Feedback: This is not only my first Monaboyd, but the first fic I've ever written - outside those emails to my boss about why my internet bill is so high. Please be gentle, but constructive.

Billy is gone, and Dom is cold. There's no explanation, but Dom believes Billy has returned to Scotland. Their bright, joyous house is empty of everything warm and familiar. He'd known Billy'd been a bit distant lately, but when he'd asked, Billy'd said "It's nothing. M'just tired." and "I love you.".

Dom goes to the autograph signing, but he keeps losing his train of thought, and shivers. He comes home to find the house cold, Billy's keys on the kitchen bench, and Billy's belongings all gone.

Dom panics and calls everyone he knows - almost. Until he gets Orlando, who seems suspiciously unsurprised. Orli is in Florida, and says he has to go - that he's sorry about Billy, and that maybe Dom should just try to let go and deal.

Dom tries. He really does. He smiles at interviews, and openings. He works on Lost. It's a success, but Dom is still cold. He does interviews and junkets and raves about how happy and lucky he is, but he is still cold. He calls Billy every day.

Billy never ever answers.

One late night he sees Billy on E. Billy is holding the hand of the cute, elfin looking scottish girl he calls Ali. Ali is his girlfriend, Billy says - he only has eyes for her. No, he hasn't seen Dom lately, but they do keep in touch, and plan to work together soon.

Dom is surprised. And shattered. He feels the cold stalactites of bitterness fall and stab deep.

The water is warm and for the first time in months, so is Dom. The cold has been persistant and burning, grinding and penetrating. It has worn Dom away and now there is only sorrow, pain and dullness. The razor glints bright, and bites hard.

Dom feels light and warm and is drawn into the peace.
