts down a post-it note from the drawer, wanting payback for waking up twice with the sticky paper on his forehead.
He scribbles down You smell like my shampoo, thief. Then he scribbles another note and ticks the first over it before walking over to Dom who is working on eggs now; Billy is lifting his shirt from behind and pushing the paper against his chest hard to make sure it stays. It is only after he drops the shirt that he lets the mental image of Dom’s shoulders and back muscles sear into his memory.
Dom raises an eyebrow at him as he pulls off the note. “Thanks, Bills, lost a few hairs with that. Stings a bit.” He scowls. He reads the first note. “Thief, indeed.” He says. “But a clean thief.” And then he reads the second. “But I smell nice.” He says, looking at Billy. “I’m glad you think so. Anyways, breakfast’ll be finished in about ten minutes. Mostly because I want pancakes.”
Billy shrugs. “Just be sure to replenish my shower supplies if you’re going to keep on stealing them. Make some pancakes for me.” He replies to Dom before going to the bathroom to shower quickly.
The shower releases some of the tensions that have arisen recently after discovering that he’s interested in Dom. By the time he gets out, he has a fairly good grip on the fact that Dom is no longer just a friend to him and he has figured out how to control his brain (he hopes) in situations that might otherwise be a bit iffy.
When he returns to the kitchen, feeling clean and logical finally, Dom is waiting for him. “You could have started.” Billy tells him, feeling pleased that he didn’t. It’s more couple-ish that he waited. Dom shrugs.
”I only finished a couple minutes ago and you have a microwave if it’s too cold for you.” He answers. He has already loaded his plate with pancakes and syrup, leaving the eggs and sausages for Billy. Billy makes his own plate, taking a couple pancakes.
”You don’t want one of my sausages?” He asks Dom. Dom, who has just taken a bite of his pancakes, starts to laugh and almost chokes. “Oh, for fucks sake, Dom, and you know I didn’t mean it like that!”
Dom ignores him, wiping at the slight dampness at the corners of his eyes, still chuckling in between bites. “No thanks, Bills.” And then he reaches over just as Billy is about to bite off the end of the sausage and steals the fork, bites off half of it, and returns the fork to a stunned Billy’s hand. “Thanks.”
Billy stares at him for a moment before finally eating what’s left of the remaining food on his fork. “You’re welcome.” He says after he swallows.
Their talk is light and easy, teasing back and forth about assorted things, discussing the day’s shoot, and plans for the next free day. After they finish, Billy does the dishes while Dom calls Peter to find out what’s going on.
As it turns out, they are shooting later that day. So for a few hours, Billy and Dom simply hang out and watch television before heading out to get makeup and feet and then salvage a few hours of daylight for filming. When they aren’t needed, Billy wanders over to Orlando and talk to him and the conversation turns to Viggo. Of course, Orlando proceeds to ask Billy about Dom and Billy has no idea what to say.
”Are you going to tell him how you feel?” Orlando asks. “Are you going to see if he likes you too? What are you going to do?”
Billy can only take so much of the questioning that he cannot answer and so he goes back to Dom, only to find out that Dom and he are needed on set. So he goes to join Elijah and Sean and finds Elijah looking at him with wide curious eyes. When they get a moment alone, Elijah whispers, “So what’s going on with Dom?”
”Christ, not you too!” Billy groans and then focuses on acting, not social drama. He also makes a mental note never to tell Elijah or Orlando anything.
By the time filming is finished for the day, he is more than ready to go home. So he heads back to the chairs to get his feet and makeup removed. But when he goes to sit, he sees another sticky note. He picks it up and reads it.
Elijah and Orlando are talking about something and I don’t know what. Do you?
He looks up at Dom a few feet away, who is looking back. He shakes his head. “Not a clue. But d`you want to get a movie and we’ll discuss it then?”
Dom nods agreeably and they settle into the process that is the ending of the day and the switching from Merry and Pippin to Dom and Billy. They head back to Billy’s place after grabbing a movie and Billy settles into the comfort of his couch. Halfway through the movie, he notices that Dom has something poking out of his shirt. “Dom, your tag’s sticking out of your shirt.” He says.
Dom stretches to reach. “I can’t get it. You do it, okay?”
Billy knows Dom is lying. But he leans over and goes to push the tag in, muttering, “Lazy.” He stops when he realizes that it is not a tag but a folded up post-it. “Where are you hiding the bloody things?” He asks as he unfolds it.
Billy.
He raises an eyebrow. This cannot be a continuation of yesterdays- Dom is looking at him, waiting. He stares back, reaching for a pencil and scribbling down Dom? on the sticky note. Dom nods happily and leans against the arm of the couch, returning to the movie.
Billy eyes him for a moment and then gets up to go to the bathroom. He also makes a stop to his bedroom, putting the post-it on his wall. Just a little reminder of Dom when he’s feeling a bit sad. He notes that he has the starts of a Dom wall with a couple pictures that he put up last night and now the post it. He wonders what it will look like in a month.
He returns to the couch and Dom leans against him as he sits down. “You make a good pillow.” He mumbles. “Your wife’ll be lucky. And your kids.”
Billy glances at him. “What?”
”Nothing.” Dom answers, settling more firmly against him. Billy moves his arm so that Dom is not digging into his ribs and hears Dom sigh. “You ever think that it could only be us that does this?”
”What?” Billy asks again.
”Just you and me. I mean, how many other people could you do this with and not feel at all uncomfortable?” Dom tilts his head back. Billy shakes his head. “None, right?”
”Right, Dommie. Now, be quiet and watch the movie.” He says gently. He can’t talk about this right now. It’s just painful to him. He needs time to figure out how Dom feels and if he has a shot in hell. But he drapes his arm over Dom’s shoulder just the same and feels Dom relax against him.
The night passes calmly, not much talking, and Dom seems to understand that Billy is sad. He finally turns and says, “What’s up, Billy?” Billy looks at him and shrugs.
”Dunno, just kind of out of it today.” He answers.
Dom stares at him. “You’re lying.” He mutters before getting up and storming out of the room. “And you’ve been lying to me all day. You know what Orlando and Elijah are talking about.”
Billy lets him leave, unable to stop him and not sure what he wants to think. It almost seems like Dom is being more than friendly with him and at the same time, he questions it. It is Dom, after all. When he goes to find Dom a few minutes later, he finds him lying on Billy’s bed.
”Go away. I don’t want to hear what you have to say. If you can’t talk to me about problems, then I won’t talk to you about mine. Or a problem about us.” He says. “Leave me in the dark, and I’ll do the same to you.”
”Dommie.” Billy whispers. He sits on the bed. “I’m sorry. But I can’t talk about it yet. Not even to myself. I wouldn’t leave you out of it otherwise.”
”What about Orlando and Elijah?” Dom asks. “You know what they’re talking about. I saw it in your eyes when you were talking to them and when you answered me earlier.” He turns to stare at Billy with accusing eyes.
”It’s part of the problem and they don’t even know it.” Billy says. It’s the truth and it’s not exactly giving away anything to Dom. If he said, “I can’t talk about that either”, then Dom would know that it was about him, or somehow involving him. So this was the best way to say it.
Dom stares at him. “You won’t tell me anything more, will you.” He was saying it mostly to himself but Billy answers anyways.
”I will. But not now. Just don’t hate me, Dom. Don’t get mad at me. I wish I could tell you. Come here.” And he holds out his arms, asking for a hug more than offering one, and Dom sighs and sits up and gives him one, squeezing tightly.
”You put the post-it up.” Dom says. Billy nods. “Why?”
”So when I’m depressed, I can smile.” Billy answers. Dom seems satisfied with that answer and he holds onto Billy for a moment longer. “Are we okay?”
Dom smiles. “Yea, we’re fine. Don’t worry about it. Just give me a few more hours to sulk that I don’t get to know and I’ll be fine.” He isn’t as hurt anymore, Billy can tell, and he leaves to stop the movie and turn off the television. Dom passes him to go home, and Billy wonders how forgiven he is if Dom is already leaving. Dom says before he leaves, “See you in the morning, Billy. Get some sleep, because Peter’s going to be running us hard after missing part of today’s shooting.”
Billy nods and goes back on lie down on his bed, staring at the ceiling. There are several post-its. “Dom.” He groans as he gets up. Billy, sorry for confusing you. I’m not mad at you. But this is more fun, right?
He shakes his head. “So he did know I’d be upset.” He reads the next. I’ll be here for when you’re ready to talk about whatever it is, no matter what it’s about. Billy moves to the third one. I hope I make you smile now, because I’m guessing you’re a little sad.
He does smile at this. He returns to his pillows. He’ll leave the post-its there. They’re more special that way. He picks up the phone and dials Dom’s cell. “You did, Dommie. You did. Thanks.” He says as Dom answers, and then hangs up.
He knows Dom is smiling slightly too as he drives home.
Dom was right about one thing, Billy thinks. Peter is working us hard today. Not that Billy hadn’t expected it. But it meant that he was going to be too tired to really enjoy himself when they went out.
Dom, on the other hand, was still going strong on energy and it had been one of the roughest shooting days so far. Billy had come in ready to apologize to Dom again if necessary. Dom had slung an arm around his shoulder as soon as he’d seen Billy and practically shouted good morning directly into Billy’s ear.
Orlando is sitting next to him, quiet. He hasn’t brought up Dom yet. Billy knows he’s trying not to, but he wants to. Billy finally speaks up to him. “Go ahead. Say what you want.” He’s tired, but Dom isn’t around and he doesn’t have to worry about the man hearing him.
Orlando tilts his head back to look over his shoulder rather than turn around. “Have you figured out anything? What to do?” His brown eyes are honestly concerned, and Billy is surprised.
”Not yet, no.” Billy shakes his head. “He knows something’s up and he cornered me on it. I told him nothing was up, he got mad at me, and I told him that I was sorry but I couldn’t tell him right now. And that you and Elijah are part of the problem.”
”We are?” Orlando looks upset to hear this; Billy is quick to amend himself.
”No, not a lot. It’s just that you question me and I don’t know what to say or do. I’m still trying to figure out what to do with Dom myself.” Billy answers gently. Orlando nods. “So just let Elijah to know to calm down a bit, y`know?” He turns back to Dom, watching him move.
”That would take a miracle or a few elephant tranquilizers.” Orlando says quietly as Elijah passes and the two of them stifle snickers until he is a fair distance away. “No, but good luck figuring it out. Honestly, I’d say he’s worth a shot.”
Billy looks at Orlando in surprise. “Why?” He asks. Orlando’s eyes have that bright, devilish, “I know something you don’t know” shine to them. “What aren’t you telling me?” He queries, his voice soft.
Orlando shrugs. “Just…ever since you two met, watching you has always been entertaining. You two have something special where you get each other and I wonder if he might not feel the same way. You should go find out.”
Billy snorts. “And if he doesn’t, then I’ve ruined a perfectly good friendship?” He asks. Orlando winces. “Yes, that’s the other part of it that we both know about.”
Orlando doesn’t say anything else for a few more minutes and then just as Billy is about to leave, he says softly, “Good luck.” Like he knows something that Billy doesn’t know. Like he knows what Billy is going to do before Billy does.
Billy is so jolted that he forgets his first line, earning a “Been smoking too much pipeweed, Pip?” from Dom and an annoyed look from Peter.
~~~
Look around your world, pretty baby, is it everything you hoped it’d be
Billy is dancing with Dom, much to his surprise. Dom had grabbed him and hauled him onto the dance floor before he could protest, not that he would have been able to put up much of a stand. He was too tired from the day, and the idea of Dom and him dancing was not all that bad of an idea. He’d contemplated not coming from how tired he was, but this was definitely good.
The wrong guy, the wrong situation, the right time to roll to me, roll to me
So now there is some song that Dom is bouncing to and Billy is watching him, laughing slightly and trying to figure out where Dom is getting all this energy. He decides to ask.
”How are you able to keep yourself up?” He shouts to Dom. Dom turns to look at him with shining eyes, oddly reminiscent of the kind of shine that was in Orlando’s earlier.
”I don’t know. I’m just full of energy!” He shouts back. “So, I’m out here burning it off. How is it that you’re able to keep yourself up, since you look about ready to pass out?”
And look into your heart, is it aching with some aimless need
Billy shrugs. “I guess that I know you’ll catch me, right?” He means it as a joke, but it comes out a bit too serious for his liking. Dom pauses for a moment, also hearing it, but it doesn’t faze him and he nods.
”Right, Bills!” He says. Orlando is nearby with Viggo, and they’re nearly shagging on the dance floor. Billy looks away because that triggers thoughts of shagging Dom on the dance floor and he doesn’t need those thoughts screwing with his head.
Is there something wrong and you can’t put your finger on it, right then, roll to me
He pulls back from Dom and says something stupid. “I want to tell you something.” Because as soon as he says it, he knows that his mouth is running away from him and he can’t catch it. He doesn’t want to say what is going to be said, but he’s going to.
Dom, who has been dancing with his arms in the air and his hips lightly brushing up against Billy’s, lowers his arms and stops with the pelvic swaying. “D`you wanna sit down? Is it something important? Should we go outside?”
”Outside…outside would be … good, I think.” Billy says. If he’s going to do this and screw it up, at least let him screw it up right.
So he follows Dom outside and Dom waits for him patiently as Billy finally catches up to his brain. He can’t very well drag Dom outside for absolutely nothing. And then his brain takes off again, full of rambling thoughts that won’t slow down. His skin is burning but it’s cold outside.
”Christ, Dom, I’m sorry for all of this.” He says as an opening line. Oh, that’s wonderful, Bills. Scare him right away. His mind shouts. The music is still playing and he can hear it from the inside of the building faintly.
Dom glances at him. “Are you okay, Billy? What’s going on?” His eyes, that pleasant mixture of grey and blue that Billy has never been quite able to pinpoint down, search Billy’s. Billy feels that little shiver run through him.
”Yea. It’s just…y`know how I couldn’t tell you want was going on and everything with Elijah and Orlando and I don’t want you to hate me but then Orlando started saying something about our getting each other and I don’t know if he’s right or not and apparently he knows what I’m going to do and that’s why he told me good luck and now I’m telling you and making a fool of myself.” Billy rushes through his words and finally manages to inhale, feeling his abused lungs recover.
Dom raises an eyebrow. “You’re not making a fool of yourself, you’re just babbling nonsense. You can’t make a fool of yourself unless there’s someone else around, too, because I’ve seen you at your worst, Billy.” His entire face lights up with his laugh and Billy sighs. “Billy?”
”Dom?” Dom is silent and Billy realizes that he is calmer. “Oh. Thanks.” He mumbles, pink staining his cheeks. Dom looks at him expectantly. “Okay, let’s try that again.”
He tries to figure out where to start. “Three days ago.”
”Three days ago.” Dom nods. “More logical. You started acting weird three days ago. Alright, continue.”
Billy steels himself. “Three days ago, I started to think about you in a … not exactly friendly manner. And now I’m not sure what to do. And I don’t think I should be telling you.”
”Not friendly in which sense, Billy?” Dom’s face is much more serious now and Billy begins to worry about what he’s done.
”Not friendly as in the ‘He’s cute, I’d shag him, I’d like to hold him and be with him for a long time’ sort of fashion?” Billy’s voice squeaks out. Squeaks. He’s lost his voice because his throat is constricting. He coughs, swallows after producing a minuscule amount of saliva in his now cotton-dry mouth, and coughs again. Then he tries to speak up. “And Orlando figured it out and proceeded to bring it up with Elijah and Viggo nearby. Viggo, thankfully, is not teasing me and pestering me about you nonstop, but Elijah and Orli are and I couldn’t tell you that and I was worried that you’d hate me. And then yesterday when you got mad at me, I didn’t want you to hate me for not telling you but I was afraid you’d hate me if I did so I didn’t know what to do so I sort of compromised and lied while telling the truth.”
Dom is not talking. Dom is simply staring. His eyes are now dark, still that grey-blue that can’t be pinpointed. But they are dark, darker than Billy’s ever seen them, and he’s more frightened than ever that Dom hates him. Dom lets out a slow sigh. “Fuck!” He finally says.
It is Billy’s turn to be silent and listen as Dom suddenly turns on him. “And you didn’t fucking say a word? Don’t you think I’d have rather known than think it was something I was doing? I mean, yes I can see it was something I was doing, but that was because I was being myself and that was what it was. I mean, at least I’d understand why you were acting so weird! Jesus, Billy, did you really think that? Billy?” He glares at Billy.
”Dom.” Billy whispers. He takes a step away. He is pleading for Dom to forgive him without ever speaking and Dom is just staring at him. But now that he’s admitted exactly how he feels about Dom, that’s also there in his eyes.
”Billy.” Dom has taken a step forward to match Billy, and now he takes another step, longer and faster, pinning Billy against the wall. “You honestly thought that I’d hate you. And you never fucking noticed.” His laugh is harsh but surprised. As Billy takes in the thought that perhaps Dom doesn’t hate him, Dom leans in to kiss him.
Billy is so surprised that all other thoughts fly out of his head, abandoned and uncared for, as this single one starts to repeat. Kissing, kissing and it’s Dom, kissing.
”What-“He mumbles as Dom pulls away.
”Billy.” Dom murmurs against his ear before disappearing back into the club. And Billy is left outside.
”Dom.” He says. Suddenly he’s just as confused as before. And he can’t face Dom right now. Not after this; he’s too embarrassed, scared, and confused to try to understand tonight. So he calls Orlando, leaving him a message of, “I’m never listening to you again. I’ll see you on set tomorrow, and make sure Dom doesn’t do something stupid.” Well, that’s a nice version, as the real version is interlaced with furious curses, and not all are in English.
He gets home and lies down on his bed and tries to figure out what exactly has happened. After three hours, he gives up and instead, submits himself to a lack of sleep and a confused, depressed pressure on his heart.
