Title: Twenty Minutes: Part Two
Author: OctoberMonaghan
Pairing: Monaboyd
Rating: G, except for perhaps one or two words.
Disclaimer: This is not true. They have their own lives, and I’m sure that this is nothing like what happens to them.
Summary: Follow up to the awards ceremony. I grant your wishes. This is a happy ending. Rather short, though. I had no creativity left in me.
Feedback: I need it! please!
Dom groaned and turned over, only to feel a warm body plastered against his. He smiled, and snuggled against Billy. Billy sighed, and kissed him.
Dom’s eyes popped open and he stared in horror at the girl who was in his arms. She was still asleep, so he ever so gently pulled away, slowly, and stepped out of the bed. He did not hid his surprise at this new development in his life. True, he has been known to bring home random girls he meets at pubs when he’s drunk as hell, but it has never happened after an awards show. He stepped back and fell into a chair. He then noticed it wasn’t even his room. “Mist,” he muttered. It was weird enough that he ended up sleeping with some girl from the after party, but he never was in their house. Ah, well, at least it had one up: he could leave without having to come back. He thought about it, and decided that was indeed what he was going to do. He stood up, leaned over and put his clothes back on as fast and as quietly as he could, and snuck out. He almost jumped into his car in his desperation to get out of there.
As he drove away, he mentally slapped himself. What had he been thinking? True, after the ceremony last night he got extremely depressed, and sometimes sleeping with a girl afterwards makes him feel accepted again, but still...
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Billy sighed and sat up. He hadn’t slept at all last night. The memory of a depressed Dom haunted him, and also the pain and sadness of Ali, for some unknown, breaking up with him. He wiped his teary eyes and wandered in a zombie-like state out to the kitchen. He made eggs, and ate them mechanically. The phone rang, but he chose to ignore it. Why not let the machine answer?
It turned out to be Elijah, inviting Billy out. Billy was glad he ‘missed’ the call; he didn’t feel like company at the moment. However, he did feel like getting out. He cleaned after himself and got dressed, and before fifteen minutes had passed, was out driving towards the nearest ocean. Oceans were good. They were big and wet and comforting. One could surf on them, or cry in them. If he chose to cry, he wouldn’t feel so bad. He’d feel insignificant, just letting small teardrops fall into the ocean. He didn’t care how far he had to drive, he just wanted to feel better. Less guilty, less angry. Less heartbroken.
He let the tears slip down his face as he drove. He couldn’t hold them in forever. He couldn’t hold up against all the pain that had found its way into his heart. The pain over Dom, the pain over Ali. The pain over EVERYTHING. He couldn’t stand it.
He was remembering that night when he realised just how rude he had been to Dom that day. He could’ve at least stayed his friend. Besides, Billy wasn’t all the pure, either, was he? He had faults, as did Dom. And Dom couldn’t help it if he was bi, right? Billy hoped so. The tears continued to fall as he turned right at the next stoplight, getting to the ocean as fast as he could without speeding. He had a feeling that a day on the beach would solve everything.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Billy got out of his car and stared in disbelief. The beach wasn’t open today! That was unfair. He needed the ocean. He needed to feel it, to taste it, to be submerged in it. Only then could he ignore the pain engulfing his heart. He sighed, but decided against turning back. He could at least watch the ocean from the boardwalk. He walked over and leaned on the fence, staring at the ocean.
He didn’t know how long he stayed there, watching those waves splash to and fro, but he did notice vaguely when someone else joined him. He didn’t look to see who it was; he was too enthralled with watching the ocean. The ocean was having its usual therapeutic effect. He was beginning to feel less pain whenever he thought of Ali, but he still felt ripped in half about Dom.
He glanced sideways at the stranger. He seemed to be watching the ocean also, but Billy couldn’t tell for sure; he was wearing a dark hat that covered his eyes. Billy decided to start a conversation.
“Like the ocean?”
The stranger looked up and gazed at Billy. “I guess so.” He didn’t say anymore, just stared at Billy.
Billy’s eyes widened. This was the last person he expected to meet!
~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Dom stared at Billy. He had started out just driving, not knowing where he was going, and he ended up here, of all places. Had he known the person on the boardwalk had been Billy, he would’ve turned around straight away. He didn’t need this. He still had a god-awful headache and his heart still felt ripped in half. A confrontation right now with Billy could turn out disasterous.
He turned around and started to walk away, but felt an hand on him arm pull him back. He struggled, but the hand didn’t let go or give way, so Dom let himself be limply dragged back to where he had originally been standing.
He glared at the ground, refusing to look at Billy. A tear slipped down his cheek. How could Billy do this to him? He had broken his heart in half, but now he wouldn’t let him leave. Just as he was beginning to delve deep into pitying thoughts, he felt a soft touch under his chin, and let the hand place there pull his face up. He was now looking right at Billy’s eyes. He started to say something, but Billy put a finger to his mouth.
“Hush. I need to talk. I have to apologize,” he started, “for being such an ass. I shouldn’t’ve been so mean to you. You are, after all, my best mate. Always will be.” He withdrew his hand from Dom’s chin.
Dom watching him for a moment before turning away. So all he wanted to be was friends? “Billy, it’s not completely your fault.” He turned back to him. “I should have kept my fucking mouth shut in the first place. But,” he started with such a tone that Billy looked at him in apprehension, “now that you know, I don’t think I can be just friends with you any longer. It would kill me.” He stepped back, staring at the ground once again. “I’m sorry, Billy. Good bye.”
Before he could go anywhere though, he felt arms close around his waist, and when he looked up in surprise, felt strong yet soft lips touch his. His heart fluttered in his chest. Billy was...kissing him! His deepest dreams had finally come true!
Billy pulled away, much to Dom’s distress. He didn’t want it to stop, it was so heavenly. Billy held onto his hands and smiled sweetly.
“Dom,” he said quietly, “I just realized how whole you make me feel, and I think that I couldn’t live without you. I need you. I love you, too.”
Dom’s mouth dropped open and he stood, speechless. Was this real? Could it be true? Did Billy really love him? Wait a minute...
“What about Ali?”
Billy pulled Dom into another warm and soft embrace, kissing him softly. “She broke up with me a while ago,” he murmered in Dom’s ear. “So I am all yours...”
Dom nipped at his ear. This was like a dream come true. Billy was his, all his, nothing but his. He grinned as a corny thought went through his head. He is mine, my own...my precious.... Dom was finally happy.
