Summary: Dom has a decision to make

It had been four months since Dom left Scotland for California. He hated leaving Billy behind, but he felt his career would flourish in the states. He was wrong. One hit movie does not a career make. He had had no offers, at least for work.

Too many parties, too many women, too many miles had separated Dom from his Billy. Too many excuses for not calling, too many lies to himself.

Dom could still hear Billy’s words; “There will be a ticket at the gate for you. If you love me, you’ll come.” Dom had not replied. Billy hung up and left Dom to make a decision.

Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of time
To decide

Billy said the ticket was for tomorrow at noon. Dom walked around his apartment trying to convince himself he was better here in the states. Billy had an established career in Scotland. Billy was strong. Billy didn’t care what people thought. So he was in love with a man. Dom wanted to feel that way. No cares for his image.

Do we run?
Should I hide?
For the rest
Of my life

Dom spent the night tossing and turning. He would get out of bed and start packing. He would stop and lie down again. He would get up and start to unpack. Over and over he repeated this till the sun rose casting colors over Dom’s decision. He could be happy, he had this chance. But what would make him happy.

Stay or go?
Can we fly?
Do we stay?
We could lose
We could fail

The airport was full of busy people rushing to get to their destinations. Destinations they decided they wanted to go to. Decisions made without much thought, decisions made for happiness. Dom walked to the gate. The watch on his wrist, which had been a gift from Billy, told him he had thirty minutes to decide.

In the moment
It takes
To make plans
Or mistakes

He walked to the desk at the gate. He stood watching families greet and hug. He watched lovers say good-bye with promises of quick returns. Could he be Billy’s lover without shame? Could he announce to the world that he loved Billy? Could he live a lie, but still be with Billy? Could he live without Billy?

30 minutes, a blink of an eye
30 minutes to alter our lives
30 minutes to make up my mind
30 minutes to finally decide
30 minutes to whisper your name
30 minutes to shoulder the blame
30 minutes of bliss, 30 lies
30 minutes to finally decide

“Call me when you decide, Dom.” Billy had told him. Billy would do anything for Dom. He would jeopardize his career; he would protect Dom from the world. Billy would lie to the world about their relationship if Dom wanted. He just wanted Dom with him.

Dom walked over to the large window overlooking the runway. He could see his reflection as he gazed up to the sky. How many times had he and Billy lay in the shire watching the clouds pass? How many times had they looked at stars together whispering promises of forever?

Carousels
In the sky
That we shape
With our eyes

How many times had Dom hid their relationship from friends? How many times had he wanted to tell his family? How many times did he make Billy feel guilty for their love?

Under shade
Silhouettes
Casting shame
Crying rain

He heard the announcement for boarding. His heart raced. Decide, Dom. He knew if he went it had to be forever. If he didn’t go he knew that too would be forever. He could be happy, couldn’t he?

Can we fly?
Do I stay?
We could lose
We could fail
Either way
Options change
Chances fail
Trains derail.

He walked up to the desk and asked for the ticket. The attendant smiled at the recognition of his name, and handed him his ticket. She pointed the way to the plane. Dom walked a few feet and stopped.

30 minutes, the blink of an eye
30 minutes to alter our lives
30 minutes to make up my mind
30 minutes to finally decide

He took his cell phone off his hip and dialed Billy’s number. His finger hovered over the connect button. With one push of that little green button he would determine his future as well as Billy’s. Dom looked out the window again. Again he saw his reflection. Who am I?

30 minutes to whisper your name
30 minutes to shoulder the blame
30 minutes of bliss, 30 lies
30 minutes to finally decide

The attendant told him the gate was closing. He needed to go. Either board or leave. Dom tried to will his legs to move. Tried to will his finger to push that damn button.

To decide
To decide, to decide to decide to decide

He felt the attendant place her hand on his back. “Sir, are you boarding? Sir?”

To decide
To decide, to decide to decide to decide
