After days of awkward friction between Billy and Dom, there was a knock on the door. Dom was already sat on the stairs waiting, and Billy was busy tidying up the mess that Dom had generated over the past few days.

Dom was about to open the door, before he paused, backed away, and then leapt to hide behind Billy.

"You do it." He whispered from behind him, his hands planted on Billy's shoulders, his head resting on Billy's neck. "I'm a teeny bit scared."

"Dom, its still only Elijah. Stop getting so uptight about this," and with that, Billy took Dom's hands off his shoulders, and continued to pick up old popcorn that had stuck to the carpet. Billy wasn't in the mood for these school girl games. The past few days, he had been avoiding Dom as much as possible, knowing that he'd turn into a quivering wreck if Dom tried to talk to him about his feelings.

Dom stood back. "You’re right," he managed to announce, before a loud bellow came from behind the door.

"Guys, are you in there? It's getting cold out here..."

Dom's heart leapt and rushed to open the door. Billy rolled his eyes, and discarded the bin bag full of Dom's rubbish.

There stood Elijah with yet more beer and his luggage.

"I can't believe I had to make my own way here, Bills. Shame about the car."

Dom's head sharply turned towards Billy, and a scowl was directed towards him. There was nothing wrong with Billy's car. But Dom let it go, and took Elijah's bags.

"You can have the spare room, I'll sleep on the couch."

"Thanks, Dom. It's been a rough flight. We can take it in turns to sleep in the spare room, right Bill?" Elijah's voice hung in the air. Billy nodded and took the beer from Elijah.

"Beer, anyone?" Billy took one for himself and passed the other two one each.

"Thanks", they said in harmony, and Billy swallowed hard.

A pair of hands slammed down onto Billy's side.

"Billy!" A frantic whisper and a hefty upheaval woke Billy up with a start.

"What the...?" Billy reached for the lamp and flinched at the bright light. After a few seconds, his eyes focused, and there stood Dom with a apprehensive look on his face.

"What's wrong?" Billy's voice sounded full of fatigue.

"Shall I do it now?"

Billy frowned with confusion.

"What?"

"Shall I do it now?" Dom repeated.

"Do what now?" Billy, still confused, was now sat up and Dom was sat on the edge of his bed, fiddling with the corner of Billy's quilt.

"Shall I tell Elijah how I feel now?" Dom knew he wouldn't be able to sleep unless he told him as soon as possible. He just had to know whether his feelings were reciprocated or not. And the sooner the better. But he knew that Billy would know best. "Well?"

Billy rubbed his eyes. "Dom, its quarter past two. In the morning. Elijah has jet lag, and you want to spring this on him now?" Billy knew that his reasoning would dissuade Dom from declaring his love for Elijah, but he didn’t know how long for. Besides, it wouldn't be fair on Elijah. Or him, for that matter. This was good advice.

Dom sighed. "You’re right. I just want it to be done and done, you know?" And with that Dom stopped playing with the corner of the quilt and pat Billy on the shoulder. "Thanks, mate. You're a good friend."

Billy smiled and switched the light off. Dom went back downstairs to the lumpy sofa and both of them went to sleep.

The next morning, Billy woke up to the sound of a door slamming. He got up and walked over to the window. It was Elijah, with all his bags, getting into a taxi. Billy watched with uncertainty as the taxi drove off. There was a loud thud downstairs, and Billy's heart flew ten feet into the air.

He ran halfway down the stairs before he could see Dom, sobbing in abundance, collapsed in a heap by the door. Dom looked up at Billy, still crying, and held out his hand. Billy nodded, and he knelt beside Dom, holding him firmly in his arms.
