Author's Notes: First of all, the title and inspiration for this fic come from a song by Bright Eyes called "It's Cool, We Can Still Be Friends". Here's a link to the lyrics, and here's the actual song for DLing. If you want any other Bright Eyes, just comment and let me know. :D
ALSO: The "now" scenes in this fic are not sequential. That is, they are linear in order but they do not happen one after the other. The flashbacks are not sequential OR linear, they just contrast and compare (to steal another song title from Bright Eyes). I hope that makes sense. LOL
