Chapter 1|Chapter 2|Chapter 3|Chapter 4|Chapter 5|Chapter 6

Four days passed before Dom heard from Billy. Well, Billy had left several messages on Dom’s machine, apologising for the situation and imploring Dom that he would make it up to him, but nothing had passed between them that could count as proper communication.

On the fourth day, Billy waited for Dom outside of the agency. The building was inconspicuous enough, and Dom thought that they could pass for a normal office block. He looked delighted as he saw Dom come out of the building, and Dom could tell that he was trying not to show just how pleased he was to see him. Billy enveloped him in a hug so tight that he thought that he probably would have a few bruised ribs. “I’ve missed you” Billy said as he released Dom and reached up to meet his lips. Dom just smiled and kissed Billy back. Dom could hear the comments of the passers-by, some of them expressing their disgust at such a public display of affection by two men.

Two hours later, Dom lay tangled in the blankets on Billy’s bed. Billy had gone to answer a phone call, muttering something about disconnecting it next time. Dom couldn’t remember the last time he had felt this happy in a relationship. He reached over to the bedside table and went for his watch, managing to knock it off the table and under the bed. He leant over and groped around on the floor a bit before deciding to get out and look properly. He got down on his knees and looked under the bed for his watch…he could see it glinting faintly a little way in. He reached in to grab it but his hands wrapped around something else instead, something long and smooth. He grabbed hold firmly and pulled it out. It had a slight curve to it, and it looked like it was an outer case for something. When Dom grabbed hold of one end and gave it a gentle tug, the object came apart. Dom found that he was holding a curved sword, which he recognized as a Samurai sword. It looked in good condition and he could see that it was still quite sharp.

“We have to go out,” came a voice above him.

Dom visibly jumped. “I’m, I’m, I’m sorry,” he stuttered out. “I was looking for my watch. It fell off the table and went under the bed. I wasn’t prying or anything. I’m so sorry.”

Billy just smiled and took it off of Dom and put it lovingly back into its case. “Oh, it’s ok. If I hadn’t wanted you to find it, you wouldn’t have. I really should have it put on display or something, it’s just too beautiful to hide away, but you can get into real trouble for having things like this.”

He reached down and put it back under the bed. As he rose up, he kissed Dom and said, “Come on. We have to get dressed. I have to sort something out…” He stopped and sighed, “Again.” He got down off the bed, walked over to the closet and picked out a suit and dressed while Dom watched. “John can drop me off at home?” he asked.

Billy fixed him with a stare and smiled, “I was hoping that you were going to come with me, seeing as its encroaching on our time again.” Dom merely nodded. “Perhaps after we can go for a drink or something to eat? There’s this great new restaurant that’s just opened and I want to see what its like.” And with that he left the bedroom and Dom heard him going down the stairs.

The 40 minute car journey was quiet and Dom could tell that Billy was thinking about something. His hand kept gripping and loosening Dom’s and he stared out of the window the whole way. He barely said two words the entire time. They arrived, this time at another house down a country lane, and Dom saw yet again there were the two heavies from the Elijah beating present, waiting for them. Billy got out of the car and motioned for Dom to follow. The two heavies came forward and whispered something to Billy, who nodded and then walked towards the car. He opened the door, and Dom could see that the occupant was the guy from the sofa with the olive skin and dark hair. This time, he was blindfolded, gagged, and squirming wildly. Billy said something in the guy’s ear and the guy froze stock still. Billy walked towards Dom and then guided him into the house, the two heavies followed, dragging the squirming and squealing guy with them. The set-up inside the house was similar to the other one, “You have a chain of these or something?” Dom whispered to Billy, who smirked and said “Something like that, yeah.”

The guy was chucked unceremoniously into a corner and began to whimper and moan loudly. Billy himself went over and swiftly kicked the guy between the legs, the anger and menace burning in his eyes. “I’ve told you to feckin’ shut it, and shut it you will. You got that, you feckin’ idiot?” He spat the last few words out and stalked over to the opposite corner where he sat down and said his voice barely above a whisper, “Dom.” A chair was brought in and set in the middle of the room, a low drone began to sound and then the sound of shovelling could be heard coming from the next room along. Dom stood next to Billy, who pulled him down so that he was sitting on his knee, and kissed the back of Dom’s ear. He muttered “I’m sorry” before placing his hand on Dom’s and interlacing their fingers.

The first heavy, who Dom had picked up was called Hugo, hauled the guy into the centre of the room and pushed him down onto the chair. He looked at Billy, who nodded, and then removed the blindfold. The guy immediately turned to face the direction of Billy and Dom, his eyes pleading with them. Billy gripped Dom’s hand tighter and quickly put his head against Dom’s back and then moved it, so that the only person who registered the action was Dom.

“Boss?” said Hugo looking over at them, “Do you want to talk to him, or shall we just get on with it?”

Billy let go of Dom’s hand and motioned for him to stand. Billy moved to stand in front of the now crying and still gagged guy, then reached forward and grabbed one end of the gag and ripped it off, causing the guy to let out a howl of pain. This guy was behaving totally different to Elijah. He wasn’t being dignified at all. In fact, Dom felt a little ashamed at witnessing it. “B-b-b-b-b-boss…Ididntmeanit…Imsorryithappened…itwonthappenagain…Ihadnoideawhohewas…Imsosorry”

“Too right it won’t happen again Orlando, too right,” Billy sneered. “Do you realise how much trouble you’ve caused me by carelessly talking to that man? No, I bet you don’t. You always were the stupid one. If I didn’t know your father I would never have taken you under my wing in the first place. You’ve been nothing but a waste of space, and now you could cost me EVERYTHING I’ve worked for. EVERYTHING” As he said the last word, he looked over at Dom, and Dom could see that behind the anger there was a little glimmer of vulnerability. “And I can’t allow that to happen, you understand? UNDERSTAND?” he bellowed. He stepped forward and did something that Dom had never seen Billy do…he slapped Orlando across the face, a stinging slap that left a hand shaped red mark across his left cheek. Seething with anger he walked straight past Dom and outside. Dom looked at Hugo questioningly, Hugo nodded, and Dom immediately followed Billy outside to witness him doing something else he had never seen…smoking…and pacing up and down in the front of house.

Dom watched him for a minute before walking over to him and laying a hand gently on Billy’s arm. “I love you,” Billy stuttered out before going back in the house, leaving Dom alone outside contemplating what he had just heard.

Dom arrived back in the room to find Billy standing in the corner where they had previously been sitting, watching the scene unfolding in front of him intently. He had the faintest of smiles across his lips. Dom stood in the door and noticed that Orlando had stopped crying, but was still whimpering pathetically. Karl, the other heavy, had re-appeared, this time with a large bucket and two small, rectangular containers. Both of Orlando’s feet had been placed in the containers and Karl was in the process of emptying the contents of the bucket into the containers. Hugo was holding Orlando still with one hand on his shoulder and pointing a gun at his head.

Two hours later, Dom found himself standing next to Billy on the bridge overlooking the river Trent. Karl and Hugo were holding Orlando on the edge, along with Bernard another of Billy’s heavies. “Have you anything to say Orlando, any last requests?” Billy asked, a slight amused tone to his voice, “Cause if you have, I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in hearing it.” His grip on Dom’s hand tightened and a broad smile broke across his face. “Whenever you’re ready boys” he said and walked to the railings of the bridge to gain a better viewpoint. The three heavies pushed a now sobbing, squealing, and squirming Orlando off the edge of the bridge, and Dom could see the satisfaction which spread over Billy as he saw Orlando’s body hit the water with a large and loud splash.

Billy turned to Dom and said “I do hope the restaurant is still open I’m starving.” And with that he walked back towards his car and got in.
