Billy had skirted round the question for two days. He didn’t want to upset Dom in any way. He just wanted to be there for him. Since Elijah left, Dom had just been sat outside all day underneath Billy's oak tree in the garden. He just sat there, staring, despite the wind and rain. If it wasn't for Billy, he would have just stayed there all night.

"C'mon, Dom. You'll catch your death out here." Billy held out his hand, and Dom pushed it away.

"I’m fine." Dom didn't look up, just sat staring at the little mound of soil that he had ploughed up with his fingers.

Billy frowned and pulled Dom up. "I said come on." And with that, he propelled Dom into the house and locked the door. Dom had tripped over the doorstep and had violently landed onto the floor. He got up and brushed off the dirt that he had actually acquired outside, but seemingly blamed Billy for the state of his jeans. He went upstairs and into the bathroom.

Billy couldn't take this anymore. This tension. This whole avoiding the situation. Billy wanted to know what happened so that Dom could get rid of the weight that seemed to linger over him. He went upstairs and knocked on the bathroom door.

Dom had gone upstairs and locked the bathroom door. He didn't want to be interrupted, as he took one hard look at himself in the mirror. After a minute or two, he didn't recognise himself anymore. His skin looked grey and his eyes just didn't look his own. He splashed some water on his face and looked at himself once more. 'Get a grip of yourself, Dom,' he told himself. Then there was a knock on the bathroom door.

Billy heard the door unlock and a soggy Dom peered through the crack in the door. Billy opened the door wider and wrapped his arms around Dom. Dom didn't move, his arms still down by his side. Billy tightened his grip and nuzzled his head into Dom's neck.

"Are you okay?" His voice was barely audible, but the vibrations of his voice and the exhale of his breath tickled Dom's neck. Something calmed down inside Dom and he returned the embrace.

"Yeah. Just needed a cuddle, I guess." Dom's head rested against Billy's and they stood there for a full ten minutes. Billy broke off the embrace and looked into Dom's eyes. There was a slight sparkle in his eyes once again. He smiled and tugged his arm.

"Beer?"

Dom smiled and nodded. What could be better than having a beer with your best friend?

After many, many bottles of beer, both Dom and Billy were slung peacefully across the sofa. Billy looked over to Dom.

"So... what happened?" He hoped the fact that both of them were drunk would mean that Dom wouldn't get upset at him. That was the last thing he wanted.

Dom looked across to Billy. "Well, lets just say he now knows how I feel... felt... bleh." And with that, Dom threw his last bottle onto the newly christened 'Beer Pile.'

"I take it he didn't like what he heard?" Billy was careful not to sound too serious. He didn't want Dom to break down again.

Dom sighed and then told Billy everything. Tears fell as he told him, but he needed to get it out in the open.

Dom woke up at around 8:15. He walked from the sofa to the kitchen to find Elijah there.

"Morning," chirped a very awake Elijah.

Dom hadn't expected Elijah to be awake, especially since he assumed he had jet lag. Maybe Elijah was up for being told certain things.

"Morning, mate." He flicked the kettle on and got himself a cup. "How are you feeling at this time in the morning?"

"I'm good. Not at all tired. Although by the end of the day, you may find me collapsed in a pile of exhaustion right over there." He pointed towards the sofa.

"Hope not." Dom took the just boiled kettle and made himself a cup of tea. He looked at Elijah, his eyes a sparkling blue.

"Whatcha looking' at, Monaghan?" Elijah laughed at sat at the table in the kitchen. "Is Billy still asleep?"

Dom shrugged. "Dunno. He thought you'd have jetlag too." Dom sat down next to Elijah.

"He's a good man, that Billy. Letting us stay over. If it were me, there wouldn't be a cat in hells chance that you'd stay at mine." Elijah laughed again, and took a bite from his toast.

"Yeah. He's great." Dom didn’t realise how much he owed to Billy. He'd stuck through thick and thin for him, and he hadn't even thanked him for it. He looked up at Elijah and smiled. He couldn't waste any more time. He had to tell Elijah.

"Elijah..." Dom started, but didn't know what to say. He wished he had rehearsed a speech first. It would have been so much easier.

"Yeah?" Elijah still munched on his toast, reading his paper, not even looking at Dom. Dom noticed the difference between Dom and Billy. Whenever Dom talked to Billy, he'd stop whatever he was doing and look right at him. Funny, that.

"I..." Dom coughed. "...I have feelings for one of the fellowship." Dom fiddled with the handle on his cup. He searched Elijah's face for a reaction, but Elijah still concentrated on the paper.

"Which one?" Elijah didn't seem at all interested, but Dom decided to go on.

"Uh... you."

Elijah threw down his paper and looked in horror at Dom. "Wha...?"

Dom felt a cold chill between him and Elijah. This wasn’t the reaction that he had planned. He tried to place a hand over Elijah's, but Elijah pulled away and stood up.

"Feelings? Like what feelings?" Elijah's voice was angry, and full of disgust.

"You know what feelings I mean, Elijah." Dom tried to walk towards him but he pushed him away. Elijah was very wide eyed now, and he ran from Dom up the stairs.

Dom ran to the bottom of the stairs and waiting until Elijah emerged from the spare room with his bags.

"Oh, Elijah, don't do this."

"Do what? Freak out?" He walked into the kitchen and picked up the phone. "I think I have the right to. You know, I thought that if you were going to have feelings for any of us guys, it'd be Billy. Never me. Never." And with that he dialled a number and waited. "Taxi please..."

Elijah was faded out by Dom's sobbing. Dom tried to grasp Elijah's arm, but Elijah recoiled, as if Dom was fire. "Thanks, bye." Elijah hung up and walked to the front door. Dom followed him, still trying to cling onto him, still unable to speak through the sobbing. Elijah avoided Dom's looks and heard the taxi pull up. "Tell Billy that I’m sorry." And he walked out, slamming the door.

Billy patted Dom gently on the back. He pressed his head against his and smiled.

"Thank you for telling me, Dom." It wasn't as if he needed all the details, but he just wanted Dom to open up to him. To let Dom know that he wasn't alone. He kissed Dom on his temple. Dom looked across to Billy.

"Thank you." Dom was exhausted, but he felt so much better. He knew that he and Elijah may never talk again. But at least he knew now. If only he had reacted like Billy. Billy didn't even flinch when he told him. Dom kissed Billy's jaw line, as it was the nearest thing, and rested his head back on Billy's shoulder. "Love ya."
