Notes: In this chapter, Billy returns to Scotland and Elijah talks to a stubborn Dom.

 

It has been a week since the scandal. Billy looked everywhere for Dom. He even talked to Elijah, who felt sorry for Billy.

 

“I promise to talk to him Billy when I hear from him, don’t worry.”

 

“Thank you Elijah, you’re a good friend.”

 

“No, thank you.”

 

They hugged, said their goodbyes and Billy left.

It had been three hours since Billy arrived in Scotland. His parents called him to the King’s study.

 

“Billy, there are rumors that you’re gay, that you have been having an affair with a man while you were there,” King William talked as calmly as he could, “Is it true?”

 

“Yes father, it is,” he sadly replied.

 

King William sighed, “How long have you been a homosexual?”

 

“Since I was 20.”

 

“Have you been with many men? Billy you could have a disease!”

 

“No father! I’m not promiscuous as the tabloids say I am! Dom was my first love… still is my love.” He sighed heavily.

 

“Dom? Is that his name?”

 

“Dominic Monaghan.”

 

“Did he know about you?”

 

“No sir.”

 

“How did he react to the news?”

 

“Rather badly, I haven’t seen him since. I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye,” Billy’s face was covered in tears and faced down, eyes closed.

 

Queen Margaret was watching Billy closely. He’s telling the truth, he does love this Dominic.

 

“You realize the damage this is making? Scotland is going to have a homosexual king! What about children? Who’s going to take the throne after Billy’s turn? I suppose you’ll not have children!” the King cried.

 

“Oh sod it Willy!” the Queen said.

 

“What?”

 

“The boy’s in love for heaven’s sake.”

 

“In love with a man! Not a woman!”

 

“Who the bloody hell cares Willy? That doesn’t change the way he is. He can perfectly rule the country without a queen.”

 

“Margie! You cannot be serious! The people will not approve!”

 

“It’s you who doesn’t approve, you sodding git!”

 

Billy was standing there listening to his parents fight. He had never seen this before.

 

“What did you call me?”

 

“A sodding git.”

 

“I thought so.”

 

“Look, Willy, this is Billy’s life. I’m sure this Dominic boy will not hurt Billy or fool him just to become royalty. Billy, how long have you been with Dominic?”

 

This was unexpected to Billy, “Uh, six and a half months, but we’ve known each other for over a year now.”

 

“Right, were you happy son?” she kindly asked.

 

“As happy as I have ever been mum. He’s my best friend, I love him dearly.”

 

“I don’t see what the fuss is Willy. Billy was happy, and now look at him, he’s miserable!”

 

“I still say that the people will not approve.”

 

“You big stupid arse, the people will approve if they have a happy King! Imagine a bitter King! It would be devastating! Do you want your son happy?”

 

“Of course I do, but…”

 

“Then shut your pie hole. We may not have the future King’s royal wedding but I do not care anymore, I want my son happy.”

 

Billy couldn’t believe his mother’s words; his tears were running down his face.

 

“Find your Dominic, bring him home, make him part of our family,” the Queen said to Billy.

 

Billy embraced his mother. “Thank you,” he whispered and left the room.

 

“Margie, who’s going to take over the throne after his time is over?” the King asked frustrated.

 

“We can tell your brother’s eldest, he’s 18 now. Besides, he’s family, so no harm.”

 

“What about Margaret’s children?”

 

“Willy! Margaret will be Queen of Denmark! Her children will rule that country!”

 

“Oh yes, right.”

 

They both laughed.

“Dom, listen to me!”

 

“There is nothing to listen to Elijah! He lied to me!”

 

“He was protecting who he was!”

 

“Don’t defend him! He could have told me!”

 

“Yes, you’re right, but he didn’t. You can’t punish him!”

 

“He didn’t tell me so he doesn’t trust me!”

 

“Oh for fuck sakes Dominic! It’s not like he fucked someone else! Stop being such an asshole!”

 

“Asshole? You’re the asshole!”

 

“Shut up and listen!”

 

“Fine!”

 

“Billy loves you man, don’t make faces!” he took a deep breath. “You have no idea how devastated he was when he left.”

 

“What? He left?” Dom asked surprised.

 

“Yes he did, he left yesterday.”

 

“He came to see you?”

 

“He was desperate looking for you!”

 

Dom stared at Elijah.

 

“Yes Dominic, Billy was looking for you, he was crying, he kept telling me how much he loves you and how much this situation hurts him. Do you know what he said to me?”

 

“What?”

 

“He said that if he could choose between you and being the future King of Scotland, he would choose you without hesitation.”

 

“You can’t be serious!”

 

“You heard me! He chooses you over to royalty! Unfortunately he can’t do that but the intension is huge so stop being such a prick you big motherfucker!”

 

“I can’t believe he said that!”

 

“He did! Dom he loves you very much, he meant everything that he said, and you have got to believe me! Do you love him?”

 

“With all my heart and soul.”

 

“Then that’s enough! Go to Scotland! Find him! Prove to his family that you’re worthy of him!”

 

“I don’t have money to fly over to Scotland!”

 

“I’ll buy you the fucking ticket! I want you happy and I want Billy happy, plus you’ll owe me big time, now let’s go!”
