The Favor

(Part 2/6)

"Billy, are you there?" I yelled into the phone as I pressed the receiver harder into my ear. I heard mostly static, but caught a few words hear and there. Words spoken in that Scottish accent that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up and my heart skip just a beat or two every time I heard it.

"Dom, …sorry missed …at airport…still…ting tonight?" said Billy. "Hold…, fuc...signal, just… me…outside. Dom, Dom, you still there? Can you hear me now?"

"Yeah, I’m here. I can hear you" I said. "Tonight’s great, your place or mine?" They were both in San Diego for Comic-Con but since Billy was there for the ROTK EE DVD and I was there to help promote LOST, we had been put up at different hotels.

"Mine" Billy said, "I’m just too jet lagged to think about going anywhere tonight. Do you mind if we just order take out or room service?"

This was going to work out better than I'd had hoped. "No problem mate, pizza sound good? I’ll pick up some beer too" I said, trying not to sound too enthusiastic.

"Sounds great, but none of that American piss that Elijah calls beer, get the good stuff ‘kay Dom?" laughed Billy.

"Nothing but the best for you my dear Bills!" I said, a smile in my voice. I was getting a good feeling about this.

"Great, can’t wait to see you again. It’s been too long Dommie" Billy’s voice lowered and took on a tone of wistfulness.

"I agree" I replied softly. "I completely agree. I’ll see you tonight then Billy" and hung up. That was the first time I had hung up first. I always hang up last. I always want to catch the last words Billy has to say and to hear that slight sigh that he always makes just after saying good bye, but just before he hangs up.

This time has to be different, I thought. I have to be in control for this to work. I have to approach this as if I were going on a, a safari, yeah that's it. I can’t be all weak-kneed and girly. I’m going to pursue, hunt and conquer Billy, all without him even realizing it. When I'm finished, he will think it was all his idea. He'll think he was doing me a favor!

How I made it to Billy’s hotel without having a complete nervous breakdown I’ll never know. I was shaking all over and stuttered when I gave the address of the hotel to the cab driver. I tried to be really cool about it as I exited the elevator on Billy’s floor but it wasn‘t working. I took several deep breaths and proceeded to his door, walking down the hall as if walking to my death. It could be, I supposed, it could be the death of Dom’nBilly.

The six pack of beer slipped from my right hand as I was trying to wedge it under my left arm, still balancing the pizza with my left hand. Why didn’t I take the bag the convenience store clerk offered me? I'm so nervous and my hands tend to sweat when that happens, I should have known! I grasped the beer with my right hand as it started to fall and simultaneously kicked at the door with my right foot. Billy must have been eagerly awaiting my arrival, or just plain hungry, because he opened the door almost immediately.

I heard laughter as Billy said "Dom you wanker, you don’t have to bow down before me, a simple curtsy would do nicely!" Just then one of the beer cans fell loose and dropped to the floor at Billy’s feet. It popped opened and sprayed beer all over his jeans and shoes.

"Though I do sorta like the change in tradition, showering me with beer instead of rose petals. It is that an American thing then?" Billy snickered.

"Just take the damn pizza, will ya Bill?" I growled as I looked up at Billy. I was really getting nervous now. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all. I mean sure, it'll probably be another four or five months before I see him again but what's another few months? I’ve waited four or five years so far, haven’t I?

No, no, I am not going to chicken out. God, I mean it’s perfect. We’re in his hotel room. We have all night. Ali isn't with him on this trip so there's no one to bother us, and just look at him. He is looking so damn hot toni…the thought stuck in my head as I looked over at Billy, my mouth falling open.

"What’re staring at Dommie? You act like you haven’t seen me in my boxers before!" asked Billy with a curious look on his face as he removed his wet jeans.

"Yes, tonight is perfect," I thought.
