Chapter Seventeen

A hung-over Dom woke up the morning after the Oscars. He lay tangled up in the sheets of his bed. One glance at the clock told him Billy had already left to tape either Sharon Osborne or Craig Kilborn. He couldn’t remember what Billy had told him. He groaned and buried his head in his pillow. He reached over, grabbed Billy’s, and drank in the scent of his boyfriend.

“Here. Take this.”

Dom lifted his head and saw Billy standing over him. “What?”

Billy chuckled. “You knocked the clock over last night. It’s about two hours behind. Here.” He handed Dom two Tylenol.

“Oh. Thanks.” He downed both pills in one gulp of water. “Don’t you and Little Scot have to get going?”

Billy shrugged. “I switched our flight to tomorrow. He can miss one more day of school.” He attempted to flatten Dom’s sleep tousled hair. “God, you need to do something about this, mate.”

Dom reached up and ran his own hands through Billy’s hair. “You’re one to talk.” He sighed. “Don’t go.”

“I have to. Lucas has school and...” He gently caressed Dom’s cheek. “That movie is filming in Scotland.”

Dom sat up. “You got the parts?”

Billy scoffed. “No. Auditions are next week. Although I have a feeling Luke already has the part.”

Dom laced his hands behind his head. “What’s it about, anyways?”

Billy sat beside Dom and leaned his head on the younger man’s shoulder. “Little boy in the 60's in the slums of Scotland.”

“Little Scot.”

“Aye. There are flashes to the future. Kid is older now.”

“You.”

“If I get it, yes. Anyways. Back in the 60's, the boy is being raised by his abusive father. Boy grown up watches as his father dies. Has a kid of his own. Anyways. Somehow, this is where I lost him. The older verison goes back in time, maybe just in dreams, I don’t know and helps his younger self raise himself up above everything.”

“Wow. Tough role for a newcomer. Is he sure Little Scot’s up to it?”

Billy shrugged. “I don’t know. Apparently, he’d play both boys.”

Dom whistled. “Damn. When’d you talk to him about this, anyways?”

Billy smiled and kissed Dom’s cheek. “You don’t remember anything from last night, do you? I ran into him before I brought Luke home and we talked. He really wants us both in the movie.”

Dom rolled over and climbed on top of Billy. “You’d both be great. You already make a great father and son.”

Billy put his hand behind Dom’s neck and played with the short wisps of hair at the nape. “You really think so?”

“I know so. And soon, enough it’ll be true.” Dom leaned in and kissed Billy on the neck. “And I’m throwing you a big party that day.” He moved from Billy’s neck to his mouth. He buried his tongue deep in Billy’s month, tasting every bit of him, when there was a soft knocking at the door. “Damn it,” he whispered.

Billy chuckled and quickly kissed Dom on the lips before lightly shoving the man off of him. “It’s probably just Luke. Come in,” he called.

On cue, a little blonde head popped itself into the room. “Uncle Dom! You’re awake!” He clamored up into the bed and perched himself on top of Dom’s chest. “Guess what?”

Dom held his hand to his head, still reaping in the aftereffects of drinking most of the night. “Hmm?”

“I might be in a movie!” He turned to Billy. “Right?”

“Right, now get off your Uncle Dom. He’s not feeling too good.”

Lucas cocked his head to the side. “He always smells like beer when he’s not feeling well. Maybe he shouldn’t drink that anymore.”

Billy raised an eyebrow. “How do you know what beer smells like, Boo?”

“Mac let me smell some the other day.”

“And you wondered why I didn’t want to leave him with Mac.”

Dom shook his head. “I see what you mean.”

Billy got out of bed and headed down to Mac’s room.

Lucas watched as Billy left the room before turning back to Dom. “Is Mac in trouble?”

“Probably, Little Scot. Come on. You weigh a ton.” He lifted Lucas off his chest, set him down beside him, and sat up. “You ready to go home, Little Scot?”

“Yeah. I miss school and my friends and my room, but...”

“But what?”

“Why aren’t you there, Uncle Dom? Can’t you come and stay with us?”

“Little Scot, I live here. I’ll come and visit.” He hugged Lucas and kissed the top of his head.

Lucas looked up at Dom. “Uncle Billy misses you.”

Dom sighed and looked into Lucas’ eyes, the same green eyes that Billy had, the green eyes that pierced right to Dom’s soul every time he looked into them. “I miss him, too. And you.”

Billy came back into the room. “Come on, Boo. We’re meeting up with Viggo. You get some rest, ok?” He leaned over and kissed Dom softly on the lips. “You’ll need it for tonight.”

Dom looked at Billy, a slightly confused look on his face. “What do you mean?”

“You’ll see.” He took Lucas’ hand headed out of the bedroom.
