He was being hunted. Sharp blue eyes were following his every move, they were holding him - Billy could feel their grasp like fingers curled around his body.
They hadn't spoken since they'd arrived at Viggo's an hour or so ago, Dom had nodded his ‘hello’ then sloped off to engage in some friendly banter with Elijah. Billy was stood by the barbecue with Viggo cradling a beer in one hand, letting the glow of the mid afternoon sun and flow of conversation between good friends warm through his skin to muscles that were tense and weary from long relentless days.
Or at least he had been. Then Dom had arrived.
The bastard had seen too many wildlife documentaries. He'd circled the garden watching Billy from every angle, sizing up his defences and searching for the perfect moment to pounce. Billy had thought that perhaps he'd been imagining things at first, but when he looked over to catch Dom's eye he was met with a predatory grin a wolf would have been proud of.
Shoulders up, eyes narrowed, Dom stalked Billy with one eyebrow raised in a challenge.
A small smile quirked at Billy's lips and he tossed his head back to expose his neck, defiantly willing. Dom bit his lip and the air crackled as the hold surrounding Billy tightened, stealing his breath. Dom's breathing had quickened too, Billy could see his chest rising and falling rapidly, his gaze was focused so intensely that Billy could feel it burn.
"We need more wine, Billy," Viggo's voice jolted Billy back to his senses, "can you watch the food while I bring it out?"
"Of course."
Billy took the tongs Viggo handed him and prodded at the steaks sizzling on the barbecue.
"Hungry, Bill?"
Dom's voice vibrated suddenly next to Billy's ear making him jump and sending tremors down his spine.
"I watched a documentary about big cats last night." Dom leant forward so only Billy could hear him. "It showed them catching their food, how they followed a herd until they spotted what they wanted and then stalked their prey until just the right moment to attack."
Billy turned and found himself staring into blue as vast and aware as an ocean or the air above them.
"In what distant deeps or skies, burnt the fire of thine eyes?"
Dom just grinned in response, his smile positively feral.
All of Billy's senses were heightened. He could feel Dom's breathe brushing over his skin and the heat from his body reached out to him. Feigning nonchalance Billy flipped over a steak that hissed and spat engulfing them both in the scent of roasting meat making his mouth water and his stomach rumble.
"Hungry?" Dom asked again, amusement and seduction intertwining. He moved closer to Billy, close enough for his hair to tickle Bill's ear but so that they still weren't touching, not quite.
"The cats - they know just the right time to attack, like they can feel the beat of nature through the earth underneath them whispering what the next movement will be. They run, and pounce and when they catch the one they want they hold on." Dom's voice, velvet soft and deep became softer still and Billy found himself straining to hear. All of his attention was focused on the man behind him; their friends, the barbecue, even the tree and grass and sun could have faded away and Billy wouldn't have noticed. The words winding from Dom's lips were intoxicating.
"Their teeth sink into the neck of their prey and they hold on, the prey writhes and bucks underneath the predator at first, but it doesn't take long for them to realise that submission is inevitable and they go limp and compliant, and the predator has what it wants."
"That's fascinating, Dom." Billy congratulated himself on the steadiness of his voice. Anyone who heard it would never be able to guess how hard his heart was pounding.
"I thought so," Dom reached round Billy to turn the peppers that were browning nicely, "it might be on again tonight; maybe you'd like to come to my flat to see?"
Billy sighed, pretending to consider Dom's offer.
"Because," Dom continued, "I'd like to show you, I'd like to teach you all about hunting, and taking."
Billy turned to face Dom straight on, for a moment he wanted to turn Dom's game back on him, catch him by surprise, push him against the tree behind them and kiss him hard right in front off all their friends. Bite on his lip, grind against him until Dom moaned and begged.
It was tempting, but he decided he wanted see this through to the end, Dom pliant and needy between him and a nearby tree or wall, Billy wasn't fussy, he could wait for another day. So he met Dom's eye and said "Okay, I'm always keen to learn something new."
Dom grinned again, this smile more jubilant that voracious, but there were still teeth and claws in his look.
"Okay," he answered, "So, later then."
"Later."
Viggo reappeared with two bottles of red, and Dom moved away from Billy softly.
They didn't speak again, not until it was time to leave, but Billy could feel Dom's eyes on him the whole time. Following him, aware and waiting. Hunting.

I love this part:
"Their teeth sink into the neck of their prey and they hold on, the prey writhes and bucks underneath the predator at first, but it doesn't take long for them to realise that submission is inevitable and they go limp and compliant, and the predator has what it wants."
MMMM A touch of BDSM, thanks.
