Chapter Ten

Billy woke up the next morning, wrapped up in Dom’s arms. He had wanted to have Dom make love to him, to be with him, but he still felt dirty, as though it had been his uncle and not the man he loved who had slept with him last night. He crept carefully out of bed and hopped into the shower.

As the water fell down his back, he thought of Dom. He loved Dom in a way he’d never loved anyone before. He was the happiest he’d ever been since Dom came into his life, even before they started dating.

He closed his eyes and leaned his head back, allowing the water to fall on his face. He thought of the night before and how wonderful it had felt to have Dom there, inside him, making love to him slowly and tenderly.

Billy’s happy memory was interrupted by a different memory. His mind traveled back to when he was nine.

Billy heard the door to his room open. He pulled the covers up over his head and curled himself up as small as possible. He knew who it was, what he wanted.

“Billy-boy, hiding yourself again, I see,” came the drunken voice of his uncle. “You can’t hide from me, Billy-boy.”

The covers were pulled roughly from the bed.

Billy looked up at his uncle.

Uncle Peter was a relatively big man, at least in Billy’s mind. Then again, he was small for his age so most adults were big. Before he had come to live with them, Billy had loved his uncle. The bright, cheery face would often greet him at family get-togethers. He would pick young Billy up in his arms and swing him around, eliciting giggles from the young boy.

Now, a dark, scary one that Billy hated seeing replaced that cheery, bright face. He clasped his eyes shut, hoping when he opened them, his uncle would be gone.

“Now, now, Billy-boy. You should look at your elders, lad. Open those eyes. Open them.” Peter caressed Billy’s cheek until the boy’s eyes, filled with tears, opened. “That’s better.” He wiped away the tears. “Much better.” He smiled as reached down and touched Billy through his pyjamas. “You’re a bad boy, aren’t you, lad?”

Billy nodded as he struggled not to cry.

“Such a bad boy. You’ve let your parents down, lad. If they were alive, they’d be rather disappointed in you.” Peter placed his hand down Billy’s pyjama bottoms, and began to stroke the boy. “Then again, it’s cause of you they’re dead, you know?”

The tears began to fall. Whenever Peter would lay all the guilt of his parents’ death on him, Billy’s wall would break.

“Such a bad boy, crying like that.” Peter slowly removed Billy’s pyjama bottoms along with his underclothes.

Billy turned his head as Peter removed his trousers and had his way with his small nephew.

Peter groaned as he fell almost on top of his nephew. “Such a bad boy,” he whispered.

The smell of liquor filled Billy’s nostrils, making him feel ill. He tried his best not to cry.

Peter rolled off Billy and stood up. “You’d better start watching yourself, Billy-boy.” He staggered out of the room.

Billy curled himself up into a ball and buried his head into his knees, shaking, his body racked with sobs.

It was like this nearly every night.

Billy sank to the bottom of the shower. He tucked his legs up to his chest and hugged himself. He fought back his tears as the water in the shower grew cold.

After a few moments, he managed to compose himself and pushed the memory back deep into the recesses of his mind. His therapist frowned on this, but he didn’t have much of choice, he had to get ready for work. He stood up and turned off the now cold water. He got out of the shower and quickly dried off. He tied a towel around his waist and walked back into the bedroom. Dom was still sleeping. Billy smiled at his boyfriend, his lover, before turning the dresser and pulling out some clothes to wear to work.

He dressed quickly. He’d spent too much time in the shower and didn’t want to miss his bus. He grabbed a piece of bread and quickly ate. It wasn’t much of a breakfast, but it would tide him over. Even with Dom breathing down his neck about eating, Billy still wasn’t much of a breakfast person.

Billy returned to the bedroom one last time. Dom was still sleeping. He had moved in his sleep and now took up most of the bed. Billy smiled before he leaned over and kissed Dom on the cheek. “I’ll be back later, Dom,” he whispered.

Billy sprinted to the bus stop and got there just as it was pulling up. He quickly got on, greeted the driver, and sat down.

“So how are things, Bill?” David asked as he pulled the bus back into traffic.

“Better, Dave.”

“New guy, eh?”

“You could say that,” Billy said, blushing slightly.

“Figured as much. Haven’t seen you lately.” David stopped the bus, looked, and then turned. “He making you happy?”

“Yeah. Yeah, he is.”

“Good to hear, Bill. You deserve that.”

Billy nodded and was silent the rest of his trip. He liked David, but he could see a few other passengers staring.

He got off at his stop and walked to the store. Sean was already there so for once he didn’t have to wait to be let in.

“Hey, Billy. Got any plans for Christmas?” Sean asked as Billy began pulling loaves of bread out of the oven.

“Not that I know of. Don’t know what Dom has planned.”

“Well, if you don’t have any plans, I’d like you to come to my place for dinner. My wife wants to meet you. Dom can come to.”

“I’ll have to ask him. He might have something with his family. Don’t know if I’ll go though.” Billy began to set up the doughnuts.

Sean leaned over the counter. “Why not? You should meet the family.”

Billy scoffed. “I have. They don’t have much regard for me. His brother seems ok, but his mother...” He shook his head and sighed. “She doesn’t like me.”

“Her loss then.” Sean looked at the clock and then at the door, watching the crowd of people grow. “Ready?”

“As I’ll ever be.”

Sean smiled, checked on his cashiers, and opened up.

Billy sighed and got ready for the long day.

Billy walked slowly into the apartment. He was in a foul mood and just wanted to be left alone. Everyone was getting antsy about the upcoming holiday and tempers were flaring. Unfortunately for Billy, much of that was directed at him. On top of everything else, Orlando had flown home for the holidays and Viggo has his son so he couldn’t work, leaving Billy and Elijah to bear the load.

“Hey, Billy, you’re home!” Dom walked over and leaned in, placing a kiss on his cheek.

“Hey,” Billy said quietly as he threw his keys on the counter and walked into the living room.

“You ok, baby?” Dom asked as he followed Billy.

Billy sighed as he plopped onto the couch. “Just a long day. That’s all. I just...just need some time to think.”

Dom sat beside Billy. “Lay down on your stomach, baby.”

Billy gave Dom a confused look, but complied.

Dom smiled as he straddled Billy’s legs. He reached up and slowly massaged Billy’s back. “You’re so tense, baby.”

Billy moaned and buried his face in a cushion as Dom started massaging all the pain of the day away. He decided that Dom gave excellent massages as, in all it was a gentle, kneading massage, but rough where Billy was particularly sore and tense.

“I wish you had an easier job, Billy. You’re all in knots.” Dom leaned over and kissed the back of Billy’s neck. “Feeling any better?”

Billy turned his head slightly. “Yes, thank you, love.”

“Can I ask you something, baby?”

Billy nodded, too relaxed to say anything.

“My mum called me yesterday.” Dom could feel Billy tense up again. “She wants me to go to our family Christmas party. You’re invited, too, if you like.”

Billy started to turn so Dom climbed off him. He sat up and looked Dom in the eye. “I don’t know.”

“Please, Billy. I want you to meet my brother, my niece, my nephews. Forget my mother for a moment.” Dom took Billy’s hand in his. “I want you there with me.”

“Sean invited us to his place. We could go there. We’d both we welcome, less formal.”

Dom moved closer to Billy. “Please, baby. I...I miss my niece and nephews. Please.”

Billy looked into Dom’s eyes. Dom gave him so much. He could at least do him something in return. “I’ll go, Dom. For you. You do so much for me, it’s the least I could do.”

“Thank you, baby.” Dom leaned over and caught Billy’s mouth with his. “You’re so wonderful.” He leaned forward, pushing Billy onto the couch. He put one hand on the side of Billy’s face while the other gathered a handful of Billy’s shirt.

Billy sighed into Dom’s mouth. He put his hands on Dom’s waist and pulled the younger man closer.

The phone rang, shattering the mood.

“Don’t get it,” Dom said as he continued to kiss Billy.

“I have to,” Billy said, kissing Dom one last time. “Could be my sister.”

Dom sighed as Billy sat up and reached over to get the phone. He leaned over and placed soft kisses on Billy’s neck.

“Hello?” Billy said as he tilted his head, allowing Dom more space to work with.

“Billy? It’s Margaret. Hello, love.”

“Hey, sweets. Are you ok?” Billy placed his free hand on Dom’s head and threaded his fingers in Dom’s hair.

“I’m fine. Thank you for the money. I’m sorry to burden you like this. I know how little you make.”

“You’re my sister, Mags. I don’t mind.” He let out a slight moan as Dom lightly sucked the skin at the base of his neck.

“Are you ok, love?”

“Yes, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. Look, I have to go to Dom’s house for Christmas so I won’t be home.”

“Give her my cell number,” Dom whispered in his ear before tracing small kisses from the tip of his ear down to the bottom.

“I can give you Dom’s cell number, in case you need to get a hold of me.” Billy hated being in places where his sister couldn’t contact him. She was the one person he had left in Scotland and he worried greatly about her.

“Oh, Billy, I’ll be fine. Just...call me in the morning. Don’t worry. I’ll let you go, love.”

“Bye, sweets.”

“Good-bye, Billy. Take care.”

Billy hung up the phone and leaned back against the couch. “I miss her so much.”

Dom put his arm around Billy and kissed the side of his head. “Of course you do. Maybe we can take a trip to Scotland. I have some friends I’d like to see again in England.”

“Really? You mean that?” Billy beamed. “I’d love that. I really miss Glasgow. Sometimes I wish I’d never left.”

Dom nodded but didn’t comment. He lightly caressed Billy’s neck.

“But than I realize, I never would’ve met you.” He turned to face Dom. “I don’t know where I’d be then. You’ve made coming here worth it.”

Dom smiled. He leaned over and kissed Billy softly. “Now, where were we?”
