Part 21 - Admission
This place - this perfect moment - is an enchanting isle among the hours of the day.
Propped up on his elbow, Billy lovingly gazes down at Dom as he sleeps, fingers of his right hand trailing through the wild spill of blonde hair falling over Dom’s forehead, his left tracing the sculpted muscles of Dom’s taut stomach. Moonlight streaming through the window bathes Dom’s lithe body in soft, blue hues, making him appear as innocent as a child, almost angelic.
Murmuring incoherently, Dom shifts a fraction of an inch to his left, pressing his side firmly into Billy’s body, needing to be closer to his lover, even in sleep. His left arm is tucked through the space under Billy’s shoulder, his head rolling to one side, against Billy’s arm, while his left hand rests possessively on Billy’s bare waist.
Smiling softly, Billy dips his head until his nose is pressed to Dom’s hair. He smells of Hawaii, salt water, sand and palm trees, with just a hint of coconut. It fills Billy with pride that Dom also smells of love and passion, and of their lovemaking.
Breath catching, Dom’s eyes flutter open, and a moment later he smiles sleepily at the man above him.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
“Why are you awake?” Dom asks with drowsy eyes, his hand slowly sliding up and down Billy’s side in a lazy caress. “Aren’t you tired?”
“Didn’t want to close my eyes.” Leaning down, Billy presses a feathery kiss to Dom’s lips. “Was afraid you were a dream and that I’d wake up to find you gone.”
“I’m real, baby,” Dom replies, eyes soft with understanding. “But feel free to touch me all you like to make sure. I insist.”
Smiling, Billy ducks his head again to capture Dom’s lips in another long, lingering kiss, tongue darting out for a taste, fingers sliding through Dom’s hair. His other hand cups Dom’s cheek, thumb sliding over the stubble before moving lower to stroke Dom’s neck in soft caresses. It’s another habit that he’s been unable to break, despite his best efforts. Well, maybe not best efforts, as Dom loves it when Billy touches him there. It reminds them both of that intimate day in December, when Billy arrived in Hawaii and they spent countless hours wrapped up in each others arms.
“How long have you been watching me?” Dom asks quietly when they finally part.
“A while. Just can’t stop touching you, looking at you.” Blushing, Billy focuses on the steady, even rhythm of Dom’s chest rising and falling as he breathes. “Does it bother you?”
“No,” Dom replies with a provocative little smile, a sparkle of amusement making his eyes twinkle. “I know you like to watch.”
Laughing lightly, Billy begins stroking and rubbing Dom’s toned stomach in long, slow caresses with the hand not tangled in Dom’s hair. Knowing all too well how sensitive Dom’s belly button is, he traces the circle with the tip of his finger before dipping inside.
“Mmmmm.” Eyes fluttering closed for a moment, Dom shivers under Billy’s touch and then gazes up at him again. The look in his eyes is so open and trusting that it makes Billy’s heart skip a beat.
“You’re like a cat, Dommie,” Billy teases, lowering his head and tracing the shell of Dom’s ear with his tongue before nibbling on a fleshy lobe. “You’ll do anything if someone will rub your tummy.”
“Good thing nobody is allowed to touch my belly but you then,” Dom counters, eyes darkening with arousal.
Lips meet again, more passionately, tongues tangling and teeth nibbling gently. Both are breathing heavier when they finally part.
“So, not that I’m complaining or anything,” Billy says, eyes serious. “But how did you get here? I wasn’t expecting you for another three weeks, at least.”
“It’s called an airplane, Bills,” Dom teases. “Fancy flying machine. Much faster than taking a boat across the ocean.”
A moment later Dom is wriggling and squealing with laughter as Billy’s fingers dance over his ribs, tickling him mercilessly.
“You know what I mean, yeh daftie,” Billy fires back before burying his face in Dom’s neck, biting gently at the cords there.
Curling into Billy’s welcoming embrace, Dom groans, arms pulling their bodies close. “Fuck me, Bills.”
“Already did that,” Billy murmurs in return, nibbling at Dom’s tender skin where shoulder and neck meet. “Couldn’t help myself, I wanted you so bad.”
“Mmmmm. I know how you feel,” Dom replies with a lusty sigh. “Wanted you, too. Still want you.”
Winding a leg around Billy’s and holding his arms firmly, Dom rolls onto his back again, causing Billy to lay between his parted limbs. Eyes meeting and holding, Dom smiles seductively, rolling his hips to bring their growing erections together.
“Again, Dommie?” Lust flares in Billy’s deep green eyes, the feeling of Dom sprawled wantonly beneath him making him hard and aching for release.
Nodding and lifting his arms above his head to brace himself against the headboard, Dom replies with a low groan, “Again.”
Sinking into Dom’s willing and aroused body, Billy loses himself in their passion, not caring if he ever comes out of it. As long as he has Dom, nothing else matters.
* * *
Fingers carding through Dom’s wild hair in an attempt to bring it some semblance of order, Billy smiles.
“It’s getting really long,” he comments.
“I know,” Dom replies with a heavy sigh, rubbing his beard stubbled cheek against Billy’s chest. “Writers finally got off their arses and wrote something into the script about Emilie finding some scissors so I can cut it. Feel like a bloody girl.”
“Oh, I don’t know. I kind of like it this way,” Billy murmurs, fingertips dancing lightly across the curls tickling the nape of Dom’s neck. “Running my fingers though it, all soft and silky.”
“On second thought-”
Before Dom can finish the sentence, Billy’s mouth has captured his in a soft kiss, teeth gently nibbling on Dom’s lower lip. He gasps when Dom’s long fingers wrap around his cock and begins stroking it in a firm, but gentle rhythm, thumb rubbing the sensitive head.
“Dommie,” he pants, hips thrusting into Dom’s fist with a will of their own. “Wait.”
Immediately, Dom’s hand stills.
“You don’t want to?” he asks, not hiding his disappointment.
“No, it’s not that.” Hand cupping Dom’s cheek, their eyes meet. “Let me suck you. Want to taste you, love.”
“Later, I promise,” Dom purrs, sliding his tongue across his lower lip. “First want you inside me again.”
“But aren’t you sore?” Billy asks, concerned. “I just about drove you through the bloody mattress the first time, and how many times since then? I don’t want to hurt you.”
“I’ve felt so empty without you, baby,” Dom murmurs. “And it feels so good when you’re inside me.”
Eyes soft and pleading, Dom’s long, slender fingers trace the curve of Billy’s ribcage, caressing the warm, pale skin as he watches and waits.
“It doesn’t hurt, Bills. I promise.”
Unable to say no to Dom, Billy nods and rolls over so he’s cradled between Dom’s thighs. Sliding forward, he’s not surprised when he slips into Dom with very little resistance. He’s still snug and hot, but the lubricant and come from their previous rounds together have left Dom’s entrance slick and pliant.
A lazy, intensely satisfied smile spreads across Dom’s face as his legs wrap around Billy’s trim waist and tighten, burying Billy to the hilt.
“Yeah,” he whimpers softly, blue-grey eyes smoky. “Right there.”
No longer frantic for each others touch, they rock together slowly and gently, mouths meeting wetly, tongues tangling in a lazy dance. Small hand wrapping around Dom’s cock, Billy lovingly strokes him in time to his gentle thrusts until Dom’s back arches and he comes, hands clutching Billy’s biceps and a soft, breathless cry falling from his swollen lips. The sight and sound of Dom’s blissful release is more than enough to push Billy over the edge as well, and a moment later he is filling Dom with his warmth once again. Bodies now completely spent, Billy carefully withdraws, immediately cuddling Dom to his chest, the moist, ragged breath flowing over his own flushed skin.
“You alright, love?” he asks, fingers stroking Dom’s quivering back.
“I love you, Bills,” Dom sighs, body limp, too weary to move. “So much.”
Feeling hot tears against his chest, Billy nudges Dom’s chin up so their eyes can meet. When he realizes that Dom is trembling, Billy’s heart lurches and his stomach twists into knots.
“What’s wrong, Dommie?” he asks, brushing away the dampness beneath his lover’s eyes. Looking at Dom’s hands resting against his chest, he can make out the word ‘Apart’ written in black sharpie, with a line through the middle of it. Once again, Dom’s most inner thoughts are laid out for all to see. “You okay?”
“I just missed you, Bills. So fucking much. Don’t think I could’ve gone much longer being so far away from you,” Dom admits in a small voice.
“Me too, love. Me too.” His own eyes glistening, Billy hugs Dom tighter, murmuring comforting, loving words until they both fall into an exhausted sleep.
* * *
A whisper interrupts the comfortable silence in the bedroom, flowing over the entwined bodies like silk on bare skin.
“Dom?”
Sighing softly, Dom’s hot, moist breath caresses Billy’s neck as he shifts, long limbs heavy with sleep, body draped over Billy like a possessive, Dom-shaped blanket.
The warmth is soothing; the weight of his lover sprawled bonelessly over him is a welcome feeling. It reminds Billy of New Zealand and Hawaii, and the countless times he’s woken in this exact position. Exhausted from rounds of passionate lovemaking, wanting to be as close as possible. Oh, how he’s missed it.
“Love?”
Murmuring incoherently, Dom snuggles closer, the tip of his pink tongue darting out to lap at Billy’s neck like a kitten, searching for warm milk.
“C’mon Dommie,” Billy says, slightly louder, but still quiet. “Wake up.”
Hand sliding down Dom’s lean back, Billy cups a soft cheek, rubbing and squeezing it in long, gentle caresses. His other hand slips under Dom’s arm, stroking the delicate skin there.
Gasping at the tender touch, Dom finally awakens, nuzzling and nibbling Billy’s neck down to his collarbone as his hardening cock rubs lustily against Billy’s firm thigh.
“Bills,” he groans sleepily, voice gravely with disuse. “Again, baby?”
Continuing to caress the soft curves, Billy smiles and presses several kisses to Dom’s wild hair.
“Sorry, love. Need you to move.”
Blinking several times to clear the sleep from his eyes, Dom struggles to focus on Billy’s face. Words finally registering, he braces his weight on his hands and starts to shift over. “I’m too heavy, aren’t I? You should’ve said something sooner, baby.”
“No, you’re fine,” Billy says, kissing Dom’s beard stubbled cheek. “I just need to get up.”
“Why?” Dom asks with a small pout.
“I’m fecking starving.”
As if on cue, Billy’s stomach lets out a low growl.
Dom laughs lightly. “I wonder why. We were too busy shagging and forgot about dinner, didn’t we?” he asks, fighting back a yawn.
Pushing himself up onto his elbows, Billy looks around the moonlit room. “Where’s the phone? Need to call for some takeaway.”
“Bills, I don’t think anyone will deliver at-” Dom pauses to look over at the clock on the nightstand. “Nearly half two in the bloody morning.”
Groaning, Billy falls back onto the soft pillows. “You’re right.” Brow furrowing, he purses his lips in thought.
“What?” Dom asks.
“I’m trying to remember what I’ve got in my kitchen for us to eat,” Billy replies. “Nothing’s coming to mind.”
Eyes twinkling mischievously, Dom nuzzles closer for a moment.
“Wait here,” he murmurs seductively, tongue darting out to cover Billy’s neck in feathery soft, tickling kitten licks, causing him to groan and roll his hips. “I’ll be right back.”
Before Billy can recover, Dom crawls over him, slips out of bed and crosses the room to the doorway, stark naked, a little unsteady on his feet. The breathtaking sight of his lover’s bare body exposed to him, bathed in soft moonlight, causes Billy’s cock to swell and throb with need. Fuck, but Dom is gorgeous.
“You okay, Dommie?” he manages to ask.
Picking the cordless phone up off the floor where Billy had dropped it earlier, Dom looks over his shoulder.
“Just a wee bit drunk,” he replies cheekily.
“Drunk?” Billy asks, brow furrowing in confusion.
“On love,” Dom adds softly, ducking his head shyly and meeting Billy’s intense green eyes through a fringe of long, dark eyelashes and mussed blonde hair. Tossing the phone across the room to Billy, he grins and then is gone, bare feet padding on the hardwood floor as he disappears down the hall to the kitchen.
Less than three minutes later, Dom returns, carefully balancing a dinner plate, piled high with several sandwiches, a bowl with something Billy can’t quite make out in the dim light, and two water bottles, one tucked under each arm. The sight is made complete by a bag of crisps, held between Dom’s teeth.
“You flew half way around the world and then bought food before I got home?” Billy asks skeptically with a laugh, sitting up before taking the plate and bag of crisps from Dom. “How did you know I’ve got shite in my kitchen?”
Snorting in derision, Dom sets the bowl down on the mattress, revealing several small bunches of glistening grapes. Water bottles are placed on the nightstand before Dom crawls back into bed, pressing into Billy’s side as they lay back down, stretching out on the sheets, Billy on his side and Dom on his back.
“Even though I know you rarely have anything good in your kitchen, Bills, I can’t take credit for any of this,” he replies, breath catching when Billy’s arm slips possessively around his waist and a tender kiss is pressed to the Elvish tattoo on his shoulder. “It was Maggie who stocked your cupboards.”
Surprised, Billy pulls back a few inches so their eyes can meet. “My sister?”
“Who do you think picked me up at the airport, ya silly wee cunt?” Dom asks, with a laugh of his own at Billy’s expression.
“She knew?” Billy asks incredulously. “And she didn’t tell me you were coming?”
“Hey, I didn’t know I was coming until Evey put the plane ticket in my hand,” Dom says. “We were both in the dark about this trip.”
“Huh?”
Between bites of the roasted turkey and cheese sandwich they share, Dom recounts the events of the last twenty-four hours that brought him from Hawaii to Scotland, and into Billy’s arms.
“Wow,” Billy says when Dom finishes, genuinely touched by the generosity of Dom’s cast mates. “That’s amazing.”
“I thought so. They worked really hard to surprise us, so go easy on Maggie, yeah?”
Agreeing, Billy nods thoughtfully. “And here I was, thinking maybe you’d been planning this and were just torturing me by not telling me.”
“I would never do that, baby,” Dom says softly, cupping Billy’s scruffy cheek with one hand and smoothing down his hair with the other. “Never.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
“Flight felt like it was never going to end,” Dom muses aloud, laying his head against Billy’s chest. “Kept checking my watch every five minutes.”
“What time did you get in?”
“Landed just after half three, got through customs and Maggie dropped me off about an hour later.” Reaching over to the bowl sitting on the mattress by his hip, Dom picks up a few grapes. “I think she knew I wanted to be alone here.”
“Yeah?” Billy asks, eyebrow arched. “What did you do to entertain yourself?”
Rolling onto his back, Dom meets Billy’s gaze and then places a grape between his teeth, grinning wickedly. A moment later Billy’s mouth closes over his, and then half of the grape is gone, Billy licking his lips and smiling suggestively.
“I wandered around, seeing what changes you’ve made,” Dom continues after swallowing the other half of the grape. “Love the kitchen, by the way. Brilliant color.”
“I’m quite fond of it,” Billy interjects with a knowing smile, fingers sliding through Dom’s hair affectionately.
“Then I took off my clothes, crawled into your bed and waited for you to come home.”
“Our bed,” Billy corrects, kissing Dom’s nose. “This is your home, even if you don’t live here all the time.”
Upon hearing the familiar words, last spoken during their last night together in Hawaii, Dom’s eyes fill.
“You know, Bills, it doesn’t matter where I am,” Dom says softly. “When we’re together, I’m home. You are my home.”
Cuddling Dom to his chest, Billy sighs, utterly content. “I know exactly what you mean, love.”
* * *
The sky is still dark and full of twinkling stars when Billy rolls over in bed, arm sliding across the mattress, reaching for Dom. When his fingers are met with cool sheets instead of warm, bare skin, he opens his sleepy eyes. To Billy’s surprise, Dom is huddled at the end of the bed, arms wrapped around his knees, watching him through a layer of suspiciously damp eyelashes.
“Dommie?” he says softly, pushing himself up into a sitting position. “What are you doing, love?”
Crawling out from beneath the coverlet and over to where Dom is sitting, Billy is surprised further when he realizes that Dom is trembling, his breath uneven.
“Bad dream?” he asks gently, fingers rubbing the nape of Dom’s neck.
Whimpering, Dom opens his mouth to speak, but instead a harsh sob bubbles up in his throat. Pressing his lips together tightly to muffle it, Dom shamelessly throws himself into Billy’s arms, burying his face in his lover’s neck.
“Hey,” Billy soothes, kissing the side of Dom’s head. “It’s okay, baby. It wasn’t real, yeah? It’s okay. Let it out.”
In the several minutes it takes for Dom’s body-wracking sobs to quiet and finally stop, Billy presses countless feathery kisses to Dom’s tousled hair and rubs his bare back in endless, slow, soothing circles. When Dom finally pulls back to let their eyes meet again, Billy silently wipes away his tears and kisses both cheeks.
“Want to talk about it?” he asks softly.
“You didn’t want me anymore,” Dom whispers, eyes profoundly sad. “I was laying here in the bed, waiting for you, and you told me to get out. That you’d found someone else.”
“Oh, baby.” Cuddling Dom to his chest, Billy brushes a tender kiss over his lips. “I could never do that. I love you, Dommie.”
“I have to tell you something,” Dom says quietly, eyes glistening brightly. “And I’m pretty sure you’re not going to like it.”
Surprised, Billy arches an eyebrow. “I’m listening,” he says gently.
“I lied to you,” Dom reveals, brushing at his eyes with the back of his hand as lays his head on Billy’s shoulder, breath warm on his chest.
“About what?” Billy asks, the concern obvious in his tone, astonished that Dom would do such a thing. The last four months have brought them closer than ever before, despite the physical distance of late. Threading his fingers through Dom’s hair, Billy rubs the tense muscles at the nape of his neck.
“Almost every night you asked me how I was doing and I told you I was okay,” Dom explains hesitantly. “But it was a lie. I’ve been miserable, Bills. A right fucking mess.”
“Dommie-”
“I’m sorry,” Dom whispers. A new wave of emotion rushes over him, and fresh tears begin to fall as Dom buries his face in Billy’s neck yet again. Wordlessly he requests forgiveness for not being strong enough and seeks refuge from the pain in Billy’s warm, comforting embrace. Body shaking with silent sobs, he whimpers the apology over and over as Billy cuddles him closer, pressing kisses to his forehead.
“Oh, Dommie.” Tightening an arm around his lover, Billy gently tips back Dom’s head with his free hand and kisses his nose. “Why didn’t yeh tell me?” Billy asks tenderly. “Why, baby?”
“I thought I could deal with it,” Dom explains between shuddering breaths. “I mean, you seemed to be doing okay. It wasn’t too bad until my trip got canceled, but then I just couldn’t handle it. I didn’t want you to think that I was some weak and pathetic-”
Dom’s words are cut off by Billy’s mouth covering his and tongue pushing between his lips, tongues tangling and tasting briefly.
“You should’ve told me,” Billy murmurs against his lips when they part.
“I know,” Dom replies. “I wanted to, so many times, but I just couldn’t.”
“C’mere, love. It’s cold out here,” Billy says. “Let’s get back into bed.”
Allowing Billy to settle him between the sheets and wrap him up in the warm coverlet, Dom curls into Billy’s side, cheek resting over Billy’s heart.
“Tell me now,” Billy instructs firmly, yet gently. “All of it. I want to know what you’ve been going through without me, love. What you’ve been telling yourself.”
“It was tough, right from the beginning, and it just kept getting harder and harder to keep going.” Sighing heavily, Dom cuddles closer and nuzzles his head against Billy’s neck, grateful for the tender, understanding touch of his lover. “I was really counting on that trip, and then when it got canceled, I started to think that maybe fate was trying to tell me something. Maybe we shouldn’t-”
“Shhh,” Billy interrupts. “Don’t say it, love.”
“God Bills, I feel so awful for even thinking it. I tried, but I couldn’t stop myself. By the end, if I didn’t have to go to work every day, I don’t think I would have gotten out of bed,” Dom admits, fresh tears streaming down his cheeks, shame rushing through his body and making him shudder. “It was the water and your phone calls that kept me going. All this last month, when I wasn’t on set, all I could do was sit there, on the lanai, watch the tide and listen to the ocean. It was the only place where it didn’t feel like my heart was breaking.”
“Oh, Dommie.” Billy nuzzles his cheek against the soft hair covering Dom’s forehead and kisses his nose. “I should’ve known, that day, when your trip got canceled. I had this horrible feeling-”
“It was all my fault,” Dom whispers. “At the airport you told me to ask you to stay and I didn’t. I let you go.”
“Dommie, no,” Billy protests, pulling back slightly and taking Dom’s face in his hands, their eyes locking. “Don’t say that. I never should’ve put that responsibility on you. It wasn’t fair. I’m so sorry for that.”
“That’s why Evey arranged all this,” Dom says softly, brushing at his damp cheeks and sniffing. “I think she was afraid that I was going to fall apart so badly that even you wouldn’t be able to put me back together.”
“I’m glad she did,” Billy murmurs. “Would’ve been right pissed at you if you’d called and tried to break up with me over the phone.”
“Yeah, Evey said you wouldn’t give me up without a fight.”
“She’s right.” Tipping back Dom’s chin so their eyes meet again, Billy watches him intently. “What did I tell you, when I caught you wanking in the trailer that day?”
Unsure of what Billy is talking about, Dom shrugs.
“You don’t need to keep things from me,” Billy says softly, shaking his head. “You are an utter and complete daftie, Dominic Monaghan, but you’re my daftie and don’t you ever forget it, yeah?”
“I just wish I was stronger,” Dom whispers. “I wish that I didn’t need-”
“Needing someone is not a sign of weakness, Dommie,” Billy says, brushing back several strands of Dom’s hair. “Remember, when I came to Hawaii in December? Did you think less of me, because I needed you?”
“Of course not,” Dom replies, shaking his head. “Never.”
“Then why would I think less of you, my love?” Billy asks tenderly, smiling gently.
“Well when you put it that way-”
“Daftie,” Billy says affectionately, bringing their mouths together for a fierce kiss.
“Forgive me for lying to you?” Dom requests when they part. “For doubting-”
“Of course, love,” Billy replies softly, brushing his lips over Dom’s in a feathery caress. “But-”
“I promise,” Dom interrupts. “The truth, no matter what.”
Cuddling Dom to his chest and rubbing the warm skin at the small of his back, Billy sighs. “We’ll make you all better again, my love. I’ll take care of you.”
“But I’m okay, Bills,” Dom tells him, looking up into Billy’s eyes, his smile growing a little when he realizes that for the first time in months, he really means it. “As soon as Evey told me and I got on the plane in Oahu, I started to feel better. By the time I got here, I couldn’t stop smiling, knowing that you were so close.”
“Are you sure?” Billy asks, giving Dom a long, serious look.
“Billy, don’t you see?” Dom asks with a genuine smile, happy tears gathering in the corners of his eyes. “All I needed was you, baby. It’s all I’ve ever needed.”
“Dommie.” Billy moans softly and draws his fingers through Dom’s tousled hair before bringing their mouths together in a wildly passionate kiss. “My beautiful Dommie.”

* * *
* * *

This made me smile: “But feel free to touch me all you like to make sure. I insist.” And that: “Love the kitchen, by the way. Brilliant color.” “I’m quite fond of it”
This made my heart ache: Wordlessly he requests forgiveness for not being strong enough Oh Dommie.. It doesn't work that way, and you know that. he can make out the word ‘Apart’ written in black sharpie, with a line through the middle of it Child inside, it could sound like that. But to me it's one of the little characteristics Billy loves about Dom.
And this made me feel happy again: “Just a wee bit drunk” “On love” And The Once Sentence again: “This is your home, even if you don’t live here all the time.” I just love it and will refer to it if need be :)
Thank you, honey, once again ♥

Child inside . . . one of the little characteristics Billy loves about Dom.
I've always seen Dom as a little more delicate that way, needing someone who understands him. Youthful exuberance and fire, sunlight and energy, but with an innoncent sweetness and an unapologetic passion for what he loves. *sigh* Why wouldn't Billy love that?
The Once Sentence
Oh that makes me happy. And thank you. *loves*

I read this several times because never before a characterisation came so near to what I never was able to put in words. I especially love the fire & sunlight part - may I quote?

And I forgot the "location information" for this one: that is what came out first when I googled "fire & sunlight" (didn't expect a decent outcome with so narrowed presettings), and it's a shot from the Valley of Fire - how appropriate ;)
