Eventually, they will have to get up. Dom knows this; they both know this.

By pure chance, Dom decides to first. He walks to The Boring Room and stops at the door. Is Billy awake? Is he still asleep?

In reality, Billy is in the transition phase, the plane between waking and sleeping, aware and yet not aware.

Dom stands, his bare feet pressed against the cool tiles, wondering. What difference will it make if he tells Billy or not? Maybe he should just go back to sleep and deal with the awkwardness later.

He is torn.

Billy shifts in bed, refusing to face the world -- instead, he attempts to dive back into the restful place where Dom didn't leave him. For a second, he succeeds.

Dom makes a decision. He walks in to the far side of the bed where Billy is -- Billy's face is turned toward the door, away from Dom -- and kneels down to him.
Dom decides that Billy is asleep. He decides just to try the words out. Just once. Maybe that will make him feel better, and fall out of love with Billy once and for all.

He sighs first, and tells himself not to back out, not now.

So he doesn't.

"Love you, Bills. God, I'm in love with you."

Yes, he feels much better now. He straightens up and starts toward the hallway, pausing again at the door. That's when he hears it.

"It's about time," Billy is saying into his pillow. "Love you."

This makes Dom smile.

It is his first real smile in a very, very long time.
