A/N: After all the angst I’ve written this week, I felt like something lighter, quieter and softer.
It’s a beautiful day, and Dom can’t believe his luck. Usually the only time he gets a day off is when the weather is bad. It’s the first time in months that Mother Nature has smiled on his day of freedom.
He should go surfing because he rarely has time for it anymore, but he doesn’t. Instead, dressed in a sleeveless t-shirt and board shorts, he pads barefoot across the lanai and sits on the steps to watch the waves roll in. After a while he picks up his journal, and starts to write. It feels good to just be still and think.
The last eight months have been like a roller coaster. Getting the show. Moving to Hawaii. Then the real work began. Flying all over the country, putting in public appearances, posing for thousands of photos, dealing with swarms of screaming fans. Dom loves the attention, really he does, but at the same time, he longs for the quiet of New Zealand. When it was just him and Billy.
That’s what today is like. A typical Sunday in New Zealand. Dom remembers all too well how those days were spent. How they would’ve slept late after a long night at the pub, waking in each others arms. Dom would’ve woken up first and nuzzled Billy until he cracked open one eye and growled. Playfully, of course.
Then Dom would’ve found himself wearing a naked Scotsman for a blanket. Lingering kisses would trail down his chest, perfect bow-shaped lips parting to take him full into his mouth. Long slow sucks and slight scraping of teeth that would leave him breathless and begging. A slight ache and flash of burning when Billy would slide inside. Gentle rocking that would give way to powerful thrusting when neither of them could take it anymore.
Yeah, Dom misses those days.
Pushing his sunglasses up the bridge of his nose, Dom resumes writing in his journal. The sun is warm on his shoulders, reminding him being wrapped up in Billy. Then music is invading the quiet, but it makes Dom smile. Only one person can cause that particular sound. Digging into the pocket of his shorts, he digs out his cell phone and answers it.
“Hey Bills,” he says warmly. “I was just thinking about you.”
“Great minds and all that,” Billy replies with a laugh. “Enjoying your day off?”
“It’s okay.” Dom shrugs and leans against the railing. “Weather’s nice.” Absently he picks at a loose thread at the hem of his t-shirt and nibbles on his lower lip. “How’s Scotland?”
“Dismal and wet.”
“You should come out here. Haven’t you heard? It’s paradise.”
“What’s the matter, Dommie?” There’s more than a touch of worry in Billy’s voice. “You don’t sound like yourself.”
“It’s nothing,” Dom replies honestly.
“You sure? You sound distracted.”
“Well, I guess I am a little. Was thinking about Sundays in New Zealand.”
Immediately, Billy understands. “Ah. Good memories, those.”
“That they are,” Dom replies with a soft, secretive smile.
“You know, if you were out of breath I might suspect that you were wanking or something.”
Dom bursts out laughing. “Billy!”
“What?” he asks, almost indignantly. “It’s not like I haven’t caught you before,” he points out.
“It was your bloody fault,” Dom retorts, blush creeping across his cheeks. “Leaving all those message on my machine. Would’ve made a dead man hard.”
Billy snickers unrepentantly. “You loved it.”
“Yeah, I did,” Dom admits with a grin.
“So were you wanking?” Billy asks suggestively.
“No. And didn’t we agree that you weren’t allowed to bring up sex unless we’re in the same room?”
“Oh, right.”
“Right.”
“So, you gonna to turn around?”
Eyes flashing wide, Dom’s head spins around, causing his sunglasses to go flying. Lifting a hand, Billy waves from where he’s standing in the middle of Dom’s casually messy living room. A moment later he’s on his knees, straddling Dom’s lap.
“Hi.”
“Fuck me,” Dom breathes, eyes wide, hands stealing around Billy’s waist and slipping under his shirt to caress warm, bare skin.
Billy grins. “Oh, I intend to.”
“Billy-”
And then they’re kissing, deep, lingering, passionate exchanges, reclining onto the floor of the lanai and hungrily pushing aside clothing. It’s been far too long and they seem determined to make up for it in the first thirty seconds.
Dom yanks impatiently at Billy’s shirt, tearing the buttons off so he can touch the ginger hair and pale skin beneath. Billy. His Billy. Back in his arms, right where he belongs. Squeezing his hands down the back of Billy’s trousers, Dom slides his fingers under his boxers to cup Billy’s bare arse.
“That was a new shirt,” Billy informs him, breaking the kiss.
“I’ll buy you a new one,” Dom promises fervently, causing Billy to giggle. Jerking his hips, their erections grind together and Billy’s light laughter turns into a ragged moan.
“Missed you so much, Dommie,” Billy murmurs, licking and sucking at the smooth column of Dom’s neck. “So much.”
“I’m glad you’re here,” Dom pants before hauling Billy up so their lips can meet again. Tongues tangle messily while Billy shoves Dom’s shirt up and slides a hand down the front of his shorts to cup his throbbing erection.
“Fuck, Billy-”
“Dominic Monaghan,” a voice calls out from around the corner of the house. “If you’re spending this gorgeous day moping over that boyfriend of yours again I’m going to kick your British a-”
Matt freezes in mid step when he spots the lovers wrapped up in each others arms, hands in very intimate places.
“Oh shit.” Averting his eyes, Matt fights back a blush. “Sorry guys.”
Reluctantly pulling away, Billy slips off of Dom’s lap to sit beside him while Dom readjusts his clothes.
“Hi Matt. Nice of you to drop by,” Dom says brightly, barely containing his laughter. “Bloody gorgeous day, isn’t it?”
“Dude. I am so sorry,” Matt offers sincerely once again looking at the pair. “Hi Bill.”
“Hi.”
“Well, I’m going to go now. Uh, have fun.”
With an awkward wave, Matt disappears from sight.
“We will, trust me,” Billy calls after him.
Looking at one another, they burst out laughing. They laugh until tears are streaming down their cheeks and they can barely manage to remain sitting up. When they finally regain control, Dom leans over and kisses Billy’s cheek wetly.
“Maybe we should take this inside,” Dom says, seductively nibbling on Billy’s earlobe.
“Agreed,” Billy murmurs, hands sliding under Dom’s shirt once again. “Before we give someone else a free show.”
It’s a beautiful day, and Dom can’t believe his luck.
He doesn’t go surfing, but he does end up with a naked Scotsman in his bed. He is treated to lingering kisses trailing down his chest and perfect bow-shaped lips sucking him off until he wonders if he has died and gone to heaven. Then Billy is inside him, and a thought strikes Dom so abruptly that it steals his breath.
It may not be New Zealand, but it’s close enough.

Oh, I am seriously crying now! Why? Because I'm a sappy romantic and this was very good. I love all of your work, Dylan. Whenever you point me in the direction of a new story, they all seem to end up in my 'Best Stories Ever' memories. I loved this so much. It's not fair, because now I am in love with your words. I want to have your story's babies. Do you think that's possible? X)
I think I'll go to bed now, on this wonderful and dreamy note.
*hugs and kisses goodnight*

You just know when you're in a situation like that - someone is going to interrupt at the most inappropriate moment. All you can do is laugh. Or die of embarrassment.

And no, you're not being too mushy. I really look forward to reading your comments.

I know exactly what you mean!!!! Of course, my friends just tell me straight out if what I wrote sucks or is actually cool, but most of the time they don't like it since they aren't into B&D RPS! *laughs*
But yeah! Getting encouragement from people who just base who you are on your writing has it's pros and cons. :)
I really look forward to reading your comments.
*tears up* Now that's the nicest thing I've heard all week. *^^*
*feels extra special*
Most of the time my friends just tell me to shut up because I have nothing "intelligent" to say. Pfft. :/
Nice, right? Heh, yeah....

Yeah, I think I need to question that.... :/ Because they like to take the piss most of the time, so I can't really be sure when it's sarcasm or not.
AND YAY FOR SPECIAL!!!! *flips* Thank you. :D I feel the need to drag you into my little circle as well...

*giggle* I love how modest you are in your comments. Trust me, babe, you are an excellent writer. (if I make that excellent in all caps and really big, would that be too much) Heeeeee!

My style has changed, but there aren't too many things that I would do differently in this little fic. Oddly enough, I still wonder if I'm any good as a writer. In nearly a year and a half of posting - that's never changed. I'm a big softie.
Hey, have you ever read my 'Finding Peace' series?
From:
no subject
Is that another rec???? YAY! I will put that on my next to read list... unless it's angsty, break up, no hope for the future, make you forget to breathe, sad, make me wanna mope all day fic. But what the hell, even if it is I still wanna read it. Besides, you almost always end happy, so that's not really fair of me... Wait, I've done that before, haven't I? *is a loser* Will read soon!
From:

Finding Peace is 4 parts, so it's a quick read, but yes, it's angsty.
I look forward to your thoughts after you finish it.
