Title: Candy Hearts

Summary: Hobbits will eat anything.
Feedback: Would be greatly appreciated as it’s my drug of choice.
Disclaimer: Not at all true in reality. This is my imagination at work.
A/N: Something sweet, light and schmoopy. You've been warned. TGIF.

Billy takes a long pull off the beer bottle held in his left hand and then arches an eyebrow at what sounds like every cupboard and drawer being opened and then closed in rapid succession in the kitchen.

"What are you doing?" he calls.

"I'm hungry," Dom replies. "And you've got shite in your cupboards, Boyd."

"That's why we called for takeaway," Billy reminds him, chuckling as he shakes his head. "Pizza will be here in-" a quick glance at the clock on the VCR, "twenty minutes."

"Too long. Hungry now."

"Hobbit," Billy teases good-naturedly.

"I'm a growing boy," Dom protests. "I just need- ah hah!"

"What?"

"Food! Erm, sort of."

Dom wanders back into the living room, cradling a small plastic bag, poking a long index finger into it and eyeing the contents closely.

"What is that?" Billy asks, setting down his beer on the coffee table.

In response, Dom drops down onto the couch with a grunt, selects a lone item from the bag and places it in Billy's palm with a flourish.

It's a cheerful yellow heart-shaped candy, with the words 'Be Good' stamped on it.

Almost immediately, Billy snorts in derision. "I don't think this actually qualifies as food, Dom."

"You can eat it," Dom argues, tossing one into his mouth and chewing, the crunching sound filling the quiet.

"Yes, but why would you want to?" Billy inquires. "Lij brought those over months ago, after Hannah left. Also? I can pretty much guarantee there's no nutritional value in them."

"So? Edible. Food."

Eyeing the yellow candy, Billy shrugs and pops it into his mouth.

Rolling his eyes, Dom digs into the bag again, fighting back a grin when one catches his eye.

"What?"

A mint green candy is offered to the Scotsman.

"In honor of Lij," Dom explains. "And good advice for you."

Turning the candy over after Dom drops it in his palm, 'Chill Out' is revealed, causing Billy to wrinkle his nose. "Very funny."

Dom pushes the candies around with a lone fingertip, looking to see what other options there are, and is unprepared when Billy snatches the bag out of his grasp.

"Hey!"

"My turn," Billy retorts, holding the item out of Dom's reach, but just barely.

"Fine," Dom acquiesces, slouching down comfortably into the couch cushions. "Make it a good one."

"Shut it."

While Dom looks on, Billy picks up several, only to discard them, until a purple heart is selected, and he smiles.

"Here's one for you."

"It better not say 'Daft Git'," Dom warns.

"Ooh, good one, but no," Billy teases with a warm smile, gently placing the candy in Dom's outstretched hand.

'Dream'

Dom smiles. "I like that one."

While Dom waits for Billy's next selection, he lets the candy dissolve on his tongue, silently agreeing with the other man that these really aren't food. They're too sweet, kinda chalky, but at the same time, he can't tell Billy to stop playing the game.

"This is how I felt when you were away, filming on the other side of the island," Billy says after a long deliberation to find just the right candy, an orange one this time.

'Miss You'

"Aww, Bills. I missed you, too."

"I like this one," Billy adds, selecting a bigger heart. "I think it's very appropriate for us."

'Best Friends'

"Can I pick one?" Dom requests quietly, holding out his hand for the bag and nodding his thanks when Billy passes it over.

A blush tinges Dom's cheeks as he plucks a white candy out of the bag. "This reminds me of the night before I left," he explains.

'First Kiss'

Billy smiles tenderly. "As I recall, I said something to you, along these lines."

A pink candy is revealed, previously hidden in Billy's hand and is laid reverently in the center of Dom's palm.

'Be Mine'

Shifting closer, Dom lays his head on Billy's shoulder, finding another orange candy, but this one with a different saying.

'Hug Me'

It's joined a moment later in Billy's hand by a pink heart.

'Let's Kiss'

"I thought you were hungry," Billy comments with a chuckle, warm air ruffling Dom's hair.

"If it was a choice between food or you, I'd choose you," Dom replies quietly, turning his head until their eyes meet. "Hobbit or otherwise."

The two men share an Eskimo kiss, then Dom digs into the bag, making a selection and swallows hard before giving it to Billy.

'Love Him'

"Love you, too, Dommie," Billy murmurs. "You're my best mate."

Frowning, Dom shakes his head and digs into the dwindling bag of candy hearts, then holds up a purple candy between his thumb and index finger, waiting for Billy to read it.

'One I Love'

"My turn," Billy whispers, shifting to wrap one arm around Dom's shoulders to hold him close while he picks out a candy with the other hand.

'Real Love'

"Bills-"

Dom's words are cut off by Billy's mouth covering his in a tender kiss, the bag of candy hearts all but forgotten as arms wind around one another. The contact is unhurried, almost lazy, as if they're just enjoying touching and being close. Eventually, Billy's hand slides under the hem of Dom's t-shirt at the small of his back, and the Scotsman slides the fabric up before shifting their bodies so they're stretched out on the couch. Small fingers are closing around the button and fly of Dom's blue jeans when the doorbell rings, shattering the intimate mood, and eliciting a groan from the younger man.

"Pizza's here," Billy whispers, trying not to smile as he reluctantly pulls away.

As quickly as possible, the food is paid for, but when Billy returns to the living room with the flat box and a stack of napkins, he finds Dom sitting up, digging through the few remaining candy hearts in the plastic bag.

"Food's here, Dommie. You can stop eating those."

"I'm looking for something," Dom replies, his brow furrowing in concentration.

After setting the pizza on the coffee table, Bill sinks down beside Dom, a hand resting lightly on his back. "I don't think you're going to find 'Shag Me' in there," he teases, then lowers his voice to a husky murmur. "And besides, I already know what you want."

"Yeah?" Dom asks softly, blue-grey eyes dark with arousal.

Billy grins. "Pizza."

The two men laugh and share a warm kiss before digging into the food, knowing that they’ll likely be picking up where they left off, once their stomachs are appeased. Only then will they truly satisfy their hunger.

For each other.

Okay I totally squeeled when I saw your post...got some weird looks from my co-workers (which are ALL men), but they know I'm crazy so...THANKS! LOL!

This was so sugary sweet...and oh so adorable! This reminded me when I cleared out my desk drawer 2 weeks ago and had some left over Branch's candy hearts from Valentines. I can totally see this happening, just them together being oh so cute using those innocent and loving sentiments to show their feelings!

TGIF indeed! Thanks for making my day SWEETER! <3

I remember those sweets as a kid, and that was a very clever way to use them for your story.
