Title : The Fine Art Of Jealousy
Pairing : Dom/Billy from Elijah's pov
Rating : PG
Summary : Being on the outside is a horrible thing.
Disclaimer : Not true.
Feedback : My first time posting here so I'd love to hear what you think.
Dom and Billy are forever going out together, late and night and drinking. They come home late, stumbling and laughing clinging onto each other with familiar hands. They have this fluidity that Elijah envies, watches with blue eyes that have turned green and wants.
At first he tries getting that with Sean, but Sean has Christine, and he likes to get back early enough to help put Ali to bed. Then Elijah tries Orlando, but Orlando is like water, he slips through your fingers when you’re not looking and when you turn around he is bumping his hips against some girl whose eye are big and bright. He also tries Viggo, but Viggo keeps philosophising when Elijah just really wants to get drunk and messy.
One day Elijah writes down all the things that they make him feel. He writes ‘bitter’ against Dom’s name, and ‘useless’ against Billy’s. But it doesn’t help him, and part of him feels bad for thinking those things so he screws up the paper and drops it in the nearest bin. Besides, separately they don’t make him feel that way. They make him feel like a brother in arms when they’re all together in a crowd on like the most important person in the world when they’re alone.
And they’re his mates ( mates, which still rolls nervously off his tongue, but they say it to each other and make it sound like it means more than just ‘friends’ or ‘buddies’). He loves them.
He just can’t help the fact that it makes his stomach burn with acid to think that they love each other.
Though he tries hard, Elijah doesn’t think he’ll ever get that - what they have with each other – with anyone in his life. Then he gets mad because it comes naturally to other people and even though he tries he still doesn’t get it. He’s the one who wants it most but it alludes him.
So one night when Billy is back in Scotland and Dom asks Elijah to go drinking, Elijah thinks that it might just be the night.
But instead of flat British beer that tastes like piss and finishing each others sentences, Elijah gets the feeling he’s watching the night from a distance.
It’s not special. He doesn’t feel special. Dom doesn’t sling his arm across Elijah’s shoulders on the walk home and he never slaps his ass camply when he follows him up a flight of stairs. He doesn’t make stupid jokes about wanting to marry Elijah or tumble into bed with him at the end of the night, instead he takes the sofa and a spare pillow and shouts “Night Doodle,” before slamming the door.
Elijah feels mad and stupid and more than just a little disappointed because now he feels more alone than ever.
He doesn’t have a Billy in his life, and he probably never will.
He falls asleep to the soft lull of Dom’s voice just outside his door, flooding out across the Atlantic.

Call me evil but I always get a sick sense of satisfaction when Elijah suffers. Serves him right, he should know Billy and Dom belong together. Oh dear! I am evil!
Good job!

Elijah's eyes are so blue, I thought it would fit well with the jealousy idea. Glad you liked it :o)
