After lunch, Dom settled in at the kitchen table with the Sunday Times. Sarah joined him, reading through Saturday's post. The apartment was nearly silent for several minutes. There was only the sound of paper rustling, and faint traffic outside.

Dom looked up, alert, listening for something. Sarah watched him, saw his small, goofy smile take shape. He stretched, got up to pick up the phone. It rang ten seconds later, barely getting through one ring at all.

Sarah turned her attention back to the bills they shared, and tried not to listen to the strange rhythm of English/German/Scots dialect.

It was Billy.

Dom smiles, setting his beer down on the cheap paper coaster. The musty smell of the pub and the pounding sound of the bass of the music take over his senses. Until a pair of green eyes are locked on his, and suddenly the spicy scent of Bill's cologne and the sound of his Scottish lilt are taking over instead.
