Billy stared at scene in front of him, mouth open in disbelief. Jerry and Dom were kissing. Both had a girlfriend. Their girlfriends were best friends. So what was going on here that he didn’t know about?
Anger began to well up inside of him. So he had stuck by Dom all these years only to be traded in for someone new? Someone Dom hadn’t even known that long? What the fuck was that all about? Just because he’d made a couple of mistakes on the way...
His anger fell away and was replaced by guilt. He deserved this, he knew he did. He had been a grand bastard to Dom, putting him second in his life when he needed to be first. He had hurt him with his ‘mistakes’ and was now, finally, paying the price for them.
But Dom didn’t have to rub it in his face, did he? That was cruel and unusual punishment, especially from Dom. Usually, he just gave the silent treatment or some other more common retribution, but never something like this. Never something that actually could hurt the offender in a bad way... and yet this was pulling at his heartstrings, stretching them father than they’d ever been stretched before, and he was in pain beyond the comprehension of any other. Only those who’ve truly had their heart broken could understand what he felt.
Now it was jealousy’s turn to rear up inside of him. Dom was his! He didn’t care what had happened, he had claimed Dom two fucking years ago and he wasn’t going to let him go until he was ready!
But what could he do, exactly? If he marched over to them and said that, he’d have a chance at losing Dom forever. He didn’t want that; he wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Jerry and Dom broke apart, both smiling that damned ‘Mona Lisa’ smile. Billy watched as they laughed, joking about something he didn’t understand. Soon they were pretending to be in a fight, and Dom kept his reputation for being silly by trying to fight matrix style. Even though he was in a vile mood, Billy couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Jerry responded by throwing the lid off his pop bottle at Dom and yelling, "Pikachu, I choose you!"
They would make an interesting couple. Both were...well, weird and unusual, but would they last long if they truly were together like that? Probably not. No, most definitely not, Billy thought as he saw Cassie throw a look at Jerry. Jerry had too much to lose by being gay.
Jerry also saw the look, and responded by winking and licking his lips at her. Cassie simply rolled her eyes and went back to the show. Jerry grinned playfully at Billy, who just had to grin back. Jerry was the epitome of silliness, and one couldn’t help but love him. Not in that way, though, mind you. Which explained why he had so many...interesting friends.
"I don’t understand why things have to be this way
I walk over and you look the other way
I try to make myself visible and invisible when you’re near
You’re the light in the my darkness, and yet my biggest fear"
There she goes again,
Billy thought. Portraying my thoughts exactly. She has a talent for doing that, doesn’t she? This song he’d only heard once before, but he knew the general jist of it. Having talked to her about it, he had found out she had written it in study hall her freshman year about a guy she liked but never stood a chance with.
"I look at him, and he’s lookin’ at me hopefully
I know that in his arms is where he thinks I should be
To tell the truth, I really wouldn’t mind that
If not for the one thing that keeps holdin’ me back"
Now as Billy watched Dominic flirt with Jerry, he felt the same emotions she must have felt. The only difference was that he had stood a chance at one time, but then he had messed it all up for someone else.
But he couldn’t leave Allie! He loved her! Instead of the guy in Aimee’s song, it was her. She was looking at him hopefully, and in her arms is where he should be right now, since they were engaged. And he wouldn’t mind it, not really, if not for his love for Dom.
"I know it’s hopeless, and that’s why I wanna give it up
I really don’t understand why I’m so confused
I should be over this, but it’s in this gear I’m stuck
'cause all I want it you!"
Billy felt tears tinge the edge of his eyes, and tried his best to keep them from falling. Not only did she pick songs that fit the situation, but she also managed to make him feel guilty with some of them. Go figure.
A lone tear escaped his barricade, and it was wiped away by a gentle hand. He turned to see Allie standing there, looking very concerned. "Are you okay?" she asked, and he fell into her arms, crying gently. He couldn’t handle such a decision as he was being forced to make by his heart.

Dominic looked over to see Billy in Allie’s arm. I guess he really doesn’t miss me, he thought mournfully. Everything had went according to plan, but it wasn’t working. Right about now was when Billy should be running into his arms, not hers, begging for forgiveness, which Dom would grant easily enough, kissing away the tears.
How do you do it, girl? How do you keep me from him? How do prevent him from running to me?
Dom thought desperately as he saw Allie kiss Billy on the cheek. I have also kissed him, and I’ve done so much more than I bet you have had the chance to, yet. So why do you get him, and not me? Why?He jumped in surprise as Jerry poked him. He turned to him, about to deliver some sharp comment, when he saw that his face was full of surprise. He pointed upstage, mouth slightly open. Dominic turned in time to see Aimee pull out of a discussion with Cassie and put her headset back on.
What is this about?
he wondered as she started to speak, not sing, but speak to the crowd."I am sorry for the random conversation, but I just got an urge to sing a certain song by Hilary Duff. If you’ll forgive me, I have to get it out of my system, and it was okayed by mah back-up singah. So please, bear with me on this." She turned and walked back, putting on her guitar, before beginning the song.
"What was that all about?" Jerry whispered, looking as shocked as Dom felt.
He shrugged. "I don’t know. Maybe she saw the plan wasn’t working and decided to throw in some spontaneous help."
Jerry nodded. "Sounds like somethin’ she’d do."
It was at this time Cassie jumped off of the stage and ran towards Jerry, tackling him to the ground. Dom stared at the two, now making out, and Aimee, up on stage, laughed. She, however, regained herself quick enough to being the song on cue.
"You’re always trying to figure out
What I am all about
It you don’t know what the answer is
Then just shut up and kiss
It shouldn’t take forever to put it all together...
If you can’t do the math
then get out of the equation.
I am calling you back
This is star 69
Is it a minus or a plus?
Does enough equal enough?
If you can’t do the math,
then nothing adds up,
tell me why I’m here!"
Dom shook his head, a smile playing across his lips. She was trying to play with Billy’s heartstrings, tying to pull them just enough so that he’d realise that the only reason Dom was here instead of home recuperating was that he was trying to get Billy back. Too bad Billy was choosing to be slow today, otherwise he could be feeling better than ever by now.
Billy was now disentangling himself from Allie’s arms and staring at Dom with a slightly amused look on his face. Apparently he had noticed the purpose of the song, also. Dom just stared back, daring him to come near while he was still engaged to Allie.
"Sure I want someone to understand
But I don’t the stress
I’m not about bein’ analyzed
Like it’s some kind of test
Don’t have to be a genius
to figure what’s between us
If you can’t do the math
then get out of the equation.
I am calling you back
This is star 69
Is it a minus or a plus?
Does enough equal enough?
If you can’t do the math,
then nothing adds up,
tell me why I’m here!"
Dom noted that Billy was turning red now, and that Allie was looking confused at this ‘staring contest’ between the two. Serves her right for stealing my Billy, Dom thought angrily, hoping Billy would actually ditch some of his gentlemanliness and just break up with her.
"‘Cause you can spend your whole life
analyzing, justifying
quantifying and dividing
till there's nothing anymore
Why don’t you just close your eyes
And kiss my lips and let it go
Just let it flow, it’s what I’m waiting for
Don’t have to be a genius
to figure what’s between us!
If you can’t do the math
then get out of the equation.
I am calling you back
This is star 69
Is it a minus or a plus?
Does enough equal enough?
If you can’t do the math,
then nothing adds up,
tell me why I’m here!"
Dom watched as Billy broke the gaze and turned to Allie, pulling her back to their chairs. Dom wasn’t sure what to feel, unable to accept that he just lost. It appeared that Billy chose Allie, and was now choosing to ignore Dom. Tears infested his eyes and he watched Billy take her hand and kiss her cheek.
His prize that he had worked so hard to win two years ago had just been stolen from him.
