Title: Divergence
Author: [livejournal.com profile] stationer
Pairing: Dom/Billy
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Dom is lonely
Disclaimer: I made this all up!
Notes: Just a very short ficlet that I wrote in about fifteen minutes. I seem to be stuck in some sort of weird answering machine phase.

Dom’s hands are like ice in his warm Los Angeles bedroom. He places one on each of his cheeks and closes his eyes at the contrast. He hasn’t been out of his bed for almost two days but his muscles ache like he’s been running a marathon all night.

The phone rings beside his bed and Dom blinks in the dark. The blind is shut so tight that he doesn’t know if it’s the afternoon or the middle of the night.

“Hello,” the answering machine says in Billy’s low voice. Dom’s chest tightens and his throat closes up. Billy’s calm, even breathing is taking up space on the nightstand and the silence that has been wedging itself into every corner of Dom’s empty room over the past week becomes suddenly terrifying.

“I’ll come,” Billy says. “I’m getting on a plane.”

Dom curls up in the fetal position on top of his dirty sheets and lets the sobs break painfully out of his tired, aching body.
